Astor Lodge View

from C C (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 November 2025
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 3.0 out of 5
My father was admitted for rehabilitation following a fall & being in Hospital.
When he arrived the room was cold and initially the door couldn't be propped open.
He had a friendly welcome, but we were not given information about the need to bring extra clothing, despite seeing what clothes had been
brought in and my father having a catheter.
There was an occasion where I had to phone & leave a message for the Dr (who was in the ward meeting) to urgently see my father, because his catheter was blocked & he was in pain. My father's bladder went into spasm & he ended up on tablets for this, following this incident!
The nurses and carers were efficient, kind and caring, but my father did have to speak to one of the carers and ask her to stop shouting at him.
The Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists were excellent.

Wonderful caring staff who are kind to my mum. Cooperative when I need a wheelchair to take mum out. Lovely atmosphere upstairs.
- no weekend receptionist is a big problem - residents tried to reach the button to let herself out today.
- cutlery very dirty/filthy/ unsanitary. Yuck. that has been
for a long time.
- unreliable coffee machine, never any cups/ sugar/ spoons available.

My Mum moved to Cedar Court Care Home at the beginning of August. She is a physically independent 93 year old with mild/moderate Alzheimer's disease.

On the day of arrival we were met at reception by a wonderful nurse who took us to the dementia unit and showed us her room. From this point on Mum's

needs were assessed and it soon became clear that the best location for Mum at this time was the residential wing. Mum then settled very quickly into her new environment. She loves her bright spacious room and thoroughly enjoys her food too!

All staff at Cedar Court are polite, caring and cheerful. Mum is always treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Any queries are dealt with promptly. It is a wonderful homely community and I always enjoy my visits there. It is very hard watching Mum's cognitive state deteriorate but, knowing she is with the most thoughtful and loving staff when I'm not with her, makes the whole situation easier to bear. Many thanks to you all.

I am pleased with the care and attention my Mother receives at Wallace View. My Mother has been a resident for approximately 4 years now and I must say that any problems which pop up are dealt with quickly and efficiently. My Mothers room is clean and tidy. She is always clean and tidy too. The meals
are varied and freshly made. There is always fresh juice in her room and plenty of tea/coffee with biscuits and cake throughout the day. The entertainment staff have lots of different activities, singers etc. Christmas, Valentines Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Birthdays etc are always covered with new activities for the residents to participate in. If my Mother has a fall or an illness I am always kept well informed and in the loop. Whilst nowhere is perfect, belongings and clothes can disappear from time to time. I am in the care home 4 or 5 days a week so I see everything that goes on. From the handyman to the manager, the staff are pleasant and approachable. I would recommend the care

As a visiting professional to this care home for many years, I have always found the home so friendly and welcoming, both to myself and to the residents and their families.
The staff are always on hand when needed and they know each and every resident that lives there and makes time for them all. It
is clean and homely and the activities that are offered are brilliant. It is a fantastic care home.

My Mum has been a resident of Ashmead since January 2024. When she arrived, her behaviour was challenging to say the least. The teams, both inside and outside the home worked very hard to get Mum onto the right medication which they did in the end. The staff treat the residents well, their activity
schedule is always full, room's and communal areas are clean and tidy, and most of all, Mum is settled. She's in the best place she can be because as a family, we cannot give her the care and attention that she needs

I am delighted with the standard of care provided for my mother at Kents Hill Care Home since her arrival in early October 2025. Care homes vary in standards, but clearly the bar here has been set high. Although my 91-year-old mother has quite advanced Alzheimer's, it is clear to me from how quickly
she has settled, that she feels comfortable and safe here - our key concern as family. Staff at all levels are extremely kind, compassionate and in touch with all their residents' needs in their care, and are clearly very professional in their approach. For the first time in a long time, I have seen my mother joyful and joining in with activities willingly. Wonderful.

I find a warm and friendly atmosphere in the home, the staff are all pleasant and very professional. My mam thinks it is a top class hotel where the staff are more like friends.
Mam didn't socialise much but is spending more time in the day room and dining room which I find good for her. If she has
a bad day the staff don't have a problem taking the food to her room. The food must be good as my mam is a fussy eater but she's eating OK.
The laundry staff are on the ball and very helpful. The cleaners are around daily and I've noticed are very considerate and pleasant in the residents space.
All in all mams happy so I'm happy and it's down to the happy atmosphere created by all the staff.
Last but not least management are friendly and informative and keep you in the loop and are very approachable.
THANK YOU FIELD VIEW.

My mum needed a couple of weeks' respite following a recent illness, and she had a comfortable stay in Ashfield Court Care Home. She had a lovely room with an outlook onto the courtyard and enjoyed being able to sit and watch the sky, nature and weather change. She felt safe and secure. The staff were
so kind to her, and she commented on this. She also needed a different mattress, and this was organised quickly for her, and then she had comfortable rest. There is an excellent programme of activities for residents to partake in, but Mum would have done more if she had felt well. In summary, she was well looked after, and I was happy knowing that she was in the good hands of a lovely, caring team.

Claremont Manor provided the best possible end of life care for my mum. The site, room and facilities were immaculate and beautiful and the staff were unfailingly kind and patient with the size of family and number of visitors. Mum was treated as a much-loved individual, not just any old patient,
and she felt confident in the care she was receiving. We could not have asked fir anything more in those final precious weeks of mum's life.

Our mother moved to Claremont from Torbay Hospital, following an unexpected and devastating terminal diagnosis, which also rendered her paralysed. She was resident at Claremont for just under a month before passing away and we could not have hoped for a better place for her to spend those final weeks.
The facilities, staff and care were exceptional, not just for our mother, but for all of us. We are an extremely large family and Mum had many visitors throughout her stay as she came to the end of her life.
We were all treated with kindness and understanding as we navigated the remaining time we had with her. And the care for Mum from all the staff, which we witnessed first hand, was full of compassion, dignity, professionalism and understanding.
At a truly tragic and traumatic time for her and all of us, Claremont provided the ideal environment for her and us to say our goodbyes. We would all like to thank them very much indeed.

Exceptional care for my mother in the last 4 weeks of her life. Every member of staff in all capacities was kind, polite, caring. Claremont Manor was literally a life changer for us all. As a family, we were cared for, given space to be with Mum and we were all supported throughout a difficult time.
We feel so lucky that Mum could be cared for in such a wonderful place, so close to where she lived and where many of the wider family are located. Sadly, she was unable to enjoy Claremont for very long, but she was so well looked after and treated with the utmost dignity and courtesy. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
