My sister has stayed at Handsworth three times now for residential respite and we both feel SO safe and reassured when she's there. The actual property is pretty, well maintained and welcoming. The staff are all incredible. So supportive and so loving towards my sister. They always share photos of her
and she always looks so full of joy. She loves the staff, the food, the fabulous and stimulating activities and the fact that she gets to be away from me for a while! I can enjoy my break with no concerns or worries about her. I too feel cared for and listened to by the staff. Handsworth and it's staff are an absolute treasure and we are both so grateful to have them. HUGE THANKS to everyone involved for making my sister feel so at home and allowing me to have a worry free break from my caring role. She always comes home happy and well cared for, full of stories about the lovely stay she has had xxx

MHA Handsworth, in my father's words, is the very best care home. He particularly likes the food, friendly/ caring staff, lots of smiles and the homely atmosphere.
We are delighted with the whole Handsworth team, the care dad receives, super activities, GP attendance each week and the environment inside
and out makes it a true home.
We would not hesitate to recommend MHA Handsworth.

My mum has been a resident since January 2023 and seems to be settled and happy at Handsworth and will often comment on how good the staff are. The only grumbles she has, occasionally, are about the food. However, she particularly enjoys the jacket potatoes which, apparently, are better than the ones
my dad used to make at home!

I understand that she doesn't take part in group activities, but it's good to hear she enjoys her one-to-one sessions with our activities coordinator, as well as the outside musical entertainment we host.

Dad has been a resident for over 6 months and his care has been exemplary. The staff are incredibly kind and caring and respond to all needs and support. The food is perfect for dad and the activities are well organised and inclusive.

My brother has been in Handsworth Care home for over 5 years now and I have always felt that he has received excellent care. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the home and the staff at all levels are wonderful: caring, cheerful, helpful, very hard-working and very approachable - it is clearly
a well-run care home and it's the staff who make this home such a wonderful place.
The home itself is bright and airy and as I walked in today, there was a lovely display of photos from a residents trip, being put up on the wall ..so nice for the residents to look at and enjoy! I feel my brother is in the right place and it's perfect for him.

Right from the outset at Mum' s assessment the management team were wonderful patient and respectful and listened to Mum (even when she went off on numerous tangents. Mum's medical needs were taken into account and acted upon as were requests for certain items in her room and nothing was too much trouble.
I know Mum was safe and being cared for. Mum's room was clean bright and airy and garden space was wonderful to sit out in. All the staff were very welcoming and respectful and Mum loved the library. Lots of activities (but not Mum's thing) which was great and I could not think of a better place for Mum to get the care and attention she needed. Thank you to each and every one of you you are all lovely and I would not hesitate to recommend

We were very lucky to find Handsworth Care home for our Mum. It was the perfect place for her, the staff are very kind and considerate and the residents are friendly and lovely to one another. Mum was made very welcome and despite being initially unsure about coming to live here, the warm welcome, patience
and support really helped her to settle in. She particularly enjoyed the activities when children came to visit. For us as a family it was reassuring to know that Mum was safe, and well cared for in such a lovely environment. We extend our thanks to all the staff and everyone involved with Hands worth.

There are seriously not enough stars to rate the phenomenal care the staff and the facilities Handsworth provide for their residents. Trying to find the perfect home for my friend was a daunting task until I contacted Handsworth, from initial contact to enquire regarding a room to my friend being welcomed
into Handsworth was seamless, the atmosphere in Handsworth is homely, safe and loving. To leave a lifetime home to begin a new life in a new home is a heart-wrenching decision to make, but all the staff have made my friend feel at home and are encouraging him to enjoy the start of his new adventure in life, I cannot begin to thank you all enough for your meticulous attention, outstanding care, support and love shown to my friend, his friends and family, you are all an absolute credit to Handsworth and beautiful people, much love.

