Mum has been in Rose House 16 months in all the time she has been here I have had no complaints. The staff are very obliging and helpful. She is kept clean and tidy. She has lost weight but continues to be healthy. Three cheers for Rose House staff.

Rose House has the look of a 5* hotel, it is hugely impressive. The staff are committed and very caring. There is a lively atmosphere, residents clearly enjoy each other's company and the activities provided which facilitate this. Our one long standing concern is that in our relative's bedroom there is an unpleasant odour that has not been eliminated and the door to outside hasn't opened as it should for two years. Without these issues I'd give it 100%

Reply from Jo Unwin, Registered Home Manager at Rose House

Thank you for the kind comments. I will speak to the head housekeeper with regards the odour and the door will be unlocked as requested.

My mother Marjorie is being well looked after by all staff. If there are any issues we are notified promptly by phone. Although Marjorie is unaware of where she is, it is comforting to know she is happy, healthy (never even had a cold!!) and safe.

Generally the home (Rose House) is very good.
Points to improve:
Access at weekends is poor, takes ages to gain entry when visiting.

When meals are being served, more attention is required to help clients so food is not spilt on floor or down clothes.

I find the facilities to be very good. My sister always seems to be in a good & happy mood when I visit her. She is well looked after for her age and has never really complained about anything. The only thing I can do: Thank you.

The staff have been so welcoming and made the transition for my mother-in-law so easy. My Mum went into Rose House in November 2024, for respite. Unfortunately due to vascular dementia she is now a permanent resident. As soon as we entered the home my Mum felt at home and we were welcomed warmly. The home is beautiful and so is my Mums room made even more homely by the pictures etc she brought from her bungalow. The staff are caring and attentive , they all work extremely hard to make sure all residents are happy and well care for. It was a difficult decision for all the family but my mum has settled in really well and this is also testament to Rose House. I cannot thank the staff enough for making my Mum feel safe and secure, this has enabled the family to have peace of mind that she is in the best place. With heartfelt thanks. Only one criticism is the wait time for visitors to enter and leave the home especially at weekends, when there is no reception staff and that is when most family are able to see their relatives.

We moved Dad to Rose House towards the end of December and I can honestly say it was the best thing to happen to him of late. The place itself is spotless and so beautifully furnished. There are different areas to go and sit in. Music is on all the time which Dad loves. The staff are just amazing and cannot do enough. There is entertainment and activities on a daily basis and trips out, dad has just been out bowling which he loved. We love the fact that everyone is made to feel special and deserve more than just being left to sit in a chair all day. His bedroom is beautiful and he has his own shower room with toilet. We are so pleased we moved Dad here and cannot thank the staff enough. Dad is a completely new person now.

What can I say, a beautiful, first class home. I won't say residential because, it is my sister's home. She is very well cared for, the staff are very friendly, conscientious and nothing is too much trouble. Although my sister was quite ill over the Christmas period, they occasionally managed to get her to join into the wonderful festivities that had been arranged for the residents and visitors, even if only for a short while. My sister's room and ensuite facilities were cleaned, sometimes more than once a day, and bedding changed everyday due to her illness. Due to their care and cleanliness, my sister is now, once again, back to her normal self, and enjoying the indoor activities and outside visits. My own health and well being has never been so good, knowing that my sister at last is getting the care, help and security that she needs. I would recommend, and do recommend, this beautiful home to all my friends, and also those who are looking for a care home for their friends and families.

I started my career in care; however, I have nursing experience also and moved into a care team leader role, which I held for 5 years before being supported by some fabulous members of management who have helped me in developing my skills and experience, which took me into a Deputy Manager role. I have now been a Deputy Manager in residential care for the past 10 years and am very passionate about my role. I continue to develop my experience and skills and am currently completing a diploma level with the aim of progressing my career in the future and managing a care home of my own.

I take huge pride in ensuring person-centred care for all residents and supporting the care team in rolling that care out across the home.

With over six years of experience in the care home sector and additional background in home care, I’ve built a career rooted in compassion, dignity, and a deep commitment to improving lives. My journey into care began at a young age, inspired by a personal experience—when my brother’s accident left him paralysed, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of high-quality, person-centred support.

Since then, I’ve progressed through a variety of roles, including care assistant, activities coordinator, senior carer, unit manager, and now deputy manager. This path has given me a comprehensive understanding of care home life—from hands-on support to team leadership and strategic oversight. I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care, along with specialist qualifications in medication management and end-of-life care.

For me, care is more than a profession—it’s a vocation. I’m proud to be part of a team that puts people first, and I remain passionate about making a meaningful difference every single day

My career in administration has touched various departments and industries over the past 22 years, having supported company directors in a personal assistant role and worked in human resources. I have experience in supporting different areas of a business and am able to transfer that experience into my role at Rose House and support all areas of the home as required.

I started working for Runwood Homes in August 2023 for one of our sister homes, Liberty House and moved over to Rose House as part of the commissioning team when Rose House first opened. I really enjoy my role working as an administrator and supporting the families and residents in any way that I can.

I’m originally from Glasgow and moved to Doncaster in November 2025. I joined the team here in February 2026 as the Maintenance Operative, where I help keep the home safe, comfortable, and running smoothly for everyone.

Before moving to Doncaster, I worked as a Facilities Manager at a special needs school supporting children with Cerebral Palsy and other brain-related conditions. That role taught me the importance of maintaining a safe, reliable, and supportive environment for people who depend on the place where they live or learn.

I enjoy fixing things, solving problems, and helping wherever I can around the home. It’s important to me that residents feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for in their surroundings.

I have gained over 10 years of valuable experience working in a variety of administrative environments, which has enabled me to develop excellent organisational, communication, customer service, and administrative skills. Throughout my career, I have become highly proficient in managing busy workloads, coordinating schedules, maintaining accurate records, handling confidential information, and providing professional support to colleagues, clients, and visitors. My ability to multitask, prioritise responsibilities, and remain calm under pressure has allowed me to consistently contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the organisations I have worked for.

In my current role at Rose House, I take great pride in being part of a caring, compassionate, and dedicated team that is committed to providing a high standard of support and service. As the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors, and external professionals, I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and professional reception environment. I understand the importance of empathy, patience, and effective communication when supporting residents and their loved ones, particularly during challenging times.

I find it incredibly rewarding to assist residents and their families, ensuring they feel valued, respected, and supported. Alongside my reception duties, I play an important role in maintaining the smooth day-to-day running of the home by managing enquiries, coordinating appointments, supporting administrative processes, and liaising with various departments. I am passionate about delivering excellent customer service and take satisfaction in contributing to a positive experience for everyone who enters Rose House.
