My mother came to Leycester House for respite care.
When it became obvious that she would not be able to live independently in her own home, she was offered a permanent residential place. We were both very pleased as she likes the home, staff and feels safe here. I am confident that the staff can cater
to her individual needs in a very caring setting.

I was taken to Leycester House from hospital after having a bad fall and fracturing badly my left wrist, I have already other health and mobility problems. I was treated so well and made so welcome by all the lovely staff, they couldn't do enough for me despite having lots of other residents to see
to. Made my stay there so very pleasant and I was soon getting my confidence back. Many, many thank to these wonderful people, and the food'well', was delicious, always lots of choices. Thank you all at Leycester House.

Mum was given short term care after a fall breaking her wrist.
Mum has been well looked after with good food mum says.
The staff are amazing and do a fab job.
Certain areas and carpets could do with an update and paint on the walls. Maybe make it a little more modern.

Recently my wife spent a short time at Leycester House.
We found it a very good experience.
It was bright and cheerful, very easy for anyone with mobility problems.
The staff could not have been more considerate and helpful, nothing was too much trouble to them.

Cannot fault carers or food, both excellent. Staff gave me support whilst letting me do as much as I could, I think that got me home early. Activities were fun with a lot of laughs.

Again my sincerest thanks to all of the staff and the physiotherapist for all their help and kindness.

My dad was well looked after and they really cared for him.
The staff spent time with him, kept up his spirits.
Only thing negative is that it could do with updating but the main thing is they really do care about the residents which makes up for it being older.

My 92 yr old mother was admitted for 3 weeks after a spell in hospital to regain strength, weight and mobility. The staff were professional and kind. Many live locally so had worked there for some time. The quality of food provided by the chef and team was excellent and all staff quickly tailored
her meals to ensure she was not over faced. The intermediate care team visited regularly and Mum made great progress and returned to her own home. The layout is very good, especially upstairs and the rooms vary but all are bright and clean. The only reason we would not have rated even higher than we have was due to issues with the ageing plumbing. There are no en-suite rooms just commodes in each room Although there are adequate toilets around the home a number were out of order - some for several days. This put their cleaning under pressure and did cause issues at times. I am sure the excellent management are on to this and I would then highly recommend Leycester House and its staff.

The staff are the most important ingredient and the staff at Leycester House rose to what was expected of them.

The care given in the home was excellent and all the staff were very hard working and dedicated. They made such a difference to my mum and she really improved her mobility and general wellbeing whilst in their care. The only improvement would be as regards to bathrooms which lacked showers and could
do with some modernisation. I would have no hesitation in recommending Leycester House.

I am very happy as a resident in Leycester House. The staff are caring, kind and attentive. They meet my needs and are flexible. My room is well maintained, regularly cleaned and cheerful. The food is home cooked and tasty, the menus are varied. Facilities are adequate and although there are no en-suite
bedrooms, there are plenty of toilets in easy reach. I am here as a temporary resident due to a food operation so hope to go home soon. However, I have no hesitation in recommending this care home to others.

I am here primarily to be with my wife due to feet problems. 90 years old I do have dementia and can only thank the staff for their readiness to help with her personally or medically.
The food and accommodation are fine. How everyone remembers our names is outstanding as I have trouble remembering
my own. Thank you Leycester House.

Notwithstanding the need for a refurbishment, that alone is cosmetic, the quality of care is excellent.
My mother, an articulate lady of 95, moved in on September 15th and has felt extremely secure within the home.
There is a high level of staffing and each very attentive.
There are other homes that
may be smarter however at the end of the day it must be about the quality of care.
Leycester House scores highly.

My mother has always enjoyed going to Leycester House - as day care and now full-time. She enjoys the banter with the staff, who are exceptional in their understanding of the old, infirm, confused clients. They are wonderful how they deal with the care with such dedication and commitment. The home is
managed by two wonderful dedicated members of staff, always available to assist with queries and problems. The chef provides a superb service (my mother's words). All in all such a nice 'home from home' place to live. We are so lucky to have such a great facility in the community. We need more like Leycester House.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.435)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.435) out of 10 for Leycester House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.310 for Leycester House is calculated as follows: ( (26 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 58 Ratings = 4.31
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.125 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Leycester House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.625
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
