Born in Singapore to a UK Forces family, Debbie is a Unit Manager specialising in the care of residents living with dementia.
She has a great deal of experience in care homes, having previously worked in other homes locally, and particularly enjoys supporting residents to live their best lives, enabling them to be as independent as possible for as long as possible.
Outside of work, Debbie loves going to music events, often travelling all over the UK. She is also a bit of a whizz with Lego, particularly large models.
Zak joined Kings Manor as a carer, having been made redundant from his retail role during Covid. He has quickly progressed in his career, becoming a Senior Carer and now Unit Manager.
His day is mainly spent on care plans and ensuring the people that live with us are fit and well, but he says the best part of his day is when he can banter with a resident or colleague. His laughter is infectious, and you can't help but laugh with him.
Outside of work, Zak enjoys spending time with his family and going on day trips together into the glorious Devon countryside.
Emma started at Kings Manor as a Carer, and progressed her career to Senior Carer before finding her niche as a Dementia Ambassador. Her role is to train colleagues on new and existing techniques, keeping the team's skill set up-to-date with dementia care.
She loves the fact that every day is different in the home, and she particularly enjoys making a difference in the lives of the residents. Her approach is to treat everyone as an individual, and she is passionate about being the voice of the resident when they are unable to communicate themselves.
Outside of work, Emma loves going on walks with her dogs, which certainly keeps her fit. She also enjoys going on nice holidays when she can.
Lynda brought a wealth of experience to her role when she joined Kings Manor, having previously worked in Administration in the motor trade and in healthcare.
She says that every day is different in a care home, and the best part of her role is interacting with the families and loved ones of the people that live with us. She enjoys being part of a team that shows respect to everyone, whether they are colleagues, residents or families.
Outside of work, Lynda enjoys going to the gym and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Aishia is the friendly face welcoming visitors to Kings Manor, and makes sure everyone is taken care of, either escorting them to a resident's room or making sure they have a nice coffee.
She has previously worked in the home as a Carer, a Lifestyle Co-ordinator (which she loved), and is now our valued Receptionist. She says that she loves the family feel of Kings Manor, and finding out the life stories of the people that live with us from their families.
Outside of work, Aishia enjoys spending time with her husband, who also works at Kings Manor, and her family, and also socialising with friends in the beautiful countryside.
Cheryl is a ball of energy and is part of the Lifestyle team at Kings Manor. Her warmth and enthusiasm come from experience in customer-facing roles, including managing a Dog Kennel in Exeter before she joined the home.
She says the best part of her job is the time she spends with the people who live with us, putting a smile on their faces and making them feel part of the wider Kings Manor family.
Outside of work, Cheryl loves spending time with her grandchildren and having breaks away in her caravan.
'I love eating food just as much as I love cooking it! I grew up in a small village just outside Bristol and graduated from Brunel Catering College in 1994. I have worked in catering for many years and I am extremely excited to be moving on to a new chapter as Head Chef of Kings Manor and looking forward to bringing care home food to the modern era. In my spare time, I enjoy taking my dogs for long walks along the beach.'
