My friend received the best possible care at Astor Court. He was treated with respect and compassion, warmth and kindness at all times, by all members of staff, whether they were nurses, auxiliaries, managers or cleaners.
Not only was he given the best of care, but also all the staff were a huge support
to his relatives and friends, particularly during the last week of his life.
I am sure that if he had been able, he would have liked to thank everyone who so caringly looked after him at Astor Court.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Astor CourtThank you for sharing such a heartfelt tribute. Were truly grateful for your kind words and are honoured to have supported your friend and his loved ones with compassion and dignity.

I have nothing but excellent praise for every member of staff that I have come into contact with, as well as the NHS staff (physios), which is why I was home following a broken hip for a total of 7 days. The very minute I arrived, and the welcome I received made me feel much better. All the staff are
well trained and very professional. It has been an absolute pleasure to meet them.

Really comfortable accommodation. Lovely relaxed atmosphere.
Every single member of staff was polite, friendly and very helpful. The support from physios and OTs was excellent. The transfer home was quick and straight forward and the assistance/support put in place has been exceptionally organised
and we're very grateful.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Astor Lodge ViewThank you for taking time to share your thoughts, they are much appreciated & we are happy you found our partnership working with NHS was to a high standard. We continue to strive to support each individual on their journey of recovery.

Excellent care throughout stay. All the staff were compassionate and were very supportive at a difficult time. The rooms were nice and big the only complaint would be that there was no where for visitors to sit. They were great at adapting nutritional needs. Great communication from everyone, carers,
nurses and gp (who was exceptional)

First class accommodation and care. Relaxed atmosphere.
Meals could be improved, and 16:15 is far too early for evening meal!
Physio promised, but it only happened once or twice.
Overall - very grateful, impressed.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Astor Lodge ViewThank you so much for taking the time to share this feedback. I will be speaking with our catering team regarding the quality of meals, as well as exploring the option of offering a later evening meal or adjusting to a more substantial lunch with a lighter option in the evening. I would welcome your thoughts on this.

I will also pass your comments on to our NHS partners regarding physiotherapy support. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention.

The care my dad received at Astor Court was outstanding. I have never encountered such a caring and wonderful team of people. Nothing was too much trouble. Dad was only at Astor Court for about a month at the end of his life, and I am so pleased that we found this wonderful home for Dad's final days.
The staff were so supportive of my family and gave my dad exceptional care and treated him with dignity, respect and such kindness. I can never thank the staff enough.

Mum was moved here from the hospital. The staff have been amazing. Very friendly, polite, helpful and courteous. Mum has had zero complaints about her time here. The facilities are clean, always smell nice. Overall, this is a really well-managed facility, this level fo service does not happen by chance
it requires good leadership. Well done all.

My father was admitted for rehabilitation following a fall & being in Hospital.
When he arrived the room was cold and initially the door couldn't be propped open.
He had a friendly welcome, but we were not given information about the need to bring extra clothing, despite seeing what clothes had been
brought in and my father having a catheter.
There was an occasion where I had to phone & leave a message for the Dr (who was in the ward meeting) to urgently see my father, because his catheter was blocked & he was in pain. My father's bladder went into spasm & he ended up on tablets for this, following this incident!
The nurses and carers were efficient, kind and caring, but my father did have to speak to one of the carers and ask her to stop shouting at him.
The Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists were excellent.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Astor Lodge ViewWe thank you for your feedback and we apologise that you experienced your room was cold on admission. I will ask staff to check before admissions arrive that rooms are warm, there are leaflets available at each entry to give guidance information about the centre, what to expect & what people may need with them.
The NHS staff have been approached to give out our leaflets on wards, so people are informed before making the decision to come to Astor.
We apologise that you have experienced a member of the team shouting, I would like to reach out to you in order to address this and other concerns. Your compliment to therapy & care staff is much appreciated & will be shared throughout the team.

My sister was admitted for rehab care following a leg fracture.
The facility is unsuited to this. It was hard (sometimes impossible) for the OT/Physio to find equipment. There was no physical space to do things. The staff were exhausted and under pressure.
The care home staffing was diabolical -
waits for toilets/dressing were unacceptable.
The food was very poor. No vegetarian catering at all. No nutritional value.
Individual staff members were caring and thoughtful - the facility is grossly understaffed.

I was resident at Astor Lodge for just over 2 weeks, being discharged on Saturday, 13th September. The physiotherapist and occupational therapist were very good.
Some night staff were very good, but some left something to be desired. I saw a doctor only once during my stay and would have appreciated
a little more contact. Carers - some good, some inexperienced. Nurses were good when I had contact with them.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Astor Lodge ViewThank you for your feedback, it is appreciated to develop our service to be the best it can be, we are planning further training with support from therapists for care staff to improve their knowledge & skills, the doctor takes information from nurses & therapists, I will discuss the contact they have with residents to enable them to reflect on how best to support in the future.

Having spent eight weeks in hospital having been unwell after. The offer was made to have a short 'recuperative' stay at Astor Lodge, which sounded the perfect tonic on my route to recovery. Astor Lodge provided first class in every respect as shown in the ratings. A credit to the NHS.

Having been unexpectedly admitted to hospital, and then discharged in intermediate care, I found my room comfortable, food acceptable and overall care welcome and acceptable if a little overbearing for understandable reasons. The en-suite bathroom was, however, out of order.

My mum has been at Astor court for over a year now.
The most positive thing about astor court is the care staff, the majority are caring, kind, thoughtful and always go the extra mile. The most negative would be that there is no safe outside space for dementia patients, there is space that could
be utilised but it isn't safe and and it's such a shame it can't be used for fresh air and vitamin D, some activities outside would be lovely. We know its very important to dementia patients, my mum has trouble sleeping and more natural sunlight I feel would benefit this.
Reply from Kim Richardson, Home Manager at Astor CourtThank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate your thoughts and are happy to hear that our care meets your expectations, we will pass this on to the team as they will appreciate this. In regards to the garden, we are currently looking into this as we would like to create a welcoming outdoor area for the people living with us."
