Generally very happy with the care my mother receives. The food is not always soft enough for elderly residents and there are issues with her being able to feed herself when in bed and the tray is not positioned so that she can reach her food. When peas etc are served it would be easier to be given
a spoon otherwise they are left on the plate. When put to bed for her afternoon rest I've noticed that frequently there isn't a drink within reach and, as getting her to drink is an issue, this doesn't help improve her fluid intake. My mother does struggle with hearing but she can read so it would help communication if the carers could use a white board or something else when she's just not understanding what is being said to her.

Overall, we feel that our aunt is very well looked after.
The care staff are excellent and our aunt seems as happy as she could be, in her circumstances.
Thank you also to the management team for addressing any points we have raised along the way.

My parents moved to Highfield nearly 8 years ago. They were made extremely welcome from the start. They were able to bring their own furniture and belongings and Highfield has felt like home to them both. After my mother passed away 2 years ago, my father and I have been cared for and supported by the
Highfield family, making our loss more bearable. It takes a very special place to achieve this balance of professional care and heartfelt friendship and support. Aaron and Joy ably lead this exceptional team and their door is always open. The host and carers take time to check in on him with a smile and lots of tea and latte's and he enjoys movies and audio books in the privacy of his own room.
GP support from the doctor and the Surgery, the chiropodist and hairdresser are all also second to none.
My father remains very happy at Highfield and is treated with respect and genuine care every day.
Reply from Aaron Barham, Home Manager at Highfield Private Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We love having your Dad live with us (and your Mum too). All our residents and relatives are special to us and we are so glad to hear you both feel supported and that Dad is happy living with us at Highfield.

My mother has now been at Highfields for nearly 6 months. The level of care and support she receives is excellent. Staff are always able to answer concerns, particularly around eating and my mother's mood. Management have been so empathetic with me over the sad loss of my brother. I feel truly 'held'
in every way at Highfields. Because of that, I can devote and create special memories with my mom and enjoy our time together. Thank you for all you do.
Reply from Aaron Barham, Home Manager at Highfield Private Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. It is a privilege to have your mum live with us, and we are truly grateful for the fun and spirit you (and your husband) bring to the home when you visit. We want everyone to feel welcome and included at Highfield, and that extends to our lovely families, residents friends and loved ones. Thank you for being part of our community.

My Dad is a currently a resident at Highfields and has been since January 2025. He had always said he would never go into a Care Home but after his health declined there was little option and he reluctantly agreed to do so. Although Dad can be, or has been in the past a somewhat difficult character
to deal with, I felt he settled well and reasonably quickly. All the staff at Highfields are so friendly and caring, and even when Dad is being a little difficult about things, including personal care, they know when to leave him and just come back later.
The food offered at meal times is fresh, varied and looks very appetising. There is always a member of staff on hand if I have questions or queries or even ask for a general update on Dad's condition.
The staff not only show care to my Dad and the other residents but also offer support to me at times if I require it as do they other resident's families. Ali in the office is also always happy to help with any administration questions, queries or generally.
Reply from Aaron Barham, Home Manager at Highfield Private Care HomeThank you for taking the time to write a review for us. It is always great to hear the good things our team are doing, and that although your Dad never wanted to live in a care home, we have changed his mind a little bit! We will share the feedback with our team. You know where we are if you need anything. Kind regards.

My sister has been a resident of Highfields for the past 2 years . She is in a wheelchair has learning difficulties and dementia. She is virtually non verbal due to her worsening condition so is unable to articulate how good or bad her care is but knowing her as I do and visiting her on a regular basis
i believe she is well treated by the staff who in my experience are kind and caring despite the challenging conditions they face when working with residents who have advanced dementia. The home itself always appears clean and tidy and communication from the management has improved a lot over the past year.

I must commend the staff of Highfield for the warmth, competence and care shown to my mother-in-law in meeting her increasingly complex needs. We have come to know many of the staff and residents by name and are always made to feel most welcome during our frequent visits. Any concerns are dealt with
quickly and efficiently and there is excellent communication between the home and the local medical practise regarding patient welfare.
We are indeed pleased to have found Highfield to care for our much loved relative.

My father has been in Highfield for nearly a year now. I cannot speak highly enough about the care that he receives and the dedication and professionalism of the staff there. What a wonderful home it is. Everyone is so caring and friendly. All the staff are so caring and warm with the residents. It
is a wonderful place where the needs of the elderly are met and the staff go beyond what can be reasonably expected of them. I find it a really uplifting experience to visit Highfield and my father.
My father is very lucky to be there. And I am very lucky that he is there too!

