Brunel House is a warm, friendly care home. After looking around several, the feel of the home made us choose it for our mother.
Staff are all very warm & welcoming, it has been a smooth transition for our mother.

My mother as been in princess lodge since feb and my mum has recently passed away. The care she was given in her last days of life was absolutely outstanding and i can never thank you enough for the care and support you gave my mother and myself and family.
Everyone was so professional, caring and
supportive in the last stages of her life. All staff was amazing but i need to just gave a extra special thanks to nurse Marjorie, and carer aakansha who was so special and her bedside maner was beautiful. They had a little special bond. This is something i will never forgot. Also unfortunately im unsure of her name but she cared for mum the last 2 night shift of her life, she also was amazing.
Racheal the receptionist is so much more than a receptionist she made sure we was well looked after and supported us as a family with all her heart, and stayed with us untill the end. I will be for ever thankful to all of you.
Reply from Emanuel Olari, Home Manager at Princess Lodge Care CentreThank you for taking the time to write this lovely review of Princess Lodge, especially at such a difficult time for your family.

Having arrive at Brunel Care Home as a patient, I was so impressed with the care and atmosphere that I decided - being 98 that this is where I want to be and became a resident.
It was a good decision. My family have all been and are very happy with what they see, and are so pleased that I am well looked
after.
There are activities to join in if you wish, a cinema and a large lounge and a garden to enjoy. Also a "CAFE" where we can entertain our visitors. The staff are all friendly and so helpful. Brunel has given me a home and more.
Reply from Lisa Bendle, Deputy Home Manager at Brunel HouseThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. We are incredibly grateful to receive such kind praise - it truly means a great deal to the whole team.
It is a real pleasure for us to care for you, and your kind words are very much appreciated by everyone here.

On my mother-in-law being moved to Princess Lodge. She has settled in and we have found the staff very helpful. She is at the moment kept in her bed, but the staff check on her regularly. She is very happy where she is. The atmosphere in the home is very welcoming and cheerful. All your questions are
answered. Glad that we decided to send her here, have not regretted it.

The care for my mother, who was dying, was faultless. The care staff and nurses did everything and more, to ensure mum was comfortable and felt cared for and loved. The care staff also provided care to us as family at this very stressful time. They kept us informed, sat with mum when we were away and
gave us love and support.

I was honoured to visit Brunel recently and attend a small celebration and I am happy to say all my previous misconceptions on what a care home should be were completely thrown away the second I walked in.
The reception was clean and both staff on desks were incredibly welcoming and polite. It was
clean and pleasant, bright, and the atmosphere was positive from the get go.
Walking through the corridor you could see all the posters and programmes for the week and upcoming events, the lifestyle team clearly go above and beyond in organising activities catered to the residents.
I was fortunate enough to meet the dementia ambassador who gave me an insight into how those living with a cognitive impairment recognise the world around them, and I was even more fortunate to sit with some residents and get to know them and their life stories.
Everyone at the home was an absolute pleasure to speak to, if I had to put a relative into care i would 100% choose Brunel

Mum had been reluctant to move into a care home, but after a couple of falls, made her decision to move into Brunel House. From the very start, she settled in and enjoyed the wonderful friendly staff team. Mum likened the standards to a hotel.
She really enjoyed the entertainments and the creative
classes laid on, also the Christmas Carol service. Mum frequently reported back that the food was delicious, especially the puddings!
Thank you all, for the genuine love & care given to my lovely Mum, you are a great team.

Mum arrived at Brunel House in Nov 2024 with some trepidation, however, the staff were absolutely wonderful & she soon settled in. Mum said on many occasions how happy & content she was & that she had made the right decision to move in. Mum loved chatting to the staff & fellow residents, taking part
in activities and being included in what was going on.
Mum, myself & my sister were given peace of mind knowing Mum was safe, loved and cared for.

My Mum has been a resident at Princess Lodge for the last 9 months. I visit her on a regular basis, the staff across all functions; Administration, Reception, Management, Carers, Nursing, Domestic (Catering) have always been sensitive, supportive and professional in managing Mum's complex care needs.
She is treated with respect, and dignity. Myself and my brother have always been contacted proactively if any areas of concern have been identified. Regular cleaning protocols both inside her room but also communal areas such as the corridors, kitchen and dining areas are evident. There is a full programme of activities available but given Mum's declining health and cognitive skills her participation in these activities have decreased but I know she has 1:1 activity engagement in her room which is appreciated. On value for money I have answered 'don't know' because we have no benchmark. All other areas are scored Excellent because I cannot think of any areas for improvement.
Reply from Emanuel Olari, Home Manager at Princess Lodge Care CentreThank you for taking the time to write this lovely review of Princess Lodge. The team work hard to make sure the people that live with us feel comfortable and supported with their care needs. As your Mum's care needs have changed, we have made sure she still gets the engagement she wants with more personal activities.

My mum has been at Princess Lodge Care Centre almost five years now. She has Alzheimer's. In her previous situation she was sad and unmotivated after the loss of her husband who she misses so very much. After moving to Princess Lodge and settling in, we noticed a marked improvement in her mood, and
her general state of interest in daily activities. She is content now. We have been impressed with the level of care she receives, for her mental & physical health and general wellbeing. Her room is kept clean and tidy. The staff encourage her to be involved in the social activities, they are kind and friendly, and everyone is always positive. In addition, the staff have gone above and beyond to enable my sister and myself to communicate with mum from the USA using video conferencing. We each have an arrangement to chat once a week, and the staff set mum up in front of a computer, it's easy and it has been so lovely to see her now that she cannot manage her phone anymore :)
