Carmel Lodge Care Home

I cannot fault the care and attention Mum has received over the last 4 years and would highly recommend Carmel Lodge.

We were initially anxious about putting our dad into a care home but we needed some respite care. From our first contact with Carmel Lodge to the day our dad left, we were very pleased with the care our dad received. All the staff were extremely friendly and caring to both our dad and ourselves. Dad enjoyed the food and said they made a decent cup of coffee!

My mum was placed at Carmel Lodge via social services after a prolonged stay in the hospital, so I didn't get a chance to view the home or facilities beforehand, and there was no visiting due to Covid. However, when I was eventually allowed to visit, I was very impressed by the level of care my mum is receiving. Your staff are amazing, nothing is too much, and this applies to management all the way through to your maintenance staff. My only reservation is that the bedrooms are very tired looking, I have tried to make her room better with bedding and pictures, but the chairs are a bit grubby. That said, I believe this is to be addressed in the coming months.

I really appreciated being able to visit my mother when her health deteriorated suddenly.

The staff is always helpful and polite. Appear very responsive to my Mum's needs. The facility always clean and tidy. Have generally kept me up to date through the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately have not been able to video call due to IT issues at the facility.

We fell she is being very well looked after.

Feel extremely lucky that my grandma is looked after by so many amazing team members. Thank you for keeping her safe during COVID-19. Amazing.

Staff excellent. Standards very high.

Good standard of care and cleanliness. All staff know all the residents and I am happy that Dad is well cared for all the time. I am particularly pleased with the visiting process to keep residents safe and happy during these difficult times. All queries have been quickly and efficiently dealt with by the team.

The level of care mum is received is the best she has ever had. The consistency of care is keeping her well and she is the most stable she has been in many years. Thank you

I visited my mother during the Coronavirus lockdown and was very pleased to find the home was calm and relaxed, with no sign of stress among staff or residents. It felt the same as usual, which was a real achievement, given the very difficult circumstances.

All the staff are very nice. There is a pleasant atmosphere at Carmel Lodge.

During the six years that my wife has been resident at Carmel Lodge, she has been cared for with unfailing professionalism, kindness and affection. She is well-fed, comfortable and responds to some of the activities, in so far as her severe stage dementia permits. I cannot believe that her care could be provided any better.

All staff very helpful and attentive.

All carers have a friendly and sympathetic manner. Checks and duties are performed punctually. Home is clean and tidy. Visitors parking and welcome is good.

She has told me on several occasions that she enjoys the food and eating communally in the dining room and speaks highly of the care and catering staff.

I feel that my mum is extremely well cared for with understanding and affection, even though she can sometimes be a little difficult due to her dementia. I appreciate the continuity of staff, which is very important to her since she has now been in Carmel Lodge for over three years. In the past, I did express concerns over cleanliness in the home, but this problem appears to have been completely overcome.

Dad's Alzheimers had degenerated rapidly at the end of 2017. As this was my business' busiest time I was desperate to get him somewhere safe, quickly. The staff came to visit us in his house and we discussed the possibility of respite care, leading to a permanent stay if all went well.

Luckily there was a room available and within a week Dad was able to move in. He settled in very well and seemed to relax hugely from the relief of knowing that he was somewhere safe (he'd taken to wandering in the dark).

From the outset, the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. He's been there for 2 1/2 months now and this has not changed. There's an open door policy for visitors (with the exception of mealtimes) and Dad's needs are perfectly catered for by specialist dementia care staff. He is really happy and gets on well with the other residents. The couple of times I've taken him out (to hospital appointments) he's quite happy to return to the safety of the place he now lives.

The care home is run in a caring and proficient manner. The staff deal with the residents in a professional, caring and sympathetic manner. The food, cleanliness and general appearance of the home are of a high standard and residents look to be well looked after.
