Staff are generally very welcoming and willing and happy to speak to visitors. Seem to interact well with residents during family visits. Not enough information regarding activities given to family, maybe a month or bi-monthly newsletter keeping families up to date with these things could be an idea.

My nan has recently moved into Rowena House, and although we are going through a difficult time during this pandemic, we have been made welcome, and our minds have been put at ease. The manager and the staff have made me, my family and my nan change our views on care homes during this pandemic. The
manager is very attentive and is more than happy to answer any questions I've had to ask when I call. We understand, as a family, that it is very difficult to have a cuddle with my nan, and we enjoy our pod visits and our FaceTime calls. I would like to thank every single staff member at Rowena House.

When my mother went into Rowena House in March 2020 we were very worried about her physical health. Since she has been there she has been looked after extremely well, has a lovely room, is eating regularly and has begun to socialise again. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff, they are fantastic
to all the residents, being unfailingly kind and helpful and going above and beyond a usual carer/resident relationship as they create a happy family atmosphere.
The day my mother went to Rowena House was the day lockdown started and this obviously posed difficulties for her and for the care home, but there has been special care during this time when residents have been isolated from their families and the staff are excellent at keeping families up-to-date about their loved ones.
We visited 5 care homes when looking for one for my mother and we knew instantly when we visited Rowena House that it “felt right” - we were correct as it is a lovely environment where she is happy and thriving.

Before Mum came into Rowena she was getting very depressed, eating very little, sleeping until late afternoon and very immobile. Since coming into Rowena, she has become a different person. Her walking has improved a lot, she has lots of friends there who she interacts with, she's eating three meals
a day and the staff are absolutely brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. She has got a new lease of life.

I don't live near to the care home so only got a chance to visit once or twice over the past four months. Nan seemed happy and content when I visited her for her birthday.
She was less agitated and was praising the care home and the staff.
She mostly enjoys having a cigarette, so being allowed them
makes her happy and less anxious.
I noticed a massive difference in her.

My mum is in Rowena House, Conisbrough. I visit most days and feel the care home has a very friendly feel about it.
Mum has settled in really well and has said on many occasions she wishes she had gone in earlier.
The staff are amazing and treat residents with the respect and dignity they deserve.

My daughter arranged for me to reside here at Rowena. I didn't think I would like it. It took me a couple of weeks to settle in and now I love it here. I can have a laugh and a bit of fun with the staff and I feel very well looked after and very safe as I don't like the dark and was frightened of living
by myself.
I have a lovely room with all my photos and a large TV.
The staff are lovely and allow me to smoke outside.
The food is lovely and my daughter takes me out.

My nana has been in Rowena since July this year. I visit most weeks with my stepdaughter who is two years of age.
Nana loves children and it's nice to see her happy.
Nana has a good relationship with the staff and is happy and content. She always takes me to see her room and is proud of her own space.
Nana is happy and well cared for, which makes me very happy - as my mum was looking after her but could no longer manage.

I am the next door neighbour of a resident at Rowena House. I have known and lived next to her for 35 years. I watched her deteriorate over the last 5 years or so.
She would go out looking for kids (her grandkids who are now grown up) at all times of the day and night. I have visited her three or four
times and can't believe the change in her or how nice the home is.
I enjoy seeing her relate to staff in a comfortable manner. She looks better than she has for years.

With so much bad press on the television and in newspapers I felt a little frightened on my first visit to Rowena (my own Gran had been in a home, which I really disliked). From stepping through the door I knew straight away it was a lovely place. All the staff were smiling, some were singing. Residents
looked happy and cared for. My friend, who doesn't mix very well looked happy and relaxed. She constantly spoke of the staff in a good way. Was fabulous watching her so happy and content.

Hi, my name is Vickie, I have worked in care for just over 20 years, I first started in care after caring for my Nan, after she had passed away I realised not everyone was in a position to care for their loved ones and I wanted them to feel reassured that I would look after them like I looked after my Nan.


I have three children, twin boys now 29, and a daughter now 19, and four grandsons, who are the lights of my life, I even delivered one of them, (so I could be a midwife too).


My hobbies are reading, days in the countryside relaxing, and spending time with my grandsons and family.


I have been with Runwood for nearly two years, and I love the family feel of Rowena House.

I’m proud to have been recognised as the IPC (Infection Prevention and Control) champion by the local authority for two consecutive years—a testament to my commitment to maintaining high standards. Beyond my work, I’m known for my knack for faffing, titivating, and decorating, adding a touch of flair to every corner of the house.


Fun fact: I can speak in an impressively deep voice, which never fails to surprise and entertain those around me!
