Lakeview Lodge

Mum moved to Lakeview Lodge in 2024 as her Alzheimer's progressed, which as a daunting experience for all of us. However, she was immediately made to feel at home and settled into the routine. She is extremely well cared for, and the open visiting policy means that family can visit freely and take out residents whenever possible. There is plenty of space downstairs for residents to move around, and the rooms are a good size, well proportioned and have their own shower rooms. The food is always exceptional, and mum is eating better than ever. The activities are excellent with accessible quizzes, games and entertainment giving everyone the opportunity to get involved. I particularly remember staying one morning when a visiting musician arrived on Mum's birthday, everyone was singing and interacting, creating such a lovely atmosphere. The chef even made a glorious birthday cake and everyone sang happy birthday to her. The manageress is terrific and communicates brilliantly with family members about any concerns, while carers are consistently kind and caring. Together they create a warm, positive and genuinely homely environment where mum is very happy and well cared for.

Nothing has been too much trouble. She gets her hair done every week. They have regular activities such as the music man and keep fit. My mum does not remember what she does or what goes on but I know and she is happy which is the main thing. I was able to accompany her to the zoo and staff made me very welcome. Great memory for me.

I'd rather be at home with my husband at times (he visits daily) and our two sons visit weekly. They explain why I need to be here, which I (often reluctantly) accept. At times there are visits from other friends and relatives.

My mum has had a fantastic experience staying at the home for the last year and a half. The manager Kristina and staff Paula and all the others have looked after and cared for her so well and she has really enjoyed staying here. She loved the food and the activities provided.

My mother had advanced dementia when she came to Lakeview (having stayed there for respite care occasionally before this). The care home managed her so well and kept her family regularly updated when we were not able to visit. Mum had almost no speech by the time she died but I always felt that the staff got the information they needed about her needs. Her room was warm and cosy.

Mum has stayed at Lakeview Lodge for over 2 years. I am happy with the care she is getting. Her room is very nice and the food is good.

All staff have been good and patient and soon got to grip's with my stepmum's needs and diet. The manager tries to get he involved in activities and trips out. She has settled in well and seems happy.

My Grandmother has been at Lakeview Lodge for four months now, and myself and the family are so happy with how quickly she has settled in. She has dementia and severe communication difficulties, but the staff are always so supportive and kind, treating her with genuine warmth and dignity. Having had a negative experience with a care home immediately proceeding her admission into Lakeview, we were apprehensive, thankfully this was quickly proven unjustified. I would certainly recommend Lakeview for loved ones with dementia.

The resident is well looked after, and is happy and settled, eats very well.

Mum's room is lovely, always clean and has a great view of Fairhaven Lake and the sea. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is good and freshly prepared. The rooms downstairs are bright, and there is a nice atmosphere with televisions for residents to watch. Overall, it's a good home, and we are pleased we chose to bring our mum here.

He has severe dementia along with other medical issues - but I could not wish for him to be in a more caring environment.

My Dad was at Lakeview for 15 months and had great care and attention there. He was admitted as he is suffering from dementia. The team running Lakeview is very helpful kind and understanding to everyone’s needs. His room was on the first floor accessed via a lift that was kept clean and tidy and the social area was comfortable and clean. There are activities run most days and all are encouraged to participate in. For myself, on a personal measure, the unit manager is super professional and a great communicator. The ambiance of this care home is a reflection of her.

Mum is very well cared for. The staff are very good with all the residents. The home is very clean and tidy. The staff try to make it a happy home to live in!

My mum was admitted in March 2021 to Lakeview Lodge she has been looked after with care and I am always made welcome when visiting. Her room and lounge areas are always clean and tidy and the staff are always pleasant and caring towards her needs. I am impressed with all the activities the residents can participate in the themed events which are done on a regular basis. At no time have I felt my mum has been unhappy.

My dad has been at Lakeview Lodge for about five months now. The decision to move dad into a care home was not made lightly. His decision was causing problems for him to live alone, and after much soul searching I decided to give the home a try. This was the very best decision, Dad has settled in really well and he seems more alert and enjoys joining in with the many activities that the staff provide.

She also said she would be happy to return for another holiday as she put it.

My father was a resident from August 2020 until February 2022. Due to my father needing more specialised Dementia Care, it was with sadness that we had to move him from Lakeview Lodge. My father was very settled and happy there, and the care was of a very high standard. The staff were very friendly, and it’s obvious they care a great deal about their residents. It was always a comfort to me to know he was safe and well looked after, anything medical was dealt with promptly, doctors called out when needed, informed if he needed anything at all. I cannot praise all the staff enough chef, housekeeping, carers, everyone who makes Lakeview Lodge the wonderful place it is. I have to also add that the Lakeview Lodges manager is exceptional and helped with patience, compassion and understanding throughout the last difficult months, of which I will be eternally grateful.

My great aunt has been a resident at Lakeview Lodge for over 3 years. She has received a fantastic level of care by the staff and this has been a great comfort to our family, knowing she is in safe hands.

As visitors, we have always been well received by the staff and our visits have been well-coordinated, especially during the pandemic and we have been updated on restrictions and able to see out Auntie when possible.

Just recently my aunt celebrated her 99th Birthday and we were able to visit to pass on the well wishes of friends and family. The home really went above and beyond on the day to make her feel special and she said she “felt like a queen!” Her day consisted of music and dancing and the home even made a birthday cake with her picture on. Our auntie was made to feel so special and she had a fabulous time.

The staff are always friendly and obviously care so much about all the residents. The atmosphere in the home is always happy and I would recommend Lakeview to all.

I would recommend Lakeview Lodge to anyone who has a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer's requiring temporary or permanent residential care.

Excellent dementia care home, well run with caring, considerate and helpful staff. My mother moved there over a year ago after needing extra care due to onset of vascular dementia and the care she has received has been very good. Staff are knowledgeable and caring and arrange doctor call-outs when required and keep us informed. Staff are friendly and helpful and always make visiting a pleasure. They have coped very well through the Covid crisis and managed well through this difficult time, including construction of a visitors booth. Mum always appears clean and well dressed when I visit and the home will call me if they need anything (clothes etc.). Mum also had a medical problem (prolapse) when she started at the home and the care given by the staff and visiting medical teams has resulted in this becoming much less of a problem than it was over a year ago.
