Mum was a resident at Hillcrest for one year and during that time I had utter confidence and peace of mind that she could not have been anywhere better. It always looked and smelt nice and clean, with a homely feel to it.

My mum was accommodated on a respite basis and then ended up staying for nearly one year. The manager and home were very supportive and flexible on admission and she soon became relatively settled, making a good friend of one of the other residents. Over the year the amount of activities seemed to increase
and towards the end of her stay they appeared to be fairly frequent. All the staff were kind and supportive, responding to my mum's unpredictable moods and behaviour.


In relation to staff, all were good but some were excellent and went above and beyond expectations. We were never asked to input into a care plan or review which would have been useful.


When my mum left the home to move to somewhere closer to us, again the manager and staff were very understanding and supportive - this was greatly appreciated.

I find the staff to be helpful, respectful and courteous to their residents. The food seems good and varied. My only concern is that the residents don't have enough entertainment or activity sessions.
Perhaps if they asked churches/schools etc then had a few more music/choir/singers etc or physical
games - pass the ball etc.

From the minute Mum arrived at Hillcrest for respite 18 months ago, she has felt safe and comfortable there. The environment, leadership and staff have supported her and our family with her sad deterioration with Alzheimer's disease. I couldn't ask for more for Mum. Whilst sad, it is lovely to visit
Mum and her friends in a new home.

When the home carers decided they no longer look after my mother due to her severe dementia and lack of mobility, I had already looked at several care homes in the area but only came across Hillcrest at the last minute. After I dropped in unannounced, I was so impressed with what I saw! My mother
was accepted last December and I cannot praise the establishment too much. I have nothing but praise for the staff and management. I am sure that my mother could not be in safer hands. First class and I cannot recommend Hillcrest enough.

Julie has been a cornerstone of Hillcrest for an impressive 17 years, working her way up to the role of Deputy Manager. Before joining our team, Julie was a childminder, a role that allowed her to balance her professional life with her family's needs. Her experience in caring for children, some as young as three months old, has instilled in her a deep-rooted understanding of nurturing and compassionate care.


Her long tenure at Hillcrest is a testament to the home's welcoming and homely environment, a quality that Julie cherishes deeply. It's this sense of warmth and familiarity that has made Hillcrest not just a workplace, but a second home for her. Julie believes in treating our residents with the same love and care as if they were her own family, a philosophy that resonates throughout our home.


Outside of work, Julie enjoys spending quality time with her grandchildren and her two beloved West Highland Terriers. These personal joys bring balance to her life, enriching her ability to provide empathetic and heartfelt care to our residents.


In her role as Deputy Manager, Julie's knowledge of each resident's care needs is unparalleled. She works closely with the Registered Manager, assisting in organising staff rotas, coordinating training courses, and managing the myriad of day-to-day tasks that are crucial for the smooth running of Hillcrest. Her attention to detail and her commitment to excellence ensure that our residents receive the best possible care.
