Willow Bank Nursing Home is a large 1950’s purpose-built care home situated in the popular Leeds suburb of Cross Gates, just off junction 46 of the M1 providing residential, nursing and respite care for 33 residents. The communal areas in the home have been refurbished in May 2021 and all bedrooms come with furniture provided but they do welcome any furniture you want to bring to the home to make your stay at Willow Bank more comfortable.

The home is located over two floors and the ground floor accommodates 12 en-suite bedrooms, a spacious lounge, dining room and quiet lounge with access to the gardens and patio. The first floor holds the remaining 21 bedrooms and hairdressing room and is accessible by lift or stairs.

The home is close to local amenities including shops, library, doctors surgery, pharmacy, public house and hairdressers which are within walking distance. The home has 14 car parking spaces for visitors driving to the home and the number 40 bus stop is close to the home for visitors arriving by public transport.

Willow Bank offers an excellent dining experience for those living at the home and has a 5-star food hygiene rating. They believe that food is an important aspect of any home and they offer a choice of breakfast, lunch, evening meal and snacks throughout the day.

There are various activities planned each day at Willow Bank including a regular cheese and wine evening which is always popular with the residents, 1-1 time, entertainers as well as home-based activities. Wi-Fi is available throughout the home for residents who want to enjoy spending time hosting zoom calls with family and friends.

My dad was here for 2 weeks respite, 4th-8th August. The initial home visit by the manager went ok. 5 times we had to keep reminding the staff to put denture adhesive in Dad's teeth. The toilet was in a bad state 6 times during Dad's stay. Poo left on wall for over 1x week, stale urine on the toilet
floor. Very poor cleaning. Disappointed.

Although some initial hiccups with meds and room setup, all sorted and on task.
All staff pleasant and accommodating.
Thank you for your patience with my father and hope you can get him involved in more next time. He can be stubborn but needs to sometimes be led rather than just accept his refusal

My dad stayed for 2 weeks respite for the first time in Willow Bank. I was impressed with the pre-planning of this event with viewing around Willow Bank, a home assessment visit to ensure safe care with attention to detail. Also various emails were answered promptly from the office. During the stay
every phone call recieved by nursing staff were polite, informative and followed protocol appropriately. The staff were approachable and caring. The lady who organises the activities tried to encourage dad to join the activities. Some were outside with the nice weather. They provided dad with a made up table to do his jigzaw. These small touches made it a caring and homely environment. Dad was cared for appropriately by the wonderful staff. The room was spacious and clean. The food offered was good variety for dads requirements/choices. Dad had a far better experience in this respite care home. As a family we are in no doubt dad will be back for his next respite stay at Willow Bank.

My dad had been a resident for four years and had received excellent care over this time. He loved the food! The staff were kind, caring and attentive. Sadly he died at Christmas. He was treated with such care, and we, his family, were treated with such sensitivity and kindness. We will always be grateful
to the wonderful staff that work here.

My aged aunt was moved into Willow Bank in September this year, she was struggling to cope at home (living by herself at 93 years of age. As far as I can see she is receiving excellent care and attention. The staff really seem to enjoy their work and always have a smile. My main contact has been with
a staff member in the office who projects the whole ethos of the home (happy, caring and finds time for everyone). I can't comment on value for money (she is being funded by the NHS).

Don't really do reviews but after spending every day for the last 3 weeks visiting both parents, I need to tell anyone who reads this that Willie Bank has exceeded my expectations. They are great, helpful empathetic and understanding to their needs. Food is fab, real good variety. Carers work extremely
hard but still greet with a smile. One staff member in particular in the office is so helpful, it's very reassuring knowing you've got someone around who knows all the ins and outs. The nurses are professional and knowledgeable and understand complex needs. So happy I found this place. Compared to others it was a great find.

My mother-in-law was moved from the hospital to Willow Bank and diagnosed with terminal cancer (already diagnosed with dementia).
The room we chose was light and airy, she was given a pressure mattress as she had pressure sores from her hospital stay. She was very comfortable and happy during the
short time she lived there. The care she was given was the best we could have asked for. Always someone to answer any questions we had about her care and her deteriorating health. We like that there was always a registered nurse available and that a GP visited weekly. We would highly recommend Willow Bank.

For over 12 months Willow Bank have looked after my brother who had suffered a massive stroke. Sadly he has now passed. The standard of care given to him was excellent. The staff are so friendly, especially the staff member on the front desk. I cannot thank the home and the staff enough for everything

Overall I was well looked after and cared for with kind and caring staff. I was worried about my short stay but came away saying I would like to stay again. My daughter said that she was pleased with how the staff have been overwhelmingly accommodating to me.

Since new management, my mother has been well looked after. Very happy with her room. We like how she is dressed on every visiting day. We looked at several homes, but we found Willow Bank was the most homely.

I was frustrated with the care of my father over the last couple of years that was not always good with the last management. However the new manager is professional, approachable, treats me and my resident father with respect, genuinely cares for people and since his appointment there has been a big
improvement at Willow Bank in all areas and the home seems to be on the up. I would also like to thank the assistant manager and the staff that do their best. I hope other staff will jump on board.

The home has improved over the last six months. The current manager has worked hard to address issues of access to buzzers for the residents, staff training and general improvement in the daily running of the home. There has been an increase in the staff who arrange activities for the residents. There
is now a much more positive atmosphere within the home. I am a retired social worker/manager, I am pleased with the improvements made. I visit my husband every day and am therefore aware of what happens within the home.

Upon arriving at the home all the staff are very welcoming, especially on arrival when signing in. If I need anything for my dad all staff are very helpful. Dad's room is always clean and everything he needs is at hand. I love the way Dad has a door outside so we can put plant pots outside, which he

My mum had to go into a nursing home after my Dad passed away, and I was unable to care for my mum on my own. I went to visit this care home and it was so welcoming and decorated lovely. The staff were lovely, so friendly and informative and the care assistants were so friendly and upbeat. The nurses
were lovely, the manager was great and mum settled in well, but sometimes could be difficult. But the staff always cheered her up and kept her spirits up. When my mum became really poorly and passed away, I was with her. The manager and nurse who were there were so compassionate and caring and guided me through it every step of the way. Thank you so much.

All the staff there couldn't do enough, they welcomed her and us. She was there for respite, her room was perfect for her with her own toilet and TV, she was delighted. When we went to see her, a flow test was done and sanitised. They gave us tea and coffee, they were great. She was happy there but
still couldn't wait to get back home to her husband. It was just what she needed.
