Brookside Care Home

My father went to Brookside Care Home in July for respite. He became ill and after a stay in hospital (1 week) he returned to Brookside as a permanent resident. His care has been very good after coming out of the hospital with a grade 3 bedsore. Brookside staff and district nurses helped my fathers sore to heal. He is a dementia patient who is looked after with dignity and respect. All staff and especially care manager very good.

My mother-in-law has always been a strong minded person and has said on many occasions she would not go into a care home and this comment has been on the relatives minds for some time. She is now 90 years of age with deteriorating health, so we were concerned after leaving hospital, after her latest fall, that she would refuse to go to be cared for. It is now a relief to see her settled at 'Brookside' with caring staff, and home cooked food. Her health has also improved.

We are so thankful that dad is in Brookside with such a wonderful caring staff. They always have time for the residents and visitors. They work hard and deserve massive credit. The atmosphere reflects the work and attitude of the staff. All the residents appear to be very content, safe and comfortable. Thank you.

During what was an extremely emotional transition from hospital to care home, the staff and management at Brookside were exceptionally caring and understanding to the feelings of my mum and the rest of the family. it has now been a month and my mum has really settled in. Brookside provide genuine care for the people who live there. They are very welcoming and are always willing to answer any questions. They provide stimulating activities and my mum has thrived on the excellent food provided there.

Ever since my mother arrived at Brookside after a traumatic stay in a local hospital, she has been treated with dignity and respect by all the staff and management. They have helped mum to settle in feel safe and secure and she is now looking better than she has for a long time. My family are very grateful to the manager and all the staff, they do a fantastic job of caring for the residents at Brookside.

Every visit I make you are made to feel very welcome. The staff are very pleasant and always make you feel welcome. There seems to be a lot of activities which is a good way to make the people there feel involved with every day experiences. The rooms are spacey and there is a good environment within the home. Excellent all round.

The care home is very comfortable for my father in law. The staff are extremely caring, nurturing and respectful. The staff are always on hand to answer any queries or concerns we as a family have. The food is all home cooked and is delicious. Extremely good care home and dedicated staff.

I visit my mother on a weekly basis and I am always pleased with the standard of care given to her and the other residents. Often the staff don't know I am there but I have never heard them speak unkindly to any of the residents.

This is dad's home. I chose it because it is a safe caring place with very friendly staff. At all times Dad is very well cared for and I know he will be looked after.

After trawling around many care homes, I decided upon Brookside, as soon as I went in I knew it was where I wanted my relative to stay. There was an immediate friendliness from both staff and other residents. A laid back, but caring atmosphere. A smaller residential home, rather than a large one, which is what I was looking for. All residents seem happy; rooms are nice, facilities for fun, enjoyment and relaxation are all good. Turnaround of clothes/bedding laundering is excellent. The day to day needs and care of residents by staff is very high.

My grandfather was a resident of Brookside care home and now in a nursing home. I went to the manager of Brookside for some professional advice, as I feel my grandfather is not being cared for in his current home. The manager at Brookside was extremely friendly and accommodating and was able to give me the guidance and help I sought. Whilst at the home ALL the staff I met there were pleasant and friendly with smiles on their faces. It was a refreshing change from the home my grandfather now resides at.

All in all it has been a very positive experience. My mothers quality of life has improved 100%. There is a very friendly atmosphere. The staff are helpful and caring and treat my mother with respect. The manager is very approachable and runs the home in a very efficient way. I have full confidence in the way my mother is being looked after. Every effort is made to make it a real home rather than an institution. Residents are treated as individuals, birthdays are celebrated, trips out arranged and various activities are arranged.

This care home does everything it's name implies in providing genuine care and a real home for it's residents. The ethos is set by the manager's challenge to her staff to treat each resident as if they are their own parent.
