When my mum came to Birch Heath Lodge, it was a very difficult decision for our family, as it often is when a loved one moves into care. However, throughout the years that mum lived there, we saw just how settled and happy she became. She truly loved the staff who cared for her and the home itself.
It is hard to fully express how much the care, love, dignity and attention she received meant to us. My mum herself had been a matron caring for the elderly, and myself a clinical nurse for 32 years, I feel I can honestly say the standard of care she received was exceptional.
Everyone was always so friendly, caring and kind -not only to mum, but also to us as a family, especially on the more difficult days when visiting could be emotional. The home always had such a warm, welcoming atmosphere, with many staff having worked there for years, which says a great deal in itself.

Never once did I feel worried or upset about leaving my mum in their care, and for that we will always be truly grateful.

Our mum moved into Birch Heath in October 2025 due to dementia and a stroke. Her room was so lovely and light, looking out on the garden, and the staff were so helpful in making it her own.
Mum really enjoyed the food and activities, and loved the friendly and caring staff, who really looked after her and made her comfortable.

We really can't thank the staff enough for their kindness and care and for being there for us all.

The rooms are very well presented and the home is very clean and welcoming. The food is tasty. Plenty of activities to do including trips out every other month. My mother arrived at Birch Heath in 2017 following a serious operation that caused her dementia to worsen dramatically. Whilst the dementia did recover somewhat for a period of time, it then declined year on year. Her ability to get out of bed, never easy after the operation, was lost altogether nearly 3 years ago. At the start of October 2025 she entered "End of Life" before passing away peacefully on 9 October.
The management, the nurses, the carers and staff have all been loving and caring towards our mother, always helping and attending to her needs. The nursing care was exemplary, mum not even suffering one bedsore in the whole eight years. Many times on visiting mum I arrived to see a carer sitting with mum just chatting and making her day more interesting. Some of the carers formed strong friendships with mum, evident with her passing and the tears shed.

All I can say is a huge thank you to everyone at Birch Heath.

We could not have hoped for a more caring and comfortable place for our dear mum to spend her final weeks of life. Having come to Birch Heath Lodge with considerable care needs, after two months in hospital, Mum often commented on the welcoming nature and patience of all the staff. We all appreciated this level of genuine thoughtfulness and professionalism, especially during our final week with Mum when every accommodation was made to make this difficult time much easier and peaceful.

We are happy mum is in your care, however when we call on mum she is in a wheelchair, not a room chair. We see a lot of different staff, you must have a turn over of people. Also mum does have a good selection of clothes, but seems to be in old clothes and she quite recently has her tea or coffee spilt down her top. Apart from these minor issues, we are happy with the care you give her.

The care my cousin got in Birch Heath Lodge in the final weeks of her life was excellent. The receptionist was always very helpful. The assistant manager kept us updated on her condition. It never seemed any trouble for them to go out of their way to talk to us. One of the nurses was very kind to her as she wasn't one of the easiest people to deal with.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to all the management and staff that looked after my mother, who resided at Birch Health Lodge from 2020 to her passing in January 2023. Without the superb care and love given, I doubt my mother would have lived to the grand old age of 89. I know she was very popular with both staff and residents, who will miss her greatly as well as myself. Thank you once again, and take care! God Bless you all!

My mum stayed at Birch Heath for seven years until she died in March 2022. She was always looked after with consideration and respect, particularly in the last six months of her life when she was poorly. Having visited Mum about three times a week for seven years (apart from lockdown), I got to know many of the staff who were like family to me and Mum. Thanks.

My 93 year old father was moved to the home for respite care after as fall at home hospitalised him for about six weeks, during which time he contracted Covid twice.

Je was very frail and confused on arriving at Birch Heath Lodge, but the friendly, caring and professional staff saw to all his needs and their service saved my sister and myself from stress and worry. They were with him when he died, thank you all.

Birch Heath Lodge was everything I had hoped to find in a nursing home for my Mum. I wasn’t interested in an ‘all singing/all dancing, mod cons’ home; what I was wanting was to know my Mum was safe, that she was cared for, that she was respected and that she felt happy and that she felt she mattered. From day 1 this is exactly how it was. Every single member of staff was cheerful, was welcoming, chatted to Mum and shared humour bringing a smile to her face. My Mum was blind and deaf but she felt included at all times and shared with me the giggles she had enjoyed with the staff. The home is spotlessly clean, no smell of urine. It is bright and Mum’s sheets and clothing always immaculate. Sadly my Mum passed away here. In the weeks before the staff were AMAZING, not only with Mum but looking after me too. If you are looking for a dedicated team of staff who genuinely care; this is the home you have been looking for. Thank you to all the staff, I’ll never forget your kindness.

My wife slipped away peacefully after almost five years in Birch Heath Lodge. To describe the care that my wife received as outstanding does not really do justice to the level of care that she received. The staff are unbelievably caring in all that they do and after a series of management changes, the home is capably managed by the new manager. Birch Heath is a gem in the nursing home world.

The manager and her team at Birch Heath Lodge are the reason for my Dad's recovery. It's as simple as that. At the age of 88, my Dad had been in and out of hospital for the last five months. After his second and final visit to hospital (fantastic medical teams), the hospital discharged him to Birch Heath. For me, this was a blessing as he recovered physically and, most importantly, emotionally as he was struggling with the trauma.

My Dad had his own room, which was spotlessly clean and 24/7 highly professional and qualified staff. I want to give a special shout-out to the carer who looked after him the most. She is a mixture of pure professionalism and genuine compassion, and who cares about both the mental and physical wellbeing. She raised my Dad's spirits with a genuine compassion and he is now able to return home. If he needs to return to a care home full-time, I will immediately call the manager. Care homes come with a worrying pre-conception. Birch Heath changes that. A+

I visited my grandmother and was delighted with the care she was receiving. The home itself was very clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. My grandmother said that they really looked after her. I also met the manager briefly whilst visiting and she was also helpful and friendly. A lovely home that is very well run, thank you to all the staff.
