I would highly recommend The Cedars. My aunt has been very happy since moving in. The staff are very caring, kind and helpful and always have a smile and time to spend with residents and visitors. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. There are regular activities, such as bingo and quizzes and singers come in to perform, which is well received. The Cedars is like a home from home; it is always warm and the home-cooked food is very good and enjoyed by all.

My dad was only in there a short time before he died, but we were impressed with his care and the staff were all lovely with him. They showed him great caring, understanding and compassion and he was really happy with them. The family were all there the day he died and because he died in his own chair the staff helped to move him to his bed in the most dignified way. Being a very religious man, the home contacted the local catholic priest who came all the way from Manchester where he was looking after his own sick mother, to give him last rites. Which we all witnessed. My dad had been made to look so peaceful in his bed.

All the family were given access to a sitting room and given tea, coffee and sandwiches. A lovely touch. Thank you.

All staff were friendly, helpful, caring and understanding. The Cedars is a very welcoming and homely place, unfortunately, Dad needed more care and had to be moved. We were very happy with him there and had no complaints whatsoever.

My 95yr old mother was placed at The Cedars whilst waiting for social care at home. She was severely sight impaired and had fluctuating levels of mobility which the care staff managed really well. She was made very welcome as were we, the family when visiting. Within weeks of placement, Mum's health deteriorated substantially. Staff were quick to act calling on support from health professionals when appropriate. Sadly, just as Mum was settling down at The Cedars she was taken into hospital for intense investigations but sadly passed away. We are grateful for the level of care and management at The Cedars and highly recommend it.

I am sorry to say, but the standard of care has slipped over the last 3 months at least.
The home is always struggling with staff, and the new staff they have been taking on, I wouldn't say all of them are the correct people for the job.
I have had a few occasions over the last month when I have found Mum just left sitting in the middle of the room in a chair all by herself, when questioned why the reply was they have forgot about her as they had been called to another job while in the process of moving her? I know she had been there a good hour or so.
Also, a lot of the staff are now training when asked or are agency so Mum doesn't connect with people she doesn't know very well.
Mum has gone downhill over the last couple of months and she is very upset and confused most times I go to see her now, and I must say it is very concerning.
She has always had an odd off day, but every day is the norm.

If I go over the weekend it is a lot worse as staff are very limited, 15 min average just to get inside.

Thank you for your honest review.
I want to thank you for coming in to see me personally to discuss this further.

The home does have a high agency usage at present, however we continue to remain consistent, using regular agency staff to ensure familiarity and consistency within the home. The home...

Mum went into The Cedars just prior to her 92nd birthday due to her becoming less mobile, though her mind remained sharp. Despite having to isolate due to Covid restrictions, she settled well and soon had a good rapport with the staff who would spend time talking to her. It was reassuring that she was local and being cared for. Despite the occasional setback or difficulty, the overall experience was comforting due to the caring nature of those looking after Mum for fifteen months until her passing away.

My aunt had been a resident at the home for almost twelve months. From the moment she arrived and until she left, she was treated with the utmost respect, dignity and compassion. The level of care was excellent and could not be faulted throughout her stay. The staff went above and beyond on a number of occasions to help keep her calm and contented, and on one occasion, a member of staff even went to the trouble of buying her the favourite face cream she used and refused to take any payment for it. Just one example of human kindness at its best. My wife and I would like to thank all the staff for their professionalism, and above all, the kindness shown to our aunt.

Being a single man and having lived on his own all his life, moving into the Cedars gave my Uncle the care and companionship he needed in his later life. He was well looked after and received good medical attention when necessary. The staff were always very friendly and the care home kept very bright and clean. My Uncle was very happy during his last three years.

I cannot praise the Cedars enough for all their hard work in caring for my Dad over the last few months. Particularly last month when sadly his health deteriorated. Staff was always attentive and caring and Dad was always clean and tidy (as all residents were). He loved the mealtimes and always commented to me how great the food is. Staff all deserve medals. Thanks for making Dad's last few months enjoyable.

My dad moved to The Cedars in October 2019 and from the very beginning, we were so impressed with the care and friendliness of the staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble and there was always staff wandering through the lounge, stopping to chat with the residents. My dad was treated with love and respect as if he was their family member. He enjoyed the great variety of meals and looked forward to tea and biscuits. We felt relief that having lived alone and struggled, he was now safe and secure 24 hours a day. When my dad became ill, the compassion of the staff to him and us was amazing. We would highly recommend The Cedars and have nothing but excellent praise for the wonderful team. Our only regret is, my dad didn't move there sooner.

My father was a resident in The Cedars for 12 months. During his stay there he received excellent care. The staff are very caring and attentive to all the residents and nothing is too much trouble. I was always made welcome at the home anytime and the staff were always friendly to me. They involved me in any activities and the residents are encouraged to participate in activities. My friend has been a resident from August 2017 through to February 2018. We were so pleased that we managed to find The Cedars, carers and management team are friendly and very helpful. Home is well kept and above all is very clean, I didn't walk into the usual smell that I have experienced before with other care homes. The staff always seem to know how the residents are doing, what they have done, who their friends are in the home, whether had a good or bad day and are always able to give you a comprehensive update. Staff are also very patient with residents and treat them with respect at all times. My friend had to move on due to requiring 24-hour nursing care to due to deterioration in condition, we really hope that the new home is as good as The Cedars. Thanks, to the manager and her team from making difficult times just that much easier to deal with.

My wife was admitted to The Cedars Holmes Chapel after a Cerebral Bleed for long-term care.
The treatment and care she receives is of the highest order. Nothing is too much trouble for all the staff.
The management and nursing staff keep me well informed of my wife's progress, which has been excellent under their expert care.
My wife is so well settled and happy, that she now refers to The Cedars as home.
If the care staff at all care homes were as professional and efficient as they are here, we would not be getting such negative reports daily in the press as we are now.
My wife has been at The Cedars since April 2017 and on reflection, I could not have chosen a better place for her.

My grateful thanks to the management and all the staff for their kindness to my wife and myself.
