My wife was diagnosed with rapid onset dementia and entered Lakeview in April 2020 just as lockdown started, initially for respite care. Covid restrictions have meant that visiting has subsequently been extremely difficult for both of us but the staff couldn't have been nicer. The manager is approachable,
responsive and efficient. The carers appear kind and motivated to make residents as comfortable as possible, always helpful. The room is pleasant and the accommodation is generally clean and well maintained. Difficult for me to comment on food or activities but everyone seems happy and settled.
If there can be any positive aspect at all to this situation it is that I am able to be confident she is safe, secure and well cared for.

My wife stayed at Lakeview Lodge from July 2020 until December 2020, I found all members of staff to be helpful, caring to my wife’s needs.
They made the family feel welcome and informed as much as COVID 19 restrictions would allow.
There were personal bonds made between my wife and staff, that helped
her settle and feel safe.
I would like thank everyone at Lakeview Lodge for the kindness, care and dignity shown to my wife.

As a family, we had to take the difficult decision in early 2019 for Mum to become a permanent resident of Lakeview after spending respite care there on a few occasions. We have never looked back, knowing we have done the right thing to enable her to enjoy the next chapter in her life. The staff are
fantastic, the food excellent, Mum's care is perfect and she enjoys all activities, especially music which brings her so much joy. Thank you, Lakeview and especially during the difficult Covid-19 situation. We would highly recommend your care home to others.

We are really happy with Lakeview Lodge, it was a very hard decision to make to move my nana here in January, (previously she lived with myself and my mum). Nana first went in for 3 weeks respite but once we saw how well she settled, as a family we decided it was the right time to make things more permanent.
Unfortunately not long after, lockdown happened, which meant we couldn’t visit her, which was hard for us and Nana and between me, mum and my other sisters we tried to see her at least every other day to help her adjust. The care the staff have shown her and us throughout the coronavirus has been brilliant, we are kept fully updated at all times either by phone or email. Nothing is too much trouble when you ring to see how she is and staff even arranged a video chat for us. We love the FaceBook updates and photos where we can see all the fabulous activities you do and see how happy all the residents are.

Dad originally came to Lakeview Lodge Rest Home, for respite for Mum, just prior to COVID-19 restrictions coming into force. After 65yrs marriage, together all the time, it was gut-wrenching for him to leave home. Dad settled well, undoubtedly due to the staff at the home delivering outstanding care,
both for him and the consideration shown for Mum and the family when we are constantly checking on his well-being. Nothing is too much trouble.
Dad's health and well-being has improved dramatically despite his vascular dementia; so has Mum's now the stress and worry of caring for him alone at home have been taken away. There have been blips along the way but we have been kept fully informed of his treatment and condition. He is now to make his residency permanent - a great relief to the whole family. Hopefully soon we will be able to visit him and also thank the staff team in person.
My family and I have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.

Mum has been in this care home for nearly two years. Since Christmas, there has been a change in her dementia and the staff have been excellent in working with us and the medical services to get Mum stable again. The new manager has put a lot of new ideas in place and the facilities have improved as
a result.
I would recommend this care home and do when asked about dementia care.

I am the son of a resident and in my opinion, I think the care home is OK in most terms. There is a question about how people can be able to walk about at night going from room to room as my father experienced when, twice, a lady has come into his bedroom late at night. The family are a bit concerned
about this, everything else, he is very happy to be here.

Homely and welcoming. Friendly hard working staff who do their best under trying circumstances. Dad always clean and tidy when I visit and settling in. I do worry about dad but I'm a worrier and always have been so not a reflection on home.

Mum came to stay at Lakeview for respite when we were going on holiday for an extended period. From the moment we made initial contact to the moment mum left we felt like we were in very good hands indeed. Mum has a lot of needs and is quite a demanding person, but the team at Lakeview Lodge coped with
her very well and mum was very happy whilst she was there. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending the place.

Considering the homes we have looked at before making our decision, Lake View has been the most outstanding for care, cleanliness, helpful and friendly staff. Most important of all is knowing that my father is in good hands.

My mum really enjoyed her stay of two weeks at Lake View. She said the staff were helpful and kind. The management was also very helpful and caring. It's the second visit in two years and mum and myself, as her daughter, am happy with the care given.
The extra care and help given to mum was also wonderful
with the love, care and commitment she was shown.
My mum will definitely be coming back.

The home is clean. The residents are clean.
The residents are well fed. Staff are friendly.
What is missing is a total lack of stimulation for the residents. No jigsaws being done, no get together for a sing song.
No general interaction between the residents.

When the manager came to assess mum after her most recent fall, we were immediately put at ease. Mum went initially for a couple of weeks respite but loved it there and is now a permanent resident. The staff are friendly and professional and they go out of their way to help all the residents in their
care. The food is good and there are choices for every meal. The rooms are kept spotlessly clean by the friendly cleaning team. Altogether a happy friendly home and we have no concerns about our mums care.

My experience from the very first meeting with the manager when she came to assess my mum at home has been one of great satisfaction.
I feel happy that my mum is treated with dignity and respect and kindness by all the staff including cleaners, cooks etc.
The home is warm and comfortable and clean
and bright.
Communication is excellent by staff members and as a family we are well looked after.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.375)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.375) out of 10 for Lakeview Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.675 for Lakeview Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.675
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lakeview Lodge is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 29 registered maximum number of service users is 5.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
