Currently my husband comes to Abbeycroft 2 days a week, but also 4 week per annual respite. My decision to leave him for respite is based on our experience of daycare where he is taken care of in a way that is good for us both. He smiles going in and sometimes doesn't want to come home. The staff are so attentive and everyone knows your name.

Everytime we come and see out grandma we are so happy that she is happy - the staff are so attentive and caring they go above and beyond - Sam is great with all the residents she treat them like family and really does care - as do all staff nothing is too much trouble for us as family and residents. My grandma is thriving. Thank you.

Betty is extremely happy here as she is so well cared for . Thank you to all the staff, you are doing a brilliant job. I wish there was bit more entertainment for the resident , singers or even if Steven could have a tablet he could take round and play the resident favourite music.

My mum went into respite for 2 weeks, and settled in very well. She hadn't slept in a bed for over 12 years, which caused issues with her legs, but within the short space of time, she was back to sleeping in a bed most nights, which also improved her legs. The staff were very patient and encouraging with my mum getting showers, which I struggled with in the past. There was always a good variety of activities on throughout the week, which my mum always enjoyed taking part in. My mum is now there permanently, and she absolutely loves it.

My mum arrived at Newlands in October 2025 from Hospital. Since her arrival, she has improved so much and settled in so well. She is very happy in her new home. The staff are very caring and attentive and have made her feel so welcome and loved. They are all very caring towards her and treat her with dignity at all times. This has given our family the peace of mind we were looking for, knowing that she is safe and happy. Moving to Newlands has been the best decision we made for her and for us. The staff and management give an all round excellent service and i would highly recommend this home to anyone that is looking to make a decision for their loved ones.

Our family has been incredibly impressed with the care and support provided at this care home. The staff are warm, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to residents' wellbeing. The atmosphere is welcoming, the facilities are kept to a high standard, and communication with families is excellent. It's reassuring to know our relative is safe, comfortable, and cared for with kindness every day. We're truly grateful for everything the team does.

Good contact with management always informed of any issues, good food cooked daily.

The staff are very friendly and always willing to talk about my mum whenever I ask how she has been doing. The Lodge is always very clean and obviously I can only say about my mum's room, but it is always clean. Mum always had a choice of food at meal times, which I think is very good. I couldn't wish Mum to be in a better place.

The management and senior staff strive to educate the staff and lead by example.

Very homely feel to home when visiting, auntie is always smiling. Pleasant staff. Hydration station is a great idea and always stocked up.

My father received wonderful care at The Laurels. The whole team are incredibly professional and are every bit as dedicated to accommodating family as they are to looking after residents. Knowing my father was in their hands is a great source of consolation. Nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The team are an absolutely amazing group of people.

Putting a loved one into a care home is hard and daunting. Afton Lodge Care Home has made that decision easier, and mum is thriving in the home. Care is brilliant and done with compassion and warmth by the team. I could not have wished for anything better, and the team exceeded expectations. Thank you!

My mum seems really happy and settled at Afton Lodge Rest Home. I am happy with the level of care my mum receives, the staff are very caring and friendly, and I'm happy that my mum is being really looked after by everyone at Afton Lodge Rest Home.

Always a good experience going to see mum, staff are always friendly and helpful. They are all very busy but always find time for a little update and to see if I want a drink. Abbeycroft is nice and clean, and very rarely smelled of urine. My friend was in there 20+ years ago and it was not as clean as it is now. The food looks good and is always a choice. I would say all over very good.

My father has been on the pathway, and the care and attention he has received from the managers and staff at Afton Lodge has been outstanding. He has been a resident since 2014 and has spent many happy years here. It was his home, and he had been so well looked after and cared for during his time there. Thank you to all the team, this is such a lovely place to live.

Dad had been a resident at Afton Lodge since 2013. He was always very well cared for, clean and well shaven in his presentation and had a good rapport with staff.

It's really good to know that my aunt is extremely happy at the care home and has all her needs catered for. The public areas are always clean and tidy, and the management and staff extremely helpful, caring and approachable. A nice welcome when visiting is always appreciated, as is a lovely cup of coffee! I feel totally relaxed knowing that my aunt is being well looked after and that everything is done to make her feel comfortable and well cared for.

My Mum went into Newlands Hall from Dewsbury Hospital. The staff were amazing at the home. Excellent care, can't fault them at all. Mum was very happy to be home and everyone thought mum was amazing. Every member of staff were great. Mum took to one of the Careers and he quickly became her fourth Grandson. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a place that really cares.
