We consider ourselves fortunate that care of such high quality is available for our mother. Thank you.
My sister is very happy and more relaxed since coming to Thornton Hall and Lodge Care Home. She has settled in and is always walking about, so much so she will wonder off to have a chat with other residents. I only hope she can stay here for her future wellbeing. I see a vast different in her moods in her day to day dealings and involvements with all the staff. She has no problems, so I have no cares about her ongoing welfare whilst she remains in Thornton Hall and Lodge Care Home.
I always find Thornton Hall & Lodge Care Home to be welcoming and bright. Smells are kept to a minimum as rooms are refreshed when necessary. I have been to other care homes where this is not the case. The staff smile and are very approachable. When the mayoress visited, nothing needed to change as it was always nice.
Thank you for your review. Thornton Hall & Lodge prides itself on a 'family feel' and our domestic team maintains very high standards.
Mum has been staying here for almost three years in the dementia (lodge) side of Thornton Hall. As this is the only care home I have experienced with Mum, I can't compare it with others. Overall, Mum appears to be well treated but I have no idea what her day-to-day routine is as I get little to no communication from management (apart from social media posts). A good idea would be for a forum to be created between friends and families of the residents to share experiences to improve the facility for both residents and staff. I can see lots of potential to improve this care home for all.
Thank you for your review. Please look out for posters informing everyone of relatives and residents meetings. Moving forward we will post on our social media site. Thank you for your feedback.
The reception is very good. Some changes to the lodge lounge. The chairs are not very good, uncomfortable. Dining tables could be set out at meal times (re table cloths). This is just my opinion.
Thank you for your review. Our reception team our always warm and friendly. Thank you for your suggestions on further improvements and I will certainly look at putting this in place.
Looked after my mother with great care, especially after a recent fall and advised me of progress and kept me informed.
Thornton Hall & Lodge Care Home offers a very warm and welcoming environment for both residents and their families. The staff are very helpful, attentive and caring my mum has been very well looked after in the eleven months since she moved there following her diagnosis of dementia. She loves to get involved with all the activities that they lay on to keep the residents' minds and bodies active - from playing games to gardening, to meeting animals, watching films and having a sing and a dance! I have great peace of mind knowing she is being well looked after and would highly recommend Thornton Hall to anyone looking for a care home.
Outstanding dedication and care from staff at all times. Nothing is too much trouble, from senior care staff, care workers, domestics and admin staff. Always polite and attentive while I've been visiting. The entertainment program is next to none. Residents always doing or being involved in some sort of activity. Would highly recommend this home to anyone.
Hello, thank you so much for leaving a review and for your kind words. Our team at Thornton are so grateful to you for taking time out to write this review and we really appreciate the feedback. It means all their hard work is noticed. Best wishes.
This has been reported and the home say they might be able to move my inlaws. That is not acceptable.
My father stayed for a period of two weeks from Monday 25th April to Monday 9th May at Thornton Hall. During this time, the care the staff provided was outstanding. All staff were friendly, and all went the extra mile. Special mention to three members of staff (deputy manager included) as they all were so kind and thoughtful to our dad. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your review of Thornton Hall and Lodge. It is always lovely to see a great review and especially, individual staff getting a mention. We do strive to provide an excellent standard of care for our residents.
Can't thank the staff enough for the ongoing care they provide for my mum. All of the staff, managers, carers, kitchen staff and laundry staff each and everyone are fantastic nothing is too much for them. Communication with the home has been excellent when needed. Cannot recommend the home enough it's such a happy place and they do treat the residents as if they were their own.
Thank you. Our care team will be so pleased to hear your comments.
I am very grateful for all the care and support that my mum gets. It has been wonderful to be able to visit her at last, and I am appreciative of the way that visits have been arranged and for the support of all the staff.

My Mum has been a resident since end Dec 2019, she had been quite poorly having been in hospital since October. Apart from her Dementia, she has a lot of mobility problems, but with the wonderful care and support she has received since being in Thornton Hall, she has improved so much and is starting to feel so much better. She tells me how kind everyone is to her and how safe she feels. Knowing she is being well looked after, as her daughter, having to have made life-changing decisions on her behalf, I could not be happier that this is how she feels. The 'Housekeeping' needs a special mention - my Mum's wing and her room are always so clean and tidy.

My mum was admitted to Thornton Hall in October 2019. We are very happy with the care she is receiving and all the staff have been very professional in their work. Nothing is any trouble for the staff to do. I would definitely recommend the home to friends.

My dad moved into Thornton Lodge in the middle of December. We had tried our best to enable him to stay at home but it was just no longer possible. This broke my heart and I felt so guilty. The staff and management team could not have been kinder to my dad or us, reassuring us all the way and looking after dad so well. We are only 6 weeks in but I have been nothing but happy with the care my dad has received, and how the whole situation has been handled with compassion, respect and dignity. One slight issue we had, was dealt with promptly and effectively. My dad has settled well and we are content knowing that he is safe and cared for. Thank you to everyone at Thornton Lodge.

My mother was a resident at Thornton Hall for over seven years, from May 2012 until her death at the age of 97 in September 2019. During these years, she received the highest possible quality of care. She was always a strong independent woman, but towards the end of her life, veritably her needs increased. At Thornton Hall, she was always treated as a valued individual with respect and dignity, as well as the utmost fondness. Her end of life care was eximious, and the kindness of the wonderful staff at Thornton Hall extended to me, her daughter, and the members of our close family. We will always be indebted to absolutely every one of the staff at Thornton Hall for everything that they did for my mother for seven wonderful years. They knew and understood her so well.

My thoughts on Thornton Hall & Lodge are very positive, also with regards to the care and attention that the residents receive, this is excellent. I think that also I have noticed the managerial side is very responsive when approached.
