The Knowle Care Home opened in 1986 and the original building was created from two large Victorian houses.

In 2018, The Knowle Care Home, one of Preston's leading residential and dementia care homes, opened the doors to it's a new purpose-built extension and The Knowle can now offer a combination of modern or more traditional rooms.

The Knowle is able to accommodate 32 residents, which allows the home to maintain a homely and friendly atmosphere. The majority of the bedrooms have en-suite facilities and the home is also able to offer companion bedrooms for those couples who wish to share.

The outstanding staff team are led by the experienced registered manager who has been in the post for six years. This stability and experience together with the highly trained and caring staff provide an excellent environment for residents.

The registered manager and the staff team appreciate that a move into residential care can be a stressful time for the resident and loved ones and are on hand to help and to answer any queries.

In addition to the high level of care provided, the residents at The Knowle benefit from the activity and lifestyle program which is led by the dedicated activities coordinator. There is a wide variety of activities available to suit everyone's tastes. Group activities are provided and there is also dedicated one-to-one time.

There are regular residents and relatives meetings to help enhance and continually improve the service.

Two experienced chefs are employed at The Knowle Care Home to ensure that the meals, snacks and homemade cakes that are provided are of an excellent standard.

The Knowle Care Home received the Investors in People award in December 2020.

The Knowle Care Home was rated as 'good' in all areas by CQC in November 2020.

All the staff are friendly and approachable. My nan seems to think highly of the staff and enjoys living at The Knowle. It is always clean and the meals are good. Communication with family is also very good.
The drive is on a hill and has many potholes, sometimes the staff cars park too close together
on the drive which makes it unsafe for walking frame usage. The ramp also needs attention.

Given the news from the hospital that my mother could not return home was upsetting and equally worrying. I was worried about what care my mother might receive going into a home and I didn’t know where to start the process of finding my mother a home. I was given a list of homes by the hospital.
The
first home I visited was The Knowle care home and the staff were reassuring and friendly and were understanding of my concerns and nerves. From the minute I walked in it felt homely and the home had a wonderful atmosphere. After looking around other homes I chose The Knowle for my mother and I couldn’t be happier with the care she receives. Mother is happy and content whenever I visit and the staff keep me informed of any changes or updates with my mother.

The home is excellent, both the manager and the staff are extremely caring and helpful. I was worried about my relative having to go into a care home, however, both the manager and the staff helped put my mind at ease. I visited the home on various occasions prior to my relative moving in and each time
the manager and the staff were very helpful.
Since moving in both my relative and myself are really happy with the care she receives. I would highly recommend The Knowle Care Home.

It can be very stressful dealing with an emergency need for a care home. The Knowle were great about helping us organise a private ambulance and taking care of the details. Lovely place.
