My friend has been a resident at Handsworth for 3 years 9 months and I visit regularly every 7-10 days. I feel able to call whenever I want and am made welcome by the staff on duty. When I walk into the home it feels fresh and clean and my friend's room is the same. The windows are open when she is
not in the room. I have a good relationship with the staff and know that they do the best for my friend and will contact me if there is a problem. Keeping track of hearing aids is a common problem but staff now do better at renewing the batteries. I feel staff are required to do too much routine paperwork much of which is unnecessary repetition and gives them less time to be with the residents. The activities that I see are interesting and the weekly visits from the clergy and others are well received. I have no hesitation in recommending Handsworth.

My mother died in Sept 2016. The staff were fantastic in her last weeks. She was able to die peacefully in her own bed we couldn't have asked for more.

My aunt moved to Handsworth in December 2014. She was looked after with great care and respect. She settled, put on weight in a healthy way and made friends. The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we visited. When unwell, we were kept promptly informed. The care in her declining last weeks was
excellent.

My godmother has been a resident at Handsworth for a few years now. She is extremely happy and enjoys the activities and social aspects with the other residents.
She has mental health issues and the staff are always caring, reassuring and 'go that extra mile' to ensure that she feels safe and loved
in her home. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and you only have to ask and it is done! I would highly recommend Handsworth to anyone looking for a place for their loved one to live and be cared for by fabulous staff

Mother is dying, as I write, having lived here 6 years. She is being beautifully cared for now in her last few days, as she has been throughout and up to her recent decline only a week ago. Up to then, despite severe dementia, this nimble 92 yr old was up and a loved part of the community, despite frequent
falls as her frailty rapidly took over and needing all personal care. The staff are calm, competent, very kind, respecting of personality and tastes of the resident and have (this is not a sentimental remark) given her the best 6 years of her life- she felt safe at last.

Handsworth has provided a safe and secure sanctuary for my aunt whose health (physical) has deteriorated. The cleanliness, bight environment, friendly and experienced staff have helped the family at this difficult time. The location enables my aunt to be wheel chaired down to Altrincham and the gardens
allow my aunt to exercise as well as enjoy the flowers and plants.

My mother has been living happily at Handsworth for over six years and during that time she has enjoyed a real home from home environment. Recently she has been very ill and spent two weeks in hospital, her eyesight has significantly deteriorated to the point that she is classed as 'partially sighted'.
My
mother was extremely anxious when she returned to Handsworth, being confused by the changing surroundings. The staff were wonderful in taking extra care of her, reassuring her, even helping her with her meals until she felt content to manage again by herself. She is now content and settled in the comfortable, caring and familiar surroundings she knows.

After looking at a number of care homes for my mother, I found that Handsworth looked as if it provided an excellent level of care with interesting things for the residents to get involved with.
My mother has now been at Handsworth for about 2 years and I have been very pleased with our selection
and the level of care and service provided.
This was an excellent choice.

Before joining MHA, Julia completed her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, laying the foundations for a successful career in care management. She remains committed to ongoing learning and development, always looking for ways to enhance the support offered to residents and staff alike.
