I moved my mum to Gateford Hill in September after 10 months in another care home where the care was terrible. I've been very happy as mum now gets person centred care and the staff are pro-active and encourage mum to make choices. The staff genuinely care about Mum's well being and they've also supported
me during an anxious few days when Mum was in hospital last week. Mum and I are included in all discussions about her care and medical needs. I've spent many years working in healthcare myself and have seen many care homes. Gateford Hill is one of the best.

Belvoir Vale have been caring for our mother since June this year. After losing our Dad life at home alone was proving difficult and lonely for her. Initially she went to Belvoir Vale for a 2 week respite stay, she extended her visit initially and has decided to stay rather than go back to living alone.
Our mother has a some complex needs and the home have been flexible, caring and communicative with regards to these. I am assured that they put our mother's care at the forefront of their thinking and do their very best to meet her needs. My mother has a great relationship with all of the staff and is very complimentary about everyone she comes in to contact with.
She would like the food to be a little better but I understand the home are addressing this.
As a family we are very grateful to Belvoir Vale for everything they are doing for our mother and for us.

Mum and step dad moved up in January. This was the best decision. Since moving into Gateford Hill they have both improved significantly in every way.
The care, the staff, the food, and activities have improved their health and quality of life.
All the staff are caring and compassionate, the care is
exceptional. As family we are informed of any changes, appointments, or updates which is reassurance for us.
They love the food that is on offer, so much so they have put on weight, which is a good thing!
It is so lovely to see them enjoying life again together.
Thank you to all the staff

Following a brief stay in hospital, my mother came to Belvoir Vale initially for a week's respite care. After 4 days she loved it so much she decided to stay. She feels secure & is supported day and night. All the staff at B.V. are warm & welcoming, caring & considerate & very respectful - also hard
working. The food has greatly improved since the Head Chef has taken up post but can be variable when he is not on duty. The activities team are returning to full strength & the activities offered are varied & stimulating. The availability of a modern and reliable mini-bus (rather than the current ancient one) for outside visits in a necessity for the mental well-being of the residents who wish to use it. Thank you

As a family of a resident who has lived at the home for a year now, my wife and I are very happy with the way he settled. There is a large staff team who each offer the care and attention needed. The food has not always been up to scratch but with newly appointed chefs is much improved. Sadly, now there
are repairs needed to the mini bus and the "Life Style Team" is depleted due to people leaving their posts. It is to be hoped that they will be replaced soon and a fuller program resume. My father is always clean and well presented. We believe he likes his new home.

My husband had six weeks respite care in Belvoir Vale after a stay in hospital. He was extremely well looked after. There were always several members of staff around and they were always cheerful, attentive and willing to help. He as very well fed and gained much needed weight.
We wouldn't hesitate
to recommend Belvoir Vale.

I wish mum could stay with you but we have run out of money. I cannot fault the service the staff and management give to my mother. They are amazing! Only one small problem is she has lost her top set of teeth whilst a resident and now her hearing aid. Care, food, cleaning all fantastic. Mum could have
been encouraged to do more activities, that is the only thing of note. Following a stroke her legs could have done with a little exercise.

Since arriving at Belvoir Vale the care Dad has received has been consistently high, the caring staff have shown kindness, respect and dignity towards Dad whilst settling in which is greatly appreciated. Although the quality of food products (in particular meat and fish) are sometimes below standard
which seems is maybe down to your chosen suppliers resulting in a challenge for any good cook! I know that the female chefs go out of their way to ask Dad daily for his preferences to then make and serve meals they know he'll enjoy. The activities are regular and varied. I hope there may be options for residents that have the capacity to maybe be taken out for a pub lunch or quiz in a more sociable 'non care home' setting. We were so grateful that the bus driver and activities team went above and beyond to help arrange a trip for Dad to go to the races. I found it difficult to rate the management category as I have not yet had the opportunity to meet the Manager of the home.

My Mum passed away recently following many years at Belvoir Vale where my father had also been a resident some time before. The Care is excellent and the staff have much empathy and compassion for the residents. There is very much a Team environment and good communication.
The Home is not standing still
as it is always looking at improving systems, listening to relatives and residents. This is clearly seen within the Activities programme.
Thank you for making my Mum's last few years enjoyable and comfortable. This was her home.

My Mum spent five happy years at Belvoir Vale where she thrived. After a couple of respite visits she took the decision to move to the home permanently. Mum quickly made new friends and thoroughly enjoyed all the amazing activities that the home offered. She had dementia but with the move to Belvoir
Vale she was able to relax and she no longer had to worry about the pressures of daily life. Belvoir Vale is extremely well led and all staff go above and beyond in everything they do. They work brilliantly as a team and are highly valued which is clearly reflected in their happiness at work. The standard of care is outstanding and staff all have a great knowledge and understanding of the residents. Everyone is treated as a family member and with compassion and dignity. The rooms are gorgeous and furnished to a high standard. The food is freshly prepared and the residents are given plenty of choice. The home is in a great location set in well maintained beautiful grounds.

My mum has been in several care/nursing homes over the past 4 years. She has had many bad experiences in the past so we were very reluctant to have her staying in another. I can honestly and truthfully say from the start to finish of Mum's care at Gateford Hill Care Home, it has been exceptional. I
would like to compliment and thank the managers and staff for looking after and nursing Mum. Mum will be staying again and I have no hesitation in recommending Gateford Hill Care Home.

Gateford Hill and all its staff are truly outstanding. The care, empathy, compassion professionalism they give to residents and their families is matched nowhere else. They ensure that all needs are met and go the extra mile to make them feel at home and ensure they have access to all kinds of activities
no matter what their care needs. Sadly my father-in-law was on end of life in April early May and the care they provided to him and us as a family was amazing. Even down to checking that we had drinks while we stayed with him, did we need any food all the little things that get forgotten about for families. They even offered hugs when they were most needed. We feel overwhelmingly lucky that he was able to be cared for at Gateford and even at the end was able to stay there and give us peace that to the last moments it was just how anyone should be cared for. We will always have a special place in our hearts for this care home and its amazing staff.

Mum is battling Alzheimer's and has been for over 5 years. We've just had her first respite (one week) at BV's dementia unit. I visited many homes before making a decision including large brand new businesses. BV is highly resident-focused, caring, kind, and clean. Mum has put weight on and enjoyed
3 cooked meals/day plus copious drinks and biscuits! She's come home much more mentally alert and is also cheerful - an improvement from pre-respite. Thank you to every staff member who helped us from day one (The two men from Maintenance -moving room furniture around for safety) and to one staff member in particular for helping with baggage on leaving. BV's care staff showed only patience and dedication. A couple of issues I highlighted were dealt with promptly and in full.