I have been a regular visitor at Handsworth since 2018 when my friend became a resident. He passed away in 2019 but I continued visiting as I had built up a great relationship with other residents and the staff. In October 2023 I was visiting and there wasn't a parking space on the grounds so I parked
on the road outside. After the visit, I was a little hemmed in and in trying to go forward and reverse out of the space, I managed to lose control and crash through a neighbour's garden wall. There must have been a lot of noise, as staff members (deputy manager) and the lady from the laundry were at the forefront of rescuing me as steam and smoke billowed from the engine. I was hemmed in by a tree on my side so the girls and others managed to get me free via the passenger door. No mean feat due to my own mobility issues. Handsworth phoned the emergency services and my family and looked after me very well. Handsworth were simply amazing. I can't thank them enough. I still visit - now carless!

Handsworth is everything and more that families would want for the care of their loved ones the time my Mum has been resident here has been a most amazing and humbling experience. The staff have given their all to make Mum comfortable from day one. She arrived here at the age of 101 in reasonable health
for her age but with very limited sight.
Her need for end of life care began at the beginning of June 2023. Mum could not have been better cared for at this difficult time, the team here have made enormous efforts to make Mum comfortable from day one. They have been just as kind and caring to myself and my 2 sisters. The organisation its staff and management are a shining example of what can be achieved in caring for older people during and at the end of their lives. The humanity and respect for those in their care has been remarkable. On behalf of my sisters and our families I want to say that we will be forever grateful to Handsworth for their professional, tender loving care for Mum.

My father spent the last two years of his life at Handsworth, he arrived during lockdown so our first impressions were a bit unusual! He had been more or less housebound for a long time and had problems with his short-term memory, but settled quickly and was soon happier than he had been for a long
time. I cannot fault the kindness and care he received at Handsworth. I found the staff endlessly compassionate and cheerful in what must have been the most trying of circumstances.
As for facilities, food, etc all are top notch. But I would like to say a special thank you to all the staff and management for their unstinting efforts to keep the residents engaged and stimulated with so many activities and special days, you just have to look at the social media page to see happy, smiling people enjoying themselves. Kindness, care, dignity, respect and fun, I don’t think you can ask for much more than that. Thank you.

Handsworth has been my mums home for the past eight years. The wonderful staff became her family caring for her to the highest standards especially during the pandemic when we weren’t able to visit her. We were constantly kept informed of any changes in mums health which was so reassuring. The staff
all embraced mums sometimes brusque personality and managed to get rare smiles from her when I couldn’t.
Sadly mum passed away very recently. The manager and staff made it possible for us to spend mums final days with her at her bedside. The care, compassion and kindness we received from everyone at Handsworth will stay with me forever.

Handsworth Care Home is wonderful! My father spent two very happy years there, cared for with love, kindness, patience and compassion. I will be thankful for how he was treated for the rest of my life. I couldn't have asked for more for him. All the staff - and I, including the catering staff, the admin
staff and the laundry staff, along with the carers - are unfailingly cheerful and good-humoured. My dad had severe short-term memory problems, so couldn't always recognise the faces of the people who looked after him, but he always knew that he was loved. I couldn't be with him much, as I live so far away, but I knew that he was happy. The garden, the parties and celebrations, the visits from puppies and even little chicks - there is so much going on at Handsworth, which is fantastic. But in the end, it comes back to the lovely people who work there that make it so special. Thank you for looking after my dad how I would have liked to look after him myself.

I had a legal power of attorney for a lady who has just passed away after almost five years in Handsworth. It was not easy to decide on the right place for her final years but I am pleased that my first impressions have been confirmed. The professionalism and humanity of all staff, in particular the
management team, has been consistently exemplary. In the first years the stimulation and companionship was well judged, but as faculties and mobility faded, the close care and compassion was impressive. The provision of a special bed was appreciated. Through the covid period and during her final weeks the management showed an important flexibility and understanding of the needs of relatives.
I am totally satisfied that I made the right decision to select Handsworth for my charges final years. Thank you.
