From our initial enquiry as a family we could not be happier and grateful of Croft House.
We have been navigating the heartbreaking journey of mum's vascular dementia and Alzheimer's for some years. We knew mum's needs could now only be met in Dementia Nursing.
As a family we did our due diligence
and visited countless Care / Nursing Homes in the Wakefield area.
Croft House just felt right as we walked in. The welcome was lovely and heartwarming. To see our dad smile for the first time in a long time was everything and we knew from our initial visit that Croft House was where we wished for mum to be cared for. Mum has been at Croft House for one month now. The level of care is Gold Standard. It is apparent that the staff are there as a vocation and not just a job. They really do care and with a smile too.
We visit mum everyday. Visiting is welcomed at anytime and never discouraged.
Reply from Billie Newton-Archer, Senior Operations Manager at Croft House Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review and choosing Croft House. It is a pleasure to be a part of Mum's journey.

I can say my overall view based on how I have seen staff members caring for my friend and other residents is excellent, also the kind way they treat visitors. My friend has been a resident for a long time and in that time I have seen a lot of changes for the good.
I say a heart felt Thank you for looking
after my friend so well and for your hard work. I say all staff of different role from the manager to the cleaners are important and by working together makes it feel safe and homely.

Excellent care given throughout stay. Staff gave above and beyond care through end of life.
Shirley was very happy, met new friends, and she loved all the staff and relationships with them. Enjoyed the music afternoons.
Room could do with updating.

The Mother's Day Afternoon Tea was fabulous. The thought and care that had gone into organising was very evident. The presentation was excellent. There was a very good selection of food. The scones were my standout favourite. But everything was delicious. An excellent idea and highlight of the week.
This review is specifically for Mother's Day Morning Tea.
Reply from Measha Savage, Home Manager at Croft House Care HomeThank you for sharing this, it's wonderful to hear how much the Mother's Day tea was enjoyed. The team put a lot of heart into making it feel special, so knowing the food, presentation and atmosphere all hit the mark really means a lot. We're especially glad the scones were a standout!!

My mom has been a resident here for the last two years. She had been treated very kindly and with the greatest respect. Any issues we had were dealt with quickly and were resolved to a satisfactory outcome. All the staff are lovely, and my mum could not praise them enough. They were very patient and
understanding with her, and she was very happy here.

We as a family were happy and impressed with the care our mam received whilst a resident. All management and staff were always ready with a smile to greet us and could not do enough to make our mam as loved as we a family did. Unfortunately our mam has now passed away she was given the same dignity
in death as she was in life. We would greatly recommend Manor Park Nursing Home we wish mam had been a resident sooner.
Reply from Paulette Taylor, Home Manager at Manor Park Care HomeThank you for sharing such heartfelt feedback. I cannot praise Croft House Care Home management, carers & domestic staff enough for the continuing care of my husband for the last 16 months of his life. He passed peacefully on the 17th Feb with all the love, care and compassion from nurses & care staff on duty. I honestly believe they gave him an
extra 6 months of really good quality of life.

I just want to say how good Howgate House is and how good the staff are with my mum, they go the extra mile in all her care, they get her into the lounge when they can, even though she is bedbound. They feed her and are so respectful of her needs, and I have no complaints of the care she is given.

My Aunt moved into Manor Park from a hospice and was naturally worried about the move. All the staff at Manor Park did their utmost to put her at ease. Her room was newly decorated and the handyman put up a TV and clock on the wall and we were able to make the room fairly homely. The staff treated my
Aunt with dignity, respect and compassion at all times and all her visitors were welcomed and looked after well. The nursing staff were great and they were always willing to keep us informed of my Aunt's medication which gave us assurance that her pain was being managed effectively. I would like to thank the whole team for making my Aunt's final weeks as comfortable as possible.
Reply from Paulette Taylor, Home Manager at Manor Park Care HomeThank you so much for your kind words. It means a great deal to our team to know that your Aunty felt well cared for and supported during her time with us. We always aim to provide compassionate, attentive care and to keep families fully informed, so hearing that this brought comfort to you all is truly appreciated.

Please accept our heartfelt condolences for your loss. It was a privilege to be part of her care, and we're grateful that you took the time to share this message with us.

My dad moved into Manor Park Care Home in October 2025. I am really pleased he has settled in well. He is clean and well cared for he is also really comfortable. The staff are all really friendly and approachable and nothing is too much trouble. They decorated the spare room space for his birthday in
November, and baked cakes and buns for all the family which was a lovely touch. If ever there are any concerns, if you speak with the manager she sees to things right away. I'm so glad I chose Manor Park it feel homely and welcoming.

My mother has been a resident on Blue Bell Ward since July 2024.
My mother has advanced dementia and has growing needs.
When my mother first moved in, the place appeared to suit my mother's needs.
It was quickly apparent the home was failing to meet basic needs for my mother and other residents
too.
She was loosing weight and her general appearance was not good.
I also feel her emotional needs we also not met.
All our concerns were presented in a professional manner and escalated upwards as and when required.
Problems continued and management / nurses were inept and changed on numerous occasions.
Social services and CQC became involved and many concerns were raised.
From my perspective the blue bell ward upstairs was a forgotten area.
After numerous meeting and change of management and staff the home now appears to have turned a corner.
Things are running much better and there is a positive atmosphere
Please keep it up for everyone's sake.
Thankyou.

We were very lucky to secure a place at Howgate Care Home in Idle.
Dad was welcomed into Howgate Care Home in May 2023 following a massive stroke. It was a difficult time for Dad and the family as we all adjusted to him moving from regular independent life to a care home.
The administration team
and management helped us navigate the process and provided endless support.
The care staff are absolutely amazing, they cared for Dad like he was one of their own family. He was encouraged to retain some independence. They genuinely cared for his physical and mental health.
They recognised when he was home sick or his mood was low and made time to chat, making him feel like 'somebody' when he felt like a 'nobody'.
Staff encouraged him to take part in some of the numerous activities available, when he was reluctant they brought the activities to him.
During his time in Howgate he was always treated with the upmost respect and dignity.
We would absolutely recommend this care home.

Mum became a resident in July 2024 and from that time was looked after with respect and dignity. Mum sadly passed in September 2025, and for all that year, the care she received was excellent, with many of the staff often going the extra mile.
