Birch Heath Lodge has a lovely feel about it as you arrive. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They are wonderful with my mum which gives one family a lot of peace of mind. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Birch Heath.

Birch Heath Lodge has become home from home to my mother. The care, nursing and nutritional and welfare are taken very seriously ensuring we as a family have peace of mind. Without exception, each member of staff do a very professional job, their love and care shown every day are everything we hoped
for from a nursing home.
When a parent leaves their home, it is a devastating blow to so many, but when we have a nursing facility like Birch Heath Lodge it really does provide an ongoing quality of life for everyone concerned.

Very good overall standard of care for my mother who is still able to get about but has memory issues which prevent her from looking after herself at home.

Lovely caring place where my father was looked after during his illness and the last days of his life. Staff are the biggest strength of this home they took him to their hearts and became like another family to him. Also supported ourselves brilliantly during those last difficult days - we were extremely
grateful to them all.

My father has been in the home for 1 year now and is very settled. The staff and management have been very supportive and caring, often going 'the extra mile' to sort issues out and ensure that my father is well looked after.
He enjoys the food and activities and very much likes the staff who look
after him.
I know that he feels that he is looked after as an individual and is treated with respect and dignity.
His room is comfortable and warm, which he really appreciates.

The Birch Heath Lodge is more like a hotel than the usual home and is one of the best we have been in. The people at the home are quick to address any requirements needed by our relative either physically or mentally.

My mother-in-law has been resident for the past two and a half years. As a very regular visitor during this time, I have never failed to be impressed with Birch Heath Lodge. The care home is always spotlessly clean and immediately presents a calm and highly organised atmosphere. Carers, nursing staff,
admin and management are invariably aware of residents condition and wellbeing. Consistent high-quality food and drinks is clearly well received and beneficial to residents. All our close relatives visit regularly and are made to feel "part of the family". Highly recommended.

My mother is challenging. The staff are very caring and helpful. The staff try hard to get my mother to mix and get involved. A 90th Birthday party was set up for mum by the management and staff, it was great. I tried to pay but they wouldn't take a penny. We as a family are very happy with mums care
at Birch Heath Lodge.

My mother has been a resident at Birch Heath Lodge since January 2015. Mum is very happy at Birch Heath Lodge i find the manager and staff very approachable and friendly. I feel that if i have concerns over mum they are all happy to listen to what i have to say and try their best to solve any concern/worries
which i may have. I would highly recommend Birch Heath Lodge to anyone considering residential care, the place is exceptionally clean, does not smell and a pleasure to visit at all times.

Birch Heath provides an excellent service in caring for my mum. She enjoys the food and all the attention she receives from the staff. The atmosphere is happy and caring. The village location means the walks to village pond, shop, pubs and churches make life more interesting.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.239)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.239) out of 10 for Birch Heath Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.594 for Birch Heath Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (9 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 32 Ratings = 4.594
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.645 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Birch Heath Lodge is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.395
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
