Very pleased with the general atmosphere and pleasantness of the staff. Excellent food...halves the horror of parting with a husband who I can no longer physically care for. Always made me welcome whatever time I turn up. Cannot believe our luck as it is so near our home.

My Grandma (age 97) moved into The Cedars in April 2023, after 6 weeks in another home, prior to this she lived independently in her own home. I visited a few Residential Homes in the area, and The Cedars just stood out above all the rest. It is a very sociable place, which is perfect for Grandma, as she loves to talk to people. There is such a warm feeling each time we go and visit. Grandma has settled very well. There are different activities throughout the week, which Grandma will join in with. All of the staff members are so welcoming and friendly. Each member of staff is aware of Grandma's care needs. We are always included in any decisions that are made involving Grandma. We are allowed to visit at anytime of the day, and can stay for as long as we like. The management team are always at hand too, which we found invaluable in Grandma's transition from another home to The Cedars. I would not hesitate to recommend The Cedars. It is like home from home.

My mum has only recently moved into The Cedars Rest Home and the welcome and service have been exceptional.
It was a huge step for her to move from living independently in her own home and we are extremely grateful to the manager and the team at The Cedars for their personal care and attention during this transition period.

Mum's health and cognitive ability have much improved and she is now getting more and more confident in her new home environment at The Cedars.

My mother-in-law moved into The Cedars in November 2022, and everything has gone smoothly with her transition to new surroundings. She has settled in well and looks healthier and happier than during her last months in independent living with a support package.

The team have been very supportive of her needs, and the manager has maintained regular contact with me in the initial weeks to explain how the home works; she has subsequently made sure that I am happy with her room and the facilities generally, even suggesting a room move to improve safety for her away from the stairs.

Brilliant staff who are patient, informative, caring and proactive. No question is too much. They are understandably aware we don't know how our relative/friend is coping and they help us understand her health and deterioration. They are always welcoming with smiles. I've appreciated everything they have done in settling my friend in, learning to understand her and getting to know her ways. A wonderful team.

My mother has dementia and is 93 years old. She is a strong willed lady who resents being in care and the limitations it places on her independence and freedom to choose her lifestyle. The Cedars have worked to meet her needs and have never made her feel less than human. It is this respect for her humanity that has impressed me most. Old age and senility (to use non PC words) strips us of our humanity of the ability to take decisions on our own behalf we place these in the hands of others. My mother is a fiercely difficult and stubborn woman who has never found it easy to form meaningful relationships. The Cedars work with her and with me. I feel supported and cared for too. They are an excellent care facility!

I have found the Cedars to be very accessible to us as a family. My aunt is very well cared for. It hasn't been easy with Covid but we have always been able to come and visit her.

The care of my mum has been exceptional. Her needs are always at the forefront of the home's care. They communicate with the family at all times when Mum is not so well, appointments (which they take her to), results of any tests she needs etc. All the staff are aware of Mum's needs and her personality. They treat Mum with dignity and respect.

Some great care staff, but ultimately this home let us down hugely as a family towards my grandmother's end. From what I experienced, completely not set up for palliative cancer care and should recognise their limitations.

Dear Daniel B,

We would like to express our sincere condolences on the passing of your grandmother. However, we do not recognise your description of our service. We are vastly experienced in and renowned for providing high-quality elderly care in Trafford, including palliative care, having done so...

Mother was a resident of this excellent care home, the staff are caring, compassionate and very responsive to questions/questions posed by me over a 12 month period.
The staff were very supportive and very dedicated during the Covid pandemic, which is a real testament to their professionalism.

I was so impressed with the care that I recommended the home to a friend, who placed her husband there, she was similarly, very satisfied. I would recommend the home to anyone who needs to have a loved one cared for.

Review from Mark C (Son-in-law of Resident) published on 22 November 2021 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

The covid pandemic has had a significant effect on our ability to visit the home. We are now able to visit on a weekly basis and the staff have been keen to facilitate this, especially as we do not live locally. We have been unable to view the room or see the activities on offer due to the ongoing restrictions, so our ratings of “good” reflect our experience, pre-Covid. The building is quite old and on several different levels which can be problematic for both residents and staff. We find the staff friendly and welcoming. They are clearly doing their best in challenging circumstances and are well qualified to help residents with dementia. We are happy with the standard of care provided and would recommend The Cedars.

I have found all the staff in The Cedars Care Home to be caring and conscientious. After a difficult start with my mother, they managed to show compassion and now she seems much more comfortable. She is always dressed and looks her best. Having experience of respite in other care homes, I am glad we were able to get her in The Cedars.

My father, who is 94 and has advanced dementia, moved into The Cedars in November 2020, during lockdown. He has been very well looked after. He enjoys all the food and has gained weight after some time of not eating properly. Visits over the last year have been very well organised with weekly PCR tests and Lateral Flow tests before each visit.

Although Dad is not really aware of his environment any more, he is always calm and content. All the staff are very supportive and caring.

From the time I first contacted The Cedars I was so impressed with the courtesy and helpfulness of every member of staff I met. The building and surrounding grounds were all extremely well presented and the atmosphere in the house was welcoming and calm. I was shown the well-organised kitchens where the food was freshly cooked, presented attractively and the clients needs and individual care was considered.

We intend to make use of respite care regularly as is it reassuring to know a relative is being well cared for and content.

To explain. I was business director of five care and continuing care hospitals, so I am aware of what elderly people require. The Cedars is wonderful. The manager and her staff provide, in a delightful caring way, all that is required to make those they care for happy. My ethos has always been to give people care, dignity, love and ensure they are content. These are done effortlessly with the manager at the helm. Her staff are a joy to behold, nothing too much trouble, and is done very professionally.
