Unfortunately in March this year (2016) my dad had to go into full time care due to Alzheimer's and other debilitating illnesses. Mum couldn't cope anymore, after a few weeks we were visited by two members of staff from Hill Croft care home in Aughton. Not long after, dad was taken there full time.
The
service they provide is second to none, the management go above and beyond to help not just the residents settle in but family members are at ease leaving loved ones behind. The staff are very friendly and are always available for a chat and to explain about what your family member has been like and what they have done. The home is just amazing and you feel relaxed leaving dad there. Can't thank the staff enough, they do an amazingly difficult job very well. Would I recommend this care home to anyone?
Yes in a heartbeat.

Thank you Hillcroft TEAM we now sleep at night knowing dad is safe and very looked after xx
Out of TEN it is definitely TWENTY.

With all the bad media you see nowadays I believe that the staff and management here require very high praise for the amazing care and welcoming environment they have created and maintain here. As family of a resident we are always welcome and not restrained to visiting times, a small feature that gives
peace of mind. With children being welcomed just as much as adults, and welcomed to interact with all residents and staff alike. Always the warm inviting smell of fresh home cooked food in the air and lots of entertainment and family fun days organised regularly. Cannot thank the staff enough for the amazing job they do on a daily basis, not just with My Grandad, who has settled in very well, but with us as a family, as we always feel welcomed.

My Granddad has been at Hillcroft for six months and settled in so much, thanks to all the amazing staff who bend over backwards to make every person in Hillcroft feel safe and relaxed. Not only are they exceptional with members living there, they are amazing with us. The families and always helpful
with our needs too. I could go on and on how amazing this care home is but, just a few things that make it special are; the food is fab lots of entertainment planned, they genuinely care, my granddad goes on lots of days out, garden is beautiful, the place is spotless, very relaxing, we are welcome any time and most of all my grandad is happy. We always leave happy and relieved he is happy there.

My mother has been a resident at Hillcroft for the last 8 months. I can honestly say that Hillcroft is a wonderful home. I feel at ease as I know my mother is being looked after and cared for. The staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. The staff keep you informed if there are any concerns
regarding your loved one and also alert you when your loved one is unwell. My mother has dementia and was living with me at the beginning of last year and her dementia took a turn for the worse. I had the daunting task of finding a suitable home for her. The first home that my mother was in was absolutely awful and my mother was quite distressed all the time she was there. My mother was assessed by Hillcroft and was accepted as a resident in December 2015. My mother seems to enjoy being at Hillcroft and is more settled which makes me happy.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.768)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.768) out of 10 for Hillcroft is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.768 for Hillcroft is calculated as follows: ( (226 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 263 Ratings = 4.768
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hillcroft is based on 21 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 21 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
