The Hawthorns

On entry, The Hawthorns feels welcoming, notably no smells! The manager and all the staff are kind and work hard to make everyone feel at home. They are endlessly helpful and supportive. I can't imagine a more special place for my father where he is safe among lovely people.

We couldn't have found a more caring, safe and lovely home for mum. Every member of staff has been wonderful with her and our family. It really is a home-from-home. Friendly and very welcoming, I have every faith that mum is being well looked after. Thank you all for your amazing work.

My brother and myself moved our sister from a home in Manchester miles away from her family; the best move ever. Sister and ourselves couldn't be happier. Sister is washed, dressed and out of bed every day (kept in bed previously in other home). The staff of all ranks are excellent and treat residents with respect. The care is second to none with activities daily. Practically every day Sister says she has never been happier.

In the few short weeks my sister has resided at The Hawthorns, she has blossomed. On every one of our visits, she tells us how happy she is, thanks to all the staff and the professional, attentive and respectful care she receives.

Lovely welcome from staff and management. Carers are brilliant and professional. The lunch is always something different and sounds very nice. They are asked what they want for breakfast, so very accommodating to the residents. The Hawthorns is a lovely, clean and friendly care home with hard-working carers and management, well looked after.

Fantastic staff and management make for an excellent experience for the residents. Good food, entertainment and a high level of care. I'm so pleased my mum ended up in their home and I would love to see my nanna in the same home.

I have always found the staff to be friendly, helpful and caring. The home is clean, tidy and well-kept. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to someone.

My relative moved into The Hawthorns three months ago and she has been very happy there. The staff are all very helpful and friendly and treated my relative with respect and dignity. There is a lovely, friendly atmosphere at The Hawthorns, and all the residents seem happy and sociable. Unfortunately, The Hawthorns could not provide the dementia care my mother needs, so she has now moved; otherwise, I would have been happy for her to stay long-term.

The Hawthorns is a friendly, well-run care home. The staff could not be better. They are always helpful and there is a happy atmosphere about the place. Some homes have an unpleasant smell but this is unknown at The Hawthorns. We are very pleased with the way my xxx is being looked after. I am glad we made the right choice.

My partner, who is 85, arrived at The Hawthorns from the hospital a year ago having suffered a stroke. He was far from well and was clearly feeling anxious and disturbed about the future, sensing that his ability to cope with every day was not what he had been used to over the last few years and certainly was not improving. It was bewildering and worrying both to him and to us. We hated seeing him like that. He hated feeling that way. The care provided at The Hawthorns has been understanding of both his physical disabilities and his growing limitations - he keeps busy, but he is also kept safe, and importantly, he gets enjoyment and a feeling of purpose from the day. We can't thank you enough for what you are doing for him and for all your residents under what continue to be very difficult circumstances.

The staff here are committed to their work and care about the residents, and show interest in the life of the individual, knowing them well. A clean and homely environment!

The Hawthorns is excellent in every way. Staff are loving, kind and caring.

The Hawthorns have provided the best possible care for my mum. They go above and beyond to make sure my mum is cared for any happy. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

The staff worked extremely hard during the covid crisis.

My mother, who is 92, had a weeks respite in the Hawthorns at the beginning of September. I was so nervous and anxious at the prospect of Mum's first taste of a care home and whether she would settle. I need not have worried. I had long discussions with the staff before admission about the care my mum needed and what would help her settle. The staff were wonderful and the care excellent. She settled in well and the staff, day and night, did everything they could to make her feel welcome. I can’t thank everyone enough, it was my husband's and my first break in two years. I would highly recommend this home to anyone. Thank you for the care and attention you gave my mum.

Since the day, my partner was welcomed into The Hawthorns; he was treated with care, kindness and respect. I am confident he is being well cared for, as the staff update me regularly on is health and well being. The manager, is at all times, professional and caring.

More activities which are very beneficial to the residents.

I had a friend here and visited a few times so when my partner's 'live-in' carer went back to Greece and I had to go to Marakesh for my daughter's 60th, I decided on The Hawthorns. I also went to my house on the Isle of Man with my daughter knowing my partner was safe here. Then, when the airline went bust and then the virus struck I was away for 3 months - thank God he was here.

Things are definitely going in the right direction!

My mother has been a resident for two and a half years and is now 99 and is looking so well. She receives excellent care and attention and we as her family receive information as and when necessary.
