The Laurels

My mother in law came into The Laurels a few months ago. She has settled really well and we are very impressed with the standard of care she receives. The staff are very friendly and the home is cosy and welcoming. My husband and I feel that there has been a real improvement in her overall well-being. Thank you for the support you give in what must have been a very difficult time in the care sector.

The Laurels has extremely caring, communicative and approachable staff. Always a great atmosphere in the communal areas, lots of chatter and laughter, helped I'm sure, by the well-stocked hot drinks and snack trolley! There are quiet areas too if preferred. Plenty of activities, themed parties such as Halloween, bonfire night etc Health problems are dealt with swiftly, family members are updated regularly. During the lockdown post-Christmas ‘21, regular video calls have been made available and we see photos of loved ones too, taken during activities or weekly pamper days! Food looks good and home-cooked. Nice to know that Mum is happy and living in a care home where care, dignity, compassion, fun, safety and security are paramount. Thank you.

I have nothing but praise for this care home. My uncle is very happy here, happier than I've seen him in a long time and all thanks to the excellent care he has received in the years that he has been at the Laurels. Nothing is too much for the staff - he enjoys himself and is very well fed and looked after. I do not think you will find a better place for your family member when the time comes to find somewhere.

During the start of the pandemic, my Nan was moved to the Laurel’s from hospital and we were so lucky this was the case. The staff made a difficult transition with additional challenges of isolation as smooth as they possibly could have been; helping with phone calls and window visits. They have gone above and beyond to ensure we are able to see our loved ones within lockdown. The staff are extremely helpful and clearly know the residents well. Nan always appreciates the activities and it’s a joy to see her still enjoying being creative!

I’ve had limited opportunity to view facilities with covid restrictions so my ratings reflect that.

I can honestly say after the service my elderly friend received in The Laurels I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else, every area of service is done to a very high standard and the love and care given to the residents is amazing.

My husband has been living at The Laurels for 5 months and I think we definitely made the right choice of home for him. The staff could not be kinder or more welcoming to myself or our family. He can be difficult, but they have gone out of their way to help him settle in, and feel at home.

I can't praise the staff enough for their care and help to my mother while she was in the home while she was alive and also the care they gave her during her last days. They were also so kind to me in the last days of my mum's life.

I am really pleased with The Laurels. My mum has been in just over 12 months. They can't do enough for her, they look after so well. My mum loves it there. Its clean and the food is very nice. The staff are all very welcoming and do a great job of caring for everyone. I would recommend The Laurels care home.

My mother came into the home eleven months ago. My first contact was with the manager who was most understanding and kind. Mum has dementia and was in a difficult position at home. The staff were very kind and caring when mum entered the home. Naturally, it was a strange place for her. Since then they have attended well to all her needs. They notice as soon as she needs a doctor. Also, importantly they have a laugh with her and continue to be kind and caring. They work very hard and mum is treated with dignity. I highly recommend all the staff and thank them.

My first impression of the home was the number of staff on duty in the room. When my mother went in as a temporary resident I was very pleased indeed at how caring and attentive they were. On seeing the food served I was pleased at that too and the different food needs for the residents. The room my mother was in was a lovely room with its own toilet and shower. All in all, it was an excellent care home with the emphasis on care.

Much effort made in making the home attractive and ready for Christmas in spite of remedial work being undertaken. Care was taken to ensure that the residents had an enjoyable time.

My parents have been residents of The Laurels for just over a year. The care and support that they have each received has been excellent. My parents' needs have changed considerably over that time and this was anticipated and accommodated at every step. All of the staff are wonderful with the residents, from the manager to the cleaning staff. The food is home cooked and the house is clean and bright. There are weekly activities laid on and regular visits from local churches. I have no hesitation in recommending The Laurels to you. The provision of care is person centred and optimises each residents' level of wellness and wellbeing.

We are always greeted with a smile at the door and the home is always clean smelling and a pleasure to enter, the staff are pleasant and warm toward all residents within the home
