The Cedars Care Home

Following a less than satisfactory experience in a previous care home, I now have complete confidence that my wife is being properly cared for by very professional and caring people. I really could not speak too highly of them. I now have peace of mind.

I can’t rate The Cedars highly enough. My Mum has early-onset Alzheimer's and as such it has been traumatic for her, for myself, and my brother and for our Dad, to put her in a care home. The place and people can either add to this or take from it (we know from prior experience). They are not only providing wonderful care for Mum, she is treated with consideration, dignity, kindness and attention to detail but also to us, her family; we are always made to feel welcome there, included in her care and feel like part of their family in their modern, beautifully decorated, clean facility. It is impossible to put into words how much all these things help all of us during what is the most harrowing part of our lives as a family. I'd highly recommend the place even if, like us, your loved one isn't 'elderly' - the place is always buzzing and lively and I know Mum doesn't feel 'stuck' in an 'old folks home' as a consequence.

My mum is only 69 and sadly now has advanced Alzheimer’s. It’s been a difficult transition for the whole family on many levels. Mum moved into a residential care home in September having lived with my dad who was struggling to cope. It became apparent that they couldn’t meet her needs. We were unhappy with the standard of care and how this was communicated as we were made to feel it was her fault and ours. Following a further assessment, mum moved into The Cedars as an EMI residential placement. She didn’t settle immediately but the manageress and the team have been brilliant. Efforts are made to engage mum, maintain her dignity and it’s a huge weight off our mind knowing she is well cared for. Highly recommended in all respects. Even the volunteering programme with the local grammar school is highly impressive. Staff are well trained, appropriately managed, are caring and treat family with respect. Communication is excellent and I cannot speak highly enough of our experience so far.

Since my dad returned to the UK and moved into The Cedars, he has gone from strength to strength. His appetite is back and he is very content and happy. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff at The Cedars. They look after my dad, and all the other residents, so well.

They are always very welcoming to me when I visit, and I always feel relaxed when I leave as I know he is in good hands

Mother-in-law using care home on a day residence basis, one day a week. This provides activity and care which is excellent.

I came for one week's respite and was treated very well by a friendly staff and a very friendly and well-organised management and the meals were very good and tasty.

It's a huge decision to place a parent in a care home. I looked at so, so many but I knew I had found the 'Home' when I viewed The Cedars. The staff are amazing and I know mums care is their utmost priority. From moving into everyday care, they are supporting you as well as your parent.

Each resident is cared for as an individual. I am impressed with the standard of care and the patience of all the carers, especially with residents who may be difficult. It is also very good to see residents doing colouring in and playing simple, or should I say, easy games at a table with a carer. There are also times when a group of musicians come in and play instruments and sing. The residents respond to very much indeed.

There are televisions in all lounges which residents like to watch. At Christmas, there are trees and decorations. Residents are stimulated by various activities. I like the fact The Cedars Rest Home is not a large care home and this is good and another thing I am pleased with is my husband is well cared for.

Mum has been here for 2 months. She has been well cared for and enjoys the visits from the hairdresser and the manicures. We feel happy that she is safe with dedicated, caring staff attending her. The lounges and gardens are well maintained. It is lovely to sit outside in peaceful surroundings.

Has been over the years a very welcoming and caring home and my brother has been very well looked after in every way. He enjoys the food which is very good and the home is good. Good work all around.

Management and staff are very caring and helpful. Food is excellent and varied. Rooms are very clean and warm.

The Cedars is amazing, they care for the residents and also care for the family members visiting. I have had many a meal with my dad in there and the food is great quality. I often visit and the staff will offer me a coffee and biscuit or cake, they really care for everyone. If I take my dad out they will offer to lend us a wheelchair, make sure my dad is prepared and ready if I inform them in advance. They will take my dad to hospital appointments and save me taking time off work. I could not be happier with The Cedars and their care levels. In fact, my friend has moved her dad into The Cedars on my recommendation and she loves it too. Over the few years I have been visiting I have never seen a carer lose their patience and their compassion towards the residents is just amazing.

It has been peace of mind for me knowing she is well looked after and happy.

A staff member accompanied my father to A&E recently after he fell (turned out he broke his hip), made sure has was OK until we were able to get there.
