Afton Lodge

We are made very welcome by the staff when visiting our friend, and taken to a quiet, bright and comfortable room and offered tea or coffee. this has helped our friend settle in as this is what she would do at home.

My mum seems as settled as she can be, she has advanced dementia and can sometimes be difficult. The carers are patient and supportive and do not force her to do things if she doesn't want to, instead they offer encouragement.

My mum went into respite for 2 weeks, and settled in very well. She hadn't slept in a bed for over 12 years, which caused issues with her legs, but within the short space of time, she was back to sleeping in a bed most nights, which also improved her legs. The staff were very patient and encouraging with my mum getting showers, which I struggled with in the past. There was always a good variety of activities on throughout the week, which my mum always enjoyed taking part in. My mum is now there permanently, and she absolutely loves it.

Good contact with management always informed of any issues, good food cooked daily.

The staff are very friendly and always willing to talk about my mum whenever I ask how she has been doing. The Lodge is always very clean and obviously I can only say about my mum's room, but it is always clean. Mum always had a choice of food at meal times, which I think is very good. I couldn't wish Mum to be in a better place.

The management and senior staff strive to educate the staff and lead by example.

Very homely feel to home when visiting, auntie is always smiling. Pleasant staff. Hydration station is a great idea and always stocked up.

Putting a loved one into a care home is hard and daunting. Afton Lodge Care Home has made that decision easier, and mum is thriving in the home. Care is brilliant and done with compassion and warmth by the team. I could not have wished for anything better, and the team exceeded expectations. Thank you!

My mum seems really happy and settled at Afton Lodge Rest Home. I am happy with the level of care my mum receives, the staff are very caring and friendly, and I'm happy that my mum is being really looked after by everyone at Afton Lodge Rest Home.

My father has been on the pathway, and the care and attention he has received from the managers and staff at Afton Lodge has been outstanding. He has been a resident since 2014 and has spent many happy years here. It was his home, and he had been so well looked after and cared for during his time there. Thank you to all the team, this is such a lovely place to live.

Dad had been a resident at Afton Lodge since 2013. He was always very well cared for, clean and well shaven in his presentation and had a good rapport with staff.

I cannot speak more highly of Afton Lodge my mother was only there for 3 months. The care she received was excellent. All the staff so caring. they made her so comfortable at the end of her life.

I have been visiting Afton Lodge for the past several months and I find it a very comfortable establishment. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I can't comment on buildings and facilities really because I am not on site for long periods. My aunt who resides there is happy, she always comments on how much she thinks of the staff and she always says the food is lovely. I would find it hard to criticise Afton Lodge and being a care worker myself I would recommend it to anyone.

My dad recently moved here. He has settled in fine. The staff have really helped with Dad settling into Afton Lodge. The staff are always available to speak to if we have any problems or need any help.

A caring and cheerful atmosphere. Very clean and comfortable for residents. Clothing always matching and clean. The staff are always helpful.

Cannot fault the care but the interior needs updating.

We visit a friend, the staff are very friendly. We know he is difficult but the staff do a great job. The building could do with refurbishing.

Experience as a visitor. Comparison with website exterior: garden etc disappointing. However, this is made up for by the caring and attentiveness of care and support staff. Cleanliness and tidiness and anti-covid measures are excellent. My husband has very much enjoyed his short stay here. Congrats to all concerned.

Where practical and safe independence respected (stroke and Parkinson's). Good liaison with family. Supervision not invasive but friendly and helpful and necessary. Staff cheerful, always there when needed. Excellent teamwork settled me in from point of arrival to departure. A vast improvement from hospital stay. Overall a pleasant and happy experience - would look forward to a repeat visit. Problems dealt with promptly and efficiently.
