The care home staff do their best to meet the needs of residents. They listen to complaints and try to improve their practice where possible. Retention of staff is problematic. Staff are generally cheerful and friendly. Management and administration are approachable and receptive.
Reply from Jenny Karimlar, Home Manager at Glennie House Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're pleased to hear that you've found our team to be cheerful, friendly, and genuinely committed to meeting the needs of our residents. Listening to concerns and continuously improving our practice is very important to us, and we're glad this has been reflected in your experience.
We also appreciate your honest comments regarding staff retention. This is an area we take seriously, and we continue to work hard to support, develop, and retain our staff so that we can provide consistent, high-quality care.
Thank you again for your thoughtful review and for recognising the efforts of both our care and management teams.

Since my sister came into this care home I have found it to be a very caring home. All the the staff are very pleasant and caring towards all who live in it. The domestic staff are really second to none and keep the nursing home very clean and all the staff are wonderful in making sure everyone has
a chance to voice their oppinion on there meals. If they don't like something they will change the menu. What more can you ask for a nursing home.

Mum was only in the care home for a few months before passing away. All of the staff are excellent and kept us advised of Mum's condition on an ongoing basis.
The nurses were very professional and showed a lot of empathy at a very difficult time and made our family feel at ease.

My dad had the best care at Glennie House. Every member of staff showed him care, compassion, and love and nothing was ever too much trouble. The dignity that my dad was given when he passed was so kind. The care that all my dad's family was given will never be forgotten. I will always be grateful to
everyone at Glennie for making my dad happy.

My dad spent two weeks at Glennie House for respite care. As a family, we had no idea how to approach or organise anything concerning care homes but the staff at Glennie House were just so helpful and friendly. My dad's stay was comfortable and he enjoyed the company of the staff and the food! The respite
care provided the 24-hour care that Dad needed at that time. Nothing is too much trouble at Glennie House and the minute we walked through the door we felt welcome and relaxed. A very positive experience. Thank you.

There wouldn't be enough space here to write everything I would want to tell you about Glennie House in Auchinleck.
It was such a hard process having to put my mum into care but there came a point when it was just not possible for her to remain at home. The manager and all her staff tried so hard to
make this easier for us. Mum sadly passed in June after a 4-day period where she was at end of life. Myself and other family members stayed round the clock until the end. The care and love that we all felt at that point from everyone in Glennie was just unbelievable. Looking after us as well as my mum in such a compassionate way. Sitting beside my mum in the early hours of the morning listening to the staff dealing with residents in such a patient and caring way was so humbling as you never fully appreciate the difficult job these amazing people do. It was then I realised that Glennie House was my mum's home not just a care home and that we had been so lucky for that to be the case.
Reply from Jenny, Home Manager at Glennie House Care HomeThank you very much for the kind review, it was a pleasure getting to know mum and her extended family. She was "a fine wee lass, a bonnie wee lass" who will always be remembered fondly.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.837)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.837) out of 10 for Glennie House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.837 for Glennie House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (193 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 227 Ratings = 4.837
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glennie House Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