Mum has been in Highfields Care Home many years and we have consistently had to be on the case of her basic care needs with the management. Care workers are constantly reminded to ensure simple routines and tasks relating to her care are done. They are also asked to let us know if she needs anything
but never do. Whilst a key few are very good, many of them are are often indifferent, fail to introduce themselves or speak to mum when carrying out general care tasks and only do things when reminded to do so or asked to do
If we were not constantly reminding or visiting often, I dread to think how mum would be as she cannot ask or do anything for herself. She is generally cared for, clean and medically monitored but many basic requirements specific to her are often forgotten on a daily basis and we frequently have to raise concerns with the management team.
Reply from Aaron Barham, Home Manager at Highfield Private Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. It is disappointing that you feel some of the team are indifferent. We have had previous discussions, and this has been fed back to our team, and we have made robust changes to our processes as a result. As you know, my door is always open for residents and their relatives, and we will always welcome feedback to ensure we're delivery the best possible care to those living with us.Please do call in to see either myself or the deputy during your next visit if you would like to discuss your feedback further.

Highfield Care home, has been home for my daughter since 27/04/2023. These two years past so quick it is a very friendly home, safe, clean, smells good. All the staff carers, nurses, admin, manager domestic, host are very nice, friendly and caring my daughter is very happy when any of the staff come
to talk to her. They enjoy her smile, laughter and happiness when they talk to her. You feel it is like a home more than an institute, and in a lovely place.

My aunt has been at Highfields for almost three years. The manager and staff are amazing. I live outside the UK and visit a couple of times a year. But I phone in several times each week to catch up with my aunt. The staff are always friendly, helpful and let me know how my aunt is doing. There are
numerous activities for residents. When I visit, the staff never mind what time of day I show up. They are welcoming. I'm always offered a cup of tea (which is appreciated). What is most important to me is 1) my aunt has settled into Highfield and is well looked after and 2) if there are any issues at all (for example she gets a cold) the staff inform me. The team at Highfield schedules time with residents' families, welcomes us to different events and we can even attend activities. Personally, I'm a fan of the yoga/movement classes! Everyone at Highfield is kind, caring and compassionate. I have peace of mind knowing my beloved auntie is well looked after.
Reply from Aaron Barham, Home Manager at Highfield Private Care HomeThank you so much for your review. We always strive to give the best care we can to our residents and their loved ones. It is so nice hear that your aunt has settled at Highfield and that the staff are welcoming and offer you a cup of tea - very important! All our residents are individuals with colourful lives and that shouldn't stop when they come to live in a care home - we appreciate things change but we always want to give our residents a welcoming home to feel safe and where they can explore the things they are interested in.

My partner has been a resident of Highfield for almost 2 years. In this time he has built up a nice relationship with the majority of the staff here. They come across as friendly and approachable, and I feel as though I can approach any of them with any concerns if need be.
In my mind, he is much happier
in himself since coming here, he doesn't leave his room that often which is his decision, but he knows there is always somebody close by if needed. If we sit in reception area there is always a few people that stop for a while and chat, which is lovely. Also if you don't fancy what is on the menu they are more than happy to cook something else for you.

My cousin is a resident of Highfield. I am no expert but the staff appear to be well trained and caring under firm but friendly management by the Manager and Deputy. Medical issues have been attended to promptly with a doctor in attendance when necessary. My cousin and I are satisfied and often impressed
by the care and consideration he is given. In particular, the way in which residents and their families are encouraged to voice their opinions on how the home is run, the activities provided, the food served and anything else they want to say either by themselves or in regular meetings. The management reacts positively to these views and also ensures that any remedial action is well known.

Dad spent the final two years of his life at Highfield Care Home, which was a surprise as he’d always said he never go and live in a care home. But he settled in well, and as it turned out, he actually loved finding a second family among the staff there, always ready to hear about the ups and downs
of each other's lives and to crack a joke when times were tough. They are a great team, and the care Dad got was exceptional.
Dad sadly passed away at the home, but he did so peacefully and in comfort. We can't thank the home enough for all they did for him. Including actually improving his quality of life by sorting out long-standing problems like leg ulcers and getting his cataract done, as much as being there for him as his health declined. The attentiveness and kindness he received were a revelation to us, just as much as it was to my dad.
