The staff are more confident and appreciate the resident's conditions. Staff know residents and their family by name. A bit more on room facilities and cleaning of them would enhance the resident's experience.

The Old Vicarage has been a wonderful find for my Mother. I was immensely impressed with the manager and her vision for her home and also her way to move it forward was infectious. The 'open door' policy always being met by the wonderful staff with a smile, the T.L.C. of the residents, the fun and camaraderie they create is amazing.

They work hard and often have to deal with challenging behaviour from some of the residents and it is always dealt with with the greatest respect. I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful home to one and all.

My mum has been living here for six months and has settled really well. Staff are lovely and are good to my mum.
The home is lovely and bright as recently decorated, residents were able to pick the colour of their own room door colour, my lovely mum picked yellow.

The home is lovely and clean and always smelling fresh. Happy home happy residents.

When my mother first went to the nursing home the staff were caring but the place smelt of urine and the staff were always changing.
She was in ten months ago but management has changed and it has been decorated and had new carpets down and they get a choice of food and lots of tea and coffee and are encouraged to drink which a lot of old people don't do.

My mother has settled in now and is happy for the most part as she has severe dementia.

My Mum moved to The Old Vicarage Rest Home in April 2017 when her previous care home closed. All my dealings with management, administration and care staff have been excellent. Everyone was concerned, considerate and kind, especially to Mum.

She passed away peacefully at the end of May and her care staff at the end were superb.

The manager and staff here were outstanding with the care of my mother who was here for a 7 week period due to extreme depression. Every time I visited her and took her out I noticed a visible change in her recovery. She can be a difficult person to handle at times, but enjoyed her stay here. Saying she enjoyed being pampered. The food was very much to her liking. I always found all the staff had time to speak with you. Nothing seemed too much trouble.

Review from Sheran D (Daughter of Resident) published on 23 September 2015 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Over the last 3 months I have seen a major improvement in cleanliness of the residents and the home itself. There seems to be an increase in staffing levels contributing to a happier working environment which reflects in the overall well being of the residents.
My only real concern is of the food and drink, whilst it is satisfactory I believe the standard of produce could be improved. This has a direct influence on the value for money aspect of the care.

This all said, I would highly recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone looking for a home that really cares.

Reply from Michele Welch, Regional Manager at The Old Vicarage

Thank you Sheran for your thoughtful review. I am very happy that you feel there have been many improvements. We have developed a new menu to ensure residents have increased choice and control (resident centred ) around meal times and menu choices. We have introduced a wider selection of drinks...

My mother arrived to visit her sister who has been in the care home for some years. Mum who is 91 has recently become confused and on this occasions was having a 'bad day'. The care workers recognised this, took care of her, admitted her and called both the doctor and the social workers. They could not have been more caring. We visited today, she will remain there for at least the next few weeks/months and we are happy she is in such good care.

Reply from Michele Welch, Regional Manager at The Old Vicarage

My step-mother had to be admitted in an emergency due to extreme confusion she experience when visiting her sister. We visited her on the following day and found her extremely happy and content. We witnessed, first hand the quality of the food she was given and the professionalism and kindness of all the staff involved. During the afternoon she joined in with the activities that were provided and really enjoyed the music that was playing. This was only a brief visit but it was the happiest we had seen her for years. I would like to add that the lady who greeted use on arrival made a first class initial impression of the home.
