Mum recently moved into Montgomery Care Home and has been there for several months. I'm impressed with the Manager, the Deputies, and all the Staff team. They've really help Mum manage this big change in her life. They keep me updated about Mum. The Staff are kind and compassionate and skilled at their
jobs. The home is always clean. My mum loves the food and thinks the chef is wonderful. The Home arrange lovely activities, and special events for Residents. It's a small care home and to me that's a plus, and the Staff seem to know their Residents really well. For us the priority when looking for a Care Home was about the way the Home is run, the People that work there, and their skills, kindness and compassion, and that they can keep our Mum safe, and Montgomery Care Home Staff are all doing this really brilliantly, which is hugely reassuring.

Our lovely dad became a resident at Montgomery Care Home in November 2022 until November 2023. Dad had Alzheimer’s disease. From the moment he arrived he was treated with compassion and respect by the fantastic team. The residents here are always together in the large and airy lounge. My brother and
I often arrived unannounced and dad was always happy, spotlessly clean and well-fed. In fact, Dad gained 3 stone in weight whilst he was a resident, a true testament to the staff and the wonderful cooks! Dad’s room was well appointed, spacious and bright and always cleaned to a very high standard. His clothes were always laundered and smelt fresh. Our dad sadly passed away after a short illness in November 2023 and whilst in hospital the medical professionals at Whiston Hospital remarked how well looked after dad was. They remarked on the condition of his skin, hair and nails, such a comfort to us. Thank you to each and every staff member for making our dad's final days so happy and safe.

My dad has been in this care home for five nights, he is in for three weeks. He has settled in well with the help of the staff. They have gone above and beyond for him. He wasn’t eating at home and now he is eating bits. Caring at home was becoming very difficult. When we went to visit him, he was perky,
chatty and had colour in his cheeks. Had been showered, shaved and looked well. He has dementia and Alzheimer’s, had it for nearly four years. When we left he was sat at a dining table and talking to two men sat at the table. It wasn’t about what he was saying it was the fact that he was socialising. Mum and I got a wave and a smile when we left, this showed us he was happy and didn’t want to leave with us.
It was a very hard decision to place Dad in a care home, especially for Mum. Having seen him in there and spoken to the staff, we know it was the right decision. The staff have been very supportive to us, they go above and beyond for the residents.
Saying thank you doesn’t seem enough.

This is my second visit this year to Montgomery Care Home as a respite resident. I was allocated a nice room next to the lift as requested. Room looked newly decorated and furnished. Although overlooking main road very quiet. Laundry done every morning and returned by lunch. Room cleaned every morning.
All rooms fitted with sensor alarm. Dining room bright and airy. Cooks came out to chat to residents. Garden lounge very comfortable. Residents very friendly. Staff very friendly and efficient. Residents can sit in garden with carer. Meals good choice and snacks morning and afternoon. Feel as though I have made many new friends and look forward to returning.

My dad is currently in this care home and I must say the staff that work there are all lovely. They go above and beyond they all work to 100% and I could not be happier. They make sure he eats his meals and his personal hygiene has increased greatly and he is enjoying regular days out doing the things
he used to love. I can not thank them enough for their hard work and dedication if you are looking for a care home for your loved one I would not hesitate to put them here.

From the day my nan was placed in this care home we had problems (some I am not allowed to discuss). Briefly, her wedding ring of 60+ years got ‘lost’. All clothing we sent in was never seen, always other people’s belongings in her wardrobe. She was always hungry when we would visit and never had access
to water in her room. No buzzer or anything to ask for some. Covered in bruises and saying she was scared. The attitude of staff was that they just couldn’t be bothered, nobody to speak to regarding the increase in medication, they sent the chef! We asked for a manager's meeting and got ignored (he works from home even when the home was allowed visits). Her room window was the staff smoker's corner. She had three falls within twelve hours and paramedics were concerned about her care which meant she was no longer allowed to return to the home. Then spent two months in hospital before passing away before we could see her. We went to collect her belongings they gave us another resident's jewellery from the safe.

My father had another fall in this care home n 13/11/20 (the latest in a history of falls). He was subsequently admitted to A and E and it was determined he had broken his hip. He went through an operation on 15/11/20 and following this operation sadly passed away two days later in 17/11/20. I contacted
the home manager by email on 19/11/20 to ask for the circumstances surrounding my fathers latest fall. I emailed three times actually and also telephoned the home. But alas she did not return my call. It is now more than three weeks after this latest incident and no one from the home has been bothered to contact me. Absolutely appalling behaviour from a care provider. I have contacted the CQC and local authority safeguarding and also forwarded my concerns to HM Coroner. I’m hoping that with the subsequent investigation by these organisations the truth will finally be able to be told. I would not put any loved one in this facility.

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.600)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.600) out of 10 for Montgomery Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.750 for Montgomery Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (28 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.75
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.85 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Montgomery Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 5 = 0.6
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
