Reviews

9.3 Wyndham Hall Care Home has a Review Score of 9.3 (9.343)

The Review Score of 9.3 (maximum of 10) for Wyndham Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 16 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Wyndham Hall Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.676 for Wyndham Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (35 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 185 Ratings = 4.676

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.667 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wyndham Hall Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 12 positive Reviews (60 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 8 Reviews ÷ 12 Target = 0.667

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My mother was admitted in March 2017 and lived at the home up to her death in September 2017. In the months she was in residence she was treated with respect and dignity at all times. She developed a lovely rapport with her carers. As the end approached, the staff were lovely. The two nurses on duty when she died were wonderful both to Mum and me.

My brother was admitted to Wyndham Hall because he was very ill and could not cope on his own at home. Sadly, he only stayed in the home 18 days. I live in France and his nearest relative. Wyndham Hall provided the home he needed. All the staff took care of him, spent time with him, chatted with him and did their very best, always looking for something which would help him over the short time before he died. We were all welcome at any time and the many (very many) visits were not resented by the staff.

Our family were very pleased with the care our dad received at Wyndham Hall Care Home for a week's respite. The staff were wonderful at helping him settle in and encouraging him to join in the activities.

Our family members were made very welcome whenever we visited and it was a positive experience all round. Huge thanks to the management and all the staff.

We have had to make the difficult decision to place both my Mother-in-law & her sister in a residential home. I am so very pleased to be able to say that Wyndham Hall is perfect for them.
The manager and her team have been very supportive with our feelings and the needs of both ladies. The staff are friendly, the individual rooms are large and airy and the food is good. Residents and families have access to various lounge areas, which is a lovely bonus.
Seeing both of them enjoying a sing-along yesterday and the way the staff celebrated our Aunt's birthday was fabulous.
I looked at various homes before choosing this one and can now say that we know now that we have made the right decision and can now relax in the knowledge that they are both safe and happy.
Well done to the manager and all at Wyndham Hall!

My brother has been in Wyndham Hall since January 2016 and his quality of care has been excellent.
Nothing is too much trouble for the staff and now he is totally bedridden the staff cannot do enough for him.
I would not hesitate to recommend Wyndham Hall to anyone.

Many thanks for an amazing review, we are very happy that your experience at Wyndham Hall is such a positive one.

My relative has been in Wyndham for nearly a year. When we arrived there was a lovely atmosphere, warm and friendly. As the months have gone on the staff have changed and with more residents, the staff have less time for each resident making it short staffed. The atmosphere has changed, the staff are too busy to spend time with residents and residents spend more time in their rooms doing nothing but watching TV. There was an excellent activity coordinator for a few months who left suddenly and now there are no activities and the "buzz" that greeted you in Wyndham has gone. Would I put my relative there now? I would certainly explore other options.

Terry Allen, Marketing at Wyndham Hall Care Home responded to this review on 24 Mar 2017:

Our staffing levels are at the correct level for the number of residents living with us, the staff always have ample time to interact with the residents on a daily basis, unfortunately we did lose our activities co-ordinator, however the position has now been filled and we will be back to twice daily activities in the home.

We were lucky to be able to use Wyndham Hall for a week's respite care for our elderly father, enabling us to enjoy a family Christmas together, secure in the knowledge that he would be safe and well cared for as he is diabetic, has mild dementia and mobility issues. We were very impressed with the professionalism and approachability of all the staff we met. Thank you.

My mother had lived in a flat and was cared for me for some weeks at a time, until this summer when she became ill. At Wyndham Hall Care Home the care there enabled her to recover and improve to the point at which she walks with only a stick from having a wheelchair most of the time. Creative ideas to help mum have been used, such as a pressure mat by her bed as she does not call for help and can fall at night. An activities coordinator is an asset to the mental health of the community, her craft sessions are well attended and mum is able to give her knowledge of crafts to others.

My brother went to Wyndham Hall for palliative care. Having looked at a number of care homes. I could not have chosen a better one. The home itself is absolutely beautiful, but more importantly, the care was outstanding. Every member of staff was wonderful, professional at all times and showed great care, compassion and gave my brother dignity and respect at a very difficult time. They were also so very kind and thoughtful to all members of our family. I cannot thank them enough.

My husband has a good day, but a few things would have made it easier. No riser/reclining chair, instead we had to take our own, not very convenient for a two-week stay. Bio bidet for personal comfort and dignity. Shaped cutlery for easy eating, also my husband needs straws for every drink and I noticed they weren't always offered - even though I provided special wide ones ie soup in a bowl with a spoon, instead of a cup/mug with a wide spout.
Very simple things which could so easily be corrected. Lovely bathrooms/wet rooms but staff need to be provided with shoe covers.

This is the fourth care home my mother has been in and by far the best. The home itself is clean and well equipped, very efficiently run and all the staff are kind and caring, nothing is too much trouble. The food is lovely and the events they have at Christmas Easter etc are a pleasure to go to.
Most importantly of all the main focus is on the residents comfort and needs.
I would highly recommend Wyndham Hall, it's such a relief to know my mother is being well looked after.

My father moved into Wyndham Hall Care Home on the 21st of September 2015, having received his first experience of care homes some 6 weeks earlier in another local facility. He arrived underweight, very morose, unhappy and with the onset of depression.
Since he arrived at Wyndham Hall he has gained about 4kgs. His whole mood has lifted, he's happy, smiling, laughing, joking and beginning to enjoy life again.
At Wyndham Hall the staff are attentive, patient and most of all, understanding. The diet is centred around the needs of the individual, taking into account their likes and dislikes. The daily activities are set at the right level for the residents. The care manager continually puts herself out to make sure you as a family are happy with the way the home is looking after the resident.
The atmosphere within the home is upbeat, happy, nothing appears to be too much trouble, especially when it comes to the care of the resident. The family all agree the general atmosphere and surroundings are more like a hotel, you could easily forget you're in a care facility.
It's a pleasure to visit, more importantly, when I go on holiday, I know dad is in a safe environment. I fully recommend Wyndham Hall Care Home as a place to stay be it nursing, residential or respite care, it's your choice.
