Whilst the building is dated, the staff (including non carers) are all friendly and professional. There are often activities going on and some lovely outdoor areas to sit in. They made my mums final weeks dignified and comfortable.

My mum came to Crossways for respite care while my dad was in hospital. I cannot thank the staff enough for the kindness and compassion they showed my mum, and also me, during a difficult time. She flourished under their care.

My experience of the home is, on the whole, good, but Mum's room is in need of fresh decoration, which my mum has been waiting for for months.

My Mum has resided at Crossways for nearly eight years now and during that time I have always found the Staff to go out of their way to keep my Mum clean, fed,and comfortable. Recently my Mum has suffered an ongoing problem but the Staff are on it, doing all they can to rectify it and liaising with the GP on how to solve it. I couldn't ask for more.

I always feel well informed and happy to ask questions when I visit.

My Mother (91) was transferred to Crossways from hospital for 'end of life care'.
The care and attention given to her while at Crossways was excellent, all of the staff from admin, care, and catering were brilliant - 100% committed, nothing ever being 'too much trouble' for them.

Although my Mother was unable to take part, there were always organised activities for the residents to participate in. One other important point - the telephone was always answered promptly, unlike other care homes that we have experienced.

Mum has been in the home now since June 2023 as stepdad passed away in May and she could no longer manage on her own. She has enjoyed the company of the other residents and is still enjoying her time there. The only thing I can suggest is the carers wear name badges as it's quite difficult to remember the names of all the carers.

Reply from Matthew Gilbert, Home Manager at Crossways
Hi Sue thank you for the review and feedback. We are looking into the staff having identification and we are hopeful that this will be resolved soon.

Kind regards.

The management and staff make this home. They have amazing caring, great staff. Although the home is very much in need of updating the staff make up for that. We are although very disappointed with the food, they are bland and dry (ie no gravy or beans with meals) of which my dad struggles to eat. I have to take in ready meals.

I cannot say how caring the staff are and how well my father-in-law is looked after. Everything he needs is taken care of, he is never left alone for hours on end like in some places. He tells me he loves all the staff and I must say his personal care is second to none. Now he is being cared for his room is always spotless, clean clothes, clean bedding. The home smells clean and you can smell where the cleaners have been. It's all spotless. I couldn't wish for a better home for him to end his days.

The staff are brilliant, caring, patient and understanding. I cannot find fault with them at all. The home is warm and homely, although some areas are a little tired. Mum complains to me that the food is not as good as it was. I do understand this must be a difficult area due to rising costs.

The staff took good care of our mother, particularly when she was very weak and vulnerable. They have been very understanding in handling her vascular dementia. The building and contents do need updating and renewing, it all looks a bit tired. The staff are friendly, caring and kind.
