Situated in the rural village of Auchinleck in East Ayrshire, Glennie House is a purpose built 52 bedded care home which offers specialist nursing, residential and dementia care. The home also offers respite stays on a long term and short term basis to give home carers a much-needed break.

Facilities at the home include en-suite bedrooms, spacious lounges, an on-site hair salon, attractive grounds with secure residents’ garden and a guest room which relatives can reserve for overnight stays. Wheelchair access is available throughout. A restaurant standard kitchen provides freshly prepared meals tailored to the residents’ preferences and needs.

The care manager is experienced and is qualified as a general nurse. The home offers excellent training and support to the care team to allow them to take care of the varied needs of residents, from specialist support to general assistance with everyday activities, while also respecting the residents’ need to live independent and dignified lives. The home also offers training, information and support to the relatives of residents to help them better understand the treatment and care requirements of their loved-one.

The home benefits from having built good relationships with the local council, GPs, physiotherapists, district nurses, social workers and other visiting healthcare professionals.

The Activities Coordinators at Glennie House provide a full programme of activities, entertainment and events for residents to choose from. The home maintains strong community links and access to a mini bus means that residents can enjoy day trips out.

My mother has an excellent relationship with all the staff, which makes her stay at Glennie more bearable in her old age. I couldn't think of a better place for her to be in her later years. Although the food is normally adequate, sometimes it is not up to standard. If the food could be improved it
would make a huge difference.

The care home and the care of my mother aged 101 receives is brilliant and the staff always go that extra mile for them. The only two things I find fault with is the lack of fresh vegetables in the menu and more activities is needed during the day rather than watching TV.

The review was attended by a senior carer and care practitioner. They both put me at ease and told me that this was my opportunity to raise any issues. We had a chat, and I raised some issues. Since arriving at the home, the nurses and carers have been wonderful looking after and entertaining Mum. They
also keep us informed of her well being.

I feel the standards in the home has fallen. There doesn't seem to be enough staff. Those who are there, do excellent work and give attention as soon as they can. The staff are exceedingly pleasant and helpful and are always friendly.

Having been a resident to put my mum in care and I am glad I have. I am able to get to work and not worry about her. She is cared for but still encouraged her independence as able. Mum loves it they take her out and she enjoys the entertainment and gets loads of food. Nice garden area.

Mother lived in Glennie house from around 2012/2013 until her death in March 2019. She was very well cared for and until her illness (dementia) prevented her was very much involved in most activities she loved and was loved by the staff.
It would be unfair to mention some staff and not others but all
were very professional, absolutely superb. I was kept fully up to date, despite living in the East Midlands. In the last few days of mum's life, the staff were simply brilliant, loving and very caring, not only to mum but to my brother and I. Thank you so much.

From our initial meeting with the Manager and staff of Glennie House and seeing around the care home I felt confident that my Mum would be well cared for. The staff have a friendly yet professional approach to residents and visitors. All of the staff have been welcoming and that kind, open approach
has helped our Mum settle into Glennie House. Mum has been treated as an individual and her views are listened to. Thank you. I feel our Mum is very well cared for.

My friend passed away recently in Glennie House, having been a resident there for just over a year. It was a great comfort to know that she was being well looked after and that the care was tailored to her specific individual needs. She settled amazingly well and felt that she was “among friends”.
When it came to her final days, she was given the appropriate end of life care which was delivered in a loving, caring and sensitive way. The staff were brilliant during this time - her close family, and myself as a close friend, were looked after in ways far beyond the call of duty - we were given meals, a room to rest in and endless cups of tea. Nothing was too much bother and the care and empathy that was shown to us brought comfort and help to us at such a sad time. I am grateful to the staff at Glennie and extremely impressed at the level of care.

My Dear Wife has always been cared for with compassion and empathy for her condition. I have always found all staff to be personally supportive and approachable at all times. Whilst it is never easy to consider care for our loved ones, I can honestly say that from our first visit, I have been reassured

I visited the home as a member of the church before my uncle became a resident.


I feel since he became a resident, the home has improved in all aspects of care. It is clean and well kept. Staff are always helpful and committed to the care of residents.

My impression of Glennie House on a first visit, is of a warm, friendly and cheerful environment. There seem plenty of staff around for residents (mid-week, mid-afternoon visit) and activities for residents to enjoy as they wish.
