We hold a 30minute service of worship in the lounge area each month.
Compared to the other care homes we visit, Brookdale is a happy and very welcoming home. It is clean and bright and the carers, including the manager, are always getting involved so we are not left on our own with the residents.

I was especially impressed during our September visit by the new 'memories' lounge, with a seaside holiday theme and suitable furnishings. The activities co-ordinator had invited a local 'paint-a-pot' company into the home to decorate and prepare a photo frame for each resident to get involved with.

I found the care home has a very friendly and caring environment, the staff are great with my sister, they seem to have enough time to chat to her, and nothing is too much trouble, activities are adequate for the residents. The home's manager is brilliant with the residents, nothing is too much trouble for her, she is very caring, she is very good to talk to and listens to what you have to say, if she can't answer a question at that moment, she will get back to you when she finds out the answer to your question. All in all very happy for my sister's welfare.

My ninety three year old father is a recent resident of Brookdale. He has dementia and has had at least two strokes that I know of, affecting his speech. I live in the USA and therefore visiting is often not so easily arranged. The Care Manager has often offered assistance to my mother, who has not always been the easiest person to deal with! Also, recently, he kindly drove my father and my mother to my father's GP appointment.

My family is very appreciative of the 'extra mile' that the staff of the home have shown towards not only my father, but my mother too.

The home appears well run with always a good number of staff on duty. It is small, friendly and comfortable and my father always looks clean, comfortable and well fed. There are always plenty of opportunity for visiting my father and the staff are friendly, approachable and informative. The placement is situated near my father's last address so my mother is able to visit him (as there are good bus routes) if I am not available to take her in the car.

My wife has been in Brookdale Care Home for just two years, following a transfer from another home in the same ownership.
She had been diagnosed with dementia in May 2013, I was facing my own health problems and I required hospitalisation. My wife's condition was deteriorating and it was difficult to care for her at home.

She is compliant with conditions in the care home, but she cannot grasp the logic of her situation, and this makes her mood difficult to contend with. She is provided with care in a positive and sympathetic manner.

New manager seems to be making improvements. More consistent procedures needed i.e. All staff singing from the same sheet and provision for visitors to hang coats.

Mum stayed at Brookdale for only 5 weeks. We thought it would be much longer but she passed away. The staff at Brookdale were fabulous. They got to know us all very well. Mum was well cared for and we as family were always welcomed and treated very well. The team were well prepared when it became clear that mum was declining and everything they said would happen did. Mum's passing was so special and Brookdale enabled it to be so. A wonderful team.

Brookdale Care Home St Paul's Court Bury cared for my mother for 3 months until she passed away. They are a lovely caring team that caring for people is more than just a job to them. They provided my mum with love, care and support and nothing seemed too much trouble. I can't thank them enough.

Laundry- the actual laundry function is very good but the identification of clothing and after delivery to the rooms could be improved. Staff investment is required with regards to a full time activities coordinator with particular reference to the dementia unit.

We viewed a number of homes for our mum/nan and wanted the best possible care for her. We choose Brookdale believing it was the best care home in the area and we haven't been disappointed. The management and care staff attend to every need we have and our mum/nan has. They deal with everything with patience and compassion and nothing is too much trouble. The hands on care she receives is more than we could have expected. 5 star care in our opinion and we couldn't be happier given a difficult situation for us all.

My mother had to move into permanent care, due to a spell in hospital. We searched for an appropriate place for sometime, ultimately we came across Brookdale. We are pleased that we found the place for mothers sake. Everything is well kept, the services are excellent. The staff are caring, friendly and helpful. Well done Brookdale!

Most of the staff are helpful and supportive and responds to requests. I find some of the staff seem to care more than others. Management are very good and supportive. Lots of my mum's belongings such as makeup, glasses, perfume go missing regularly which upsets both my mum and I. She is often dressed in others clothes which are labelled. I have found sometimes that messages are not relayed. My mum seems generally happy and I feel happy because of this. I would like her belongings/clothing to be put back correctly after washing etc.

General and personal care is good at all times, but shortage of staff means waiting, sometimes the computer seems to 'take over' the staff near finishing time. Dignity is always dealt with in a caring manner by all the staff. Staff are available and will try to supply any help. Medical advice is good and Doctors advice obtained. Food is good with an alternative menu. All round a good care home.

My close friend, who I had shared a home with for 40 years spent 11 months in the care of Brookdale until she passed away on New Years eve 2015. The care and support, not only to her but to me too was excellent. The staff spent time explaining behaviours and medication to me and accompanied me to hospital and dentist appointments. She was happy in Brookdale and regarded them as a second family. The food, hygiene and accommodation was all top notch and management equally supportive. I had no reason to question any action at all.
