My mother was newly diagnosed with dementia, was at high risk of falls and it became clear she needed 24 hour care. The team at Milton Lodge treat her with dignity and respect. Staff are friendly and always have time to answer any questions I may have about her care. From the moment you walk into the
home, it feels just like home. No bad smells, no strong air fresheners to cover smells and the rooms are always spotlessly clean. All the residents look clean, dressed, men shaved and hair brushed. My mums room, although small, is always spotlessly clean. Her clothes are washed and she always looks presentable. The food, sounds to be tasty and there is lots of choice. The residents are offered lots of brews, jugs of water, in my mums case a jug of lemonade to keep her hydrated. Any concerns, can be discussed with Nicola the manager. She is approachable and seems to lead by example - a good one.
As a retired nurse I had set the bar high and I highly recommend this home. She is now safe.

Our mum has been a resident since April 2025.
The care she receives is absolutely fantastic the staff are all lovely and show mum nothing but respect and care.
They go above and beyond to make sure mum is cared for and comfortable.
It really is the closet thing to a home from home experience and
we cannot thank the staff enough x

Mum has been a resident for several years now. She can at times be grumpy and demanding and has higher needs than most of the residents. The care and compassion of the staff is extraordinary. They are unfailingly patient and kind. When my time comes I hope there will be a space for me in the Lodge.

My mother has been a resident for approximately 1.5 years and now my father too for around 6 months. I cannot speak highly enough about the team at Milton Lodge. Their warmth, care and dedication constantly shine through and all the family can relax knowing our parents are safe and well cared for.

From my experience, I have a good overall experience of the home and their care for my father. Specifically, certain carers who have a lot of patience for him even when he is stubborn and hard work.
I appreciate the way they have looked after him and continue to do so.

Our Nana had been at Milton Lodge for the last few years until passing away there recently at the age of 98. During this time I visited the home at all hours through the day and night. I saw every member of staff going about their work and I can honestly say they have special DNA; to do the job they
do with such tenderness, humour and compassion. Nan was part of a family there and it gave us all great comfort to know how well she was cared for. All the staff knew her inside-out and treated her like the individual she was.
Thanks again to all of you. Not just for the exceptional level of care you gave to Nan, but also for making our family so welcome over the years. I'll miss our visits.

Nanna had been a resident at Milton Lodge for around 3 years. Since arriving at Milton Lodge, she had been treated with dignity, respect and affection by all the staff there. We were always made to feel incredibly welcome, especially when arriving with the great-grandchildren in tow. Both the staff
and residents alike always make such a fuss over the little ones. Nan's room was made to be as personal as possible and she loved looking out over The Mount and watching the local children play in the park. Milton Lodge is a historic building and the character has been retained. The outdoor areas are a godsend as they are accessible and safe for both the residents and the children. The home is situated a stone's throw from The Mount and a very short walk from the beach, where we have spent some lovely family days with Nanna. All in all, we could not have had a more positive experience than we have had at Milton Lodge. We are very grateful for how they have loved and cared for Nanna.

Taking my mum to Milton Lodge was my cry for help. I always said no matter what I would look after Mum. But I could not and all the staff at Milton Lodge are my angels. And I tell them all the time.
It's not just a safe caring place for my mum , but for all my family.
My children and myself get
treated with kindness and nothing is too much trouble.
I think I will always be a part of Milton Lodge as they saved me.
To all the staff thank you, please don't ever change.

The staff encouraged my Dad to engage in activities, such as carpet bowls, crafts and dominoes, which he enjoys. Dad is happy, and his care needs are met. I receive regular news articles with pictures of Dad going on outings, such as the Christmas pantomime and trips to the park. The staff take Dad
to the doctors and dentist when required and ensure his medical needs are met. His diabetes is well managed, and I appreciate that Dad would like more biscuits than are good for him, and again, the staff are patient and firm when required. He has recently become double incontinent which has required more personal hygiene care, and again, this has been well managed. Dad feels safe and cared for, he loves his meals and sleeps well; as do I, knowing he is so well cared for.

Mum has been a permanent resident at Milton Lodge since June 2020 and I have been very impressed with the high standard of care shown to her throughout her stay. The manager and staff are always friendly, compassionate and very caring and nothing is too much trouble which gives us peace of mind that
she is being well looked after. Mum especially likes to sing along to the musical entertainment and she thoroughly enjoyed the recent Platinum Jubilee celebrations organised by the staff. I would recommend Milton Lodge to anyone who is considering 24/7 home-from-home residential care for their loved ones.

My mum has been a resident at Milton Lodge for just over a year now. She has settled in very well and is looked after by a very supportive care team. She enjoys her food and has put a little bit of weight on so is thriving. The laundry service is amazing. Mum enjoys the activities that are available
a few days a week and having her hair done weekly. Everytime you go to Milton Lodge you are welcomed and everywhere is very clean. I am very relieved that we chose Milton for Mum's care, there is no doubt she is happy and very comfortable, and has settled into her new family of care. Thank you.

Staff at Milton Lodge are extremely caring towards residents. They make their best efforts to keep the residents happy and are extremely empathetic and kind. They treat them as their own family. My mum resides there and I know she is in the best hands. The girls are wonderful with my mum, you can see
the affection the girls all have for her. My heart broke when we had to put Mum in 24hr care, but I know she is in the lovely care of all staff at Milton Lodge.

My mum moved into Milton Lodge in the middle of December 2021. The staff have been wonderful helping her settle in quickly and caring for her dignity, respect and much laughter. It was a difficult decision for us as a family to make but we have no regrets and the care Mum is receiving is second to none.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.752) out of 10 for Milton Lodge Rest Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.877 for Milton Lodge Rest Home is calculated as follows: ( (160 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 179 Ratings = 4.877
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Milton Lodge Rest Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
