My dad was under palliative care and Woodland Care Home offered us a place for the short time he had left. The two weeks were filled with kind staff, good food, dignified care and support for both my father and myself. It was a short time and a difficult period, but it was made easier by the care home staff.

This is a small and homely nursing home with a great family atmosphere. My husband was admitted for palliative and end of life care with terminal cancer. Staff worked very well together and looked after my husband in a loving and respectful way. Care was taken to preserve my husbands dignity and his individual needs were taken into consideration. He was taken out for walks in a wheelchair in the sunshine to cheer him up, an individual visit to a garden centre which he enjoyed. He settled in much sooner than we expected and he felt safe and cared for. The nurses were towers of strength to us and had my husbands needs and medical and psychologically much at heart. The carers did a great job and looked after him in a kindly and gentle way and also supported and reassured us- his anxious family. I feel truly grateful to have found The Hawthorns. It may not be posh, modern and shiny, but it is a haven of loving kindness, good care and medical support for those lucky enough to walk through it's doors.

Really lovely staff, every single one we spoke to was kind and caring and provided fantastic care for my dad. Nice facilities including a lovely garden. All I could say is the carpark is a-bit small but that's being really picky. Would definitely recommend.

We were warmly welcomed every time we walked in the door, we got to know the staff very well. Every day towards the end while we she could she thanked them for looking after her. Every day there is entertainment of some kind, be it in the lounge, days out, or in the enclosed gardens. This is my third and final review, from my first to last nothing has changed my original opinion Mary Chapman is an excellent care home, that enriches the lives of those that live there.

My dad came to Woodlands for end-of-life care. My sister and I had a really positive experience from the first time we visited to meet the manager. We felt that everyone we came into contact with had real warmth and cared about what they did. All the residents seemed happy and settled. We can't thank you enough for the care and love Dad received. He seemed to relax into the home quickly and easily and it was the great staff that made this such an easy transition for him - thank you

My son received the most excellent care at Woodlands, Staff are literally second to none. A small but important memory was that everyone remembered mine and my family's name, every time we visited they were just wonderful. We will never forget.

I've found the care home to be clean, tidy and well run by the management team and nursing team. Good location.

I have been so happy with Mary Chapman. I NEVER worry about my aunties care. They are on top of everything. I visit at varying hours several days a week. The staff are attentive and on top of everything. I never could have imagined her care could have been so good. My auntie is so happy and comfortable there. She says the food is amazing. I don't stress or worry. I never worry when I have to go out of town for a while for work, as I know that she gets top quality care all the time. I live in the peace of knowing my mother would be so happy with the home I picked out for her baby sister.

My aunt, who was a 100 years old, was only here for seven weeks before she passed. But in her last few weeks, she could not have received better care from every member of the staff who cared for her. They took time to chat and get to know her and treated her so well. It made a very difficult time easier for the whole family, especially my uncle, who was so pleased with the care she received. Once again, thank you from all our family.

My aunt was with you for only a short time, but she was looked after and treated veare ry well. She loved her room. Staff all very pleasant and helpful. Thank you to all.

My husband was resident @ Dussingdale for 4 weeks until his death on 19/4/26. From the start when myself and daughter were shown around the home until Graeme's death I have nothing but the manager, every single person treated Graeme and my family with the utmost respect and kindness. All staff were warm, welcoming, friendly and fully aware of Graeme's prognosis and care requirements. As a family we felt fully included in planning his end of life care. The home environment is maintained to a high standard, good personal care for residents is priority as is the cleanliness of individual rooms. During an incredibly difficult time for my family I would rate this home as 5 star!

Outstanding care with lovely staff who communicated clearly and consistently. Medication was administered safely with no issues. Staff were lovely and always went the extra mile to support mum and make sure she was happy and had everything she needed. They encouraged her to leave her room and participate with activities. They catered for her dietary needs and made her feel safe and listened to. Mum wants to go back as a day visitor as she enjoyed the activities. Fully recommend

My husband arrived here Tuesday 20th January. I am so happy that my husband came here, and it's taken the pressure off my daughter also. The staff are so lovely, very helpful, and friendly. My husband has settled quicker than I thought he would. I feel happy when I leave him, knowing he is in good hands. Thank you.
