When my mum came to Birch Heath Lodge, it was a very difficult decision for our family, as it often is when a loved one moves into care. However, throughout the years that mum lived there, we saw just how settled and happy she became. She truly loved the staff who cared for her and the home itself.
It
is hard to fully express how much the care, love, dignity and attention she received meant to us. My mum herself had been a matron caring for the elderly, and myself a clinical nurse for 32 years, I feel I can honestly say the standard of care she received was exceptional.
Everyone was always so friendly, caring and kind -not only to mum, but also to us as a family, especially on the more difficult days when visiting could be emotional. The home always had such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with many staff having worked there for years, which says a great deal in itself.
Never once did I feel worried or upset about leaving my mum in their care, and for that we will always be truly grateful.
Reply from Tina Routledge, Home Manager at Birch Heath LodgeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and touching review. We know that making the decision for a loved one to move into a care home can be incredibly difficult, and it means so much to us to hear that your mum truly felt at home at Birch Heath Lodge. Your kind words about the care your mum received are deeply appreciated, as it is especially meaningful coming from someone with such extensive experience in nursing. Supporting residents and their families through both joyful and emotional days is at the heart of what we do, and your feedback will mean a great deal to everyone here. It was a privilege to be part of her life, and we send our warmest wishes to you and your family.

Our mum moved into Birch Heath in October 2025 due to dementia and a stroke. Her room was so lovely and light, looking out on the garden, and the staff were so helpful in making it her own.
Mum really enjoyed the food and activities, and loved the friendly and caring staff, who really looked after
her and made her comfortable.
We really can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and care and for being there for us all.
Reply from Tina Routledge, Home Manager at Birch Heath LodgeThank you for taking the time to leave us a lovely review. The staff work hard, and it is great hearing how much of a difference this makes to peoples lives.

My Father was in Carmel lodge from dec 25 -march 9th 26 he had very late stage Alzheimer's myself and my sister went daily and were my dads voice , we felt like was he a burden to management and some staff , his care was less than adequate and not because of the staff as the majority were very caring
just not enough of them but it was the way it was managed, we constantly had to ask for help ie to help us with our dad to get in and out of bed and general Personal hygiene which was very upsetting for us he was left in wet soiled underwear ( adult nappies ) regularly even though we were told he was changed every 2/3 hours sometimes we asked for help and just got handed a pair of gloves he had a few falls ( some not documented ) the care was poor due to being severely understaffed and sadly had an impact on our dad ,the manger had no empathy at all we felt like my dad was just a number This place seriously needs an inspection and overhaul

My husband has been a resident since November 25 and I could not be more happy with the care he has received. Everyone, from management, care staff, housekeepers and cleaners are so lovely and treat him with dignity and respect. Everyone has a welcome smile when I visit and nothing is too much trouble.
It's so hard when your loved one has to go into care but rest assured I feel happy that my husband will be well looked after, when my visit is over. Thank you, everyone.

My brother went to Cavendish Court Care Home on Monday, 12th January 2026 for respite care and assessment for future living arrangements.
When we arrived, we were clearly expected and greeted by Karen on Reception and introduced to both the Care Home Manager and Assistant Manager; the warm and welcoming
atmosphere was apparent. We were shown to my brother's room, which required some minor re-arrangement due to right sided weakness, this was undertaken quickly and efficiently, again with obvious concern to ensure the layout was totally suitable for my brother.
We were introduced to the support and hospitality team, again, they were exceptionally welcoming, showed a genuine interest in my brother and were clearly keen to make him feel welcome, comfortable and provide reassurance that he would be well cared for.
From arriving to my husband and I leaving, we were totally impressed, we were also very reassured by "visit whenever you like, no appointments required" - what an open policy
Reply from Leanne Brunt, Home Manager at Cavendish Court Care HomeThank you for your very kind review Andrea, its lovely to hear this as its important to us that our residents feel at home and are happy here. We know it can be a daunting and difficult time moving into a new environment with new faces but we do our best to make this transition as smooth as possible for all involved. It's been such a pleasure having your brother reside with us. I will be sure to feedback to the staff your wonderful comments. Thank you again for taking time out to leave this review.

My mum lived at Cavendish Court Care Home for over six years. She was cared for admirably and always treated all the staff as her friends. She always said she felt safe and well cared for and enjoyed all the activities provided. Towards the end of her life she became more and more reliant on the staff
for help and support. They delivered their duties with grace and compassion. They always showed respect and true caring.
Reply from Leanne Brunt, Home Manager at Cavendish Court Care HomeThank you for your kind words it really means a lot to us. She was such a wonderful lady, and she was always well presented and loved to wear her beautiful jewellery and all her accessories. So my auntie was struggling with day to day life but wasn't over keen with the thought of going in a care home
However after a lovely visit from the fabulous Rachel whose reassuring conversation made her realise it would be a good opportunity to give it a try
Now moving on my auntie loves it and
doesn't want to leave
Full marks to all the staff for their caring and kindness in understanding everyone
Even when I visit I'm made to feel welcome by one and all
The home is always clean and the food looks great and my auntie has had no complaints
Well done to everyone at Hope Green
Reply from Rachel Harris, Home Manager at Hope Green Care HomeThanks Mfor your kind words. We know how hard it is for anyone with such a huge change in their living environment. Making the transition as smooth as possible is so important. We are working hard on engagement and socialisation which has to be led by the individual, at their own time and pace. I'm so pleased everything is certainly very positive from our perspective and more importantly from yourself and your Aunt. Please continue to keep the communication open, and we are always here to help however we can. Thanks again.

The care home my brother was in before just left him in his room alone and didnt try and socialise him, at Hope Green they bring him down and do there very best to include him and socialise him/
He looks better since hes been in there, eats all his food as he says its nice.
The place is busy, but
all the staff are always never too busy to do anything for him.
Reply from Rachel Harris, Home Manager at Hope Green Care HomeThank you for your review. I'm so pleased your experience is exactly what we hope to hear at Hope Green. My dad moved into Westbourne at the start of September. When we looked round we immediately felt a very caring and home environment. The staff, very welcoming and friendly, with knowledge of dads conditions. They put us at ease straight away. This has continued since dad moved in. It has been a very
emotional time for us and we have felt supported as we navigate this new normal. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We are very grateful for the continuing love and support.

Staff are always very helpfuland friendly and our mother is well attended by the staff.
She appears to be clean and well looked after, especially with hot drinks and biscuits!
Her room is always clean.
My only negative is the huge 12% rise in fees last month, to £6000 a month. I've spoken to the
Financial guy and he was very helpful.
Reply from Rachel Harris, Home Manager at Hope Green Care HomeMany thanks for your kind feedback. We are aware the increase in fees has been difficult for everyone and the anxiety and questions this has raised. We are operating in a difficult financial climate, and I'm happy that the finance team were there to support you. I appreciate your honest feedback and assure you that you are not alone in this as it's affecting the care sector as a whole. Please continue to reach out to us and myself if there is anything we can do to help. Once again, thanks for the feedback, which I will share with all departments.
