Cotleigh has 62 large, en-suite bedrooms, each with a shower. Residents are encouraged to make their rooms feel like home by adding personal touches like photos, ornaments, or a small sofa. The hallways are spacious, and there are plenty of shared areas, all nicely decorated, with ongoing updates.

The dining areas have a personal feel, shaped by residents and staff. There is also a bar where residents can enjoy drinks, games, and singalongs, and families can reserve it for private meals or celebrations. They recently added a games room with a high-tech table, board games, and a reading corner. The tea room hosts monthly afternoon teas, and families can book it for gatherings.

The garden has ample seating, including shaded areas, and features a cocktail bar. They host themed events like a garden party, Alice in Wonderland, and country nights for residents, families, and the community.

Residents enjoy twice-weekly “music to movement” classes, visits from miniature ponies, singers, and outings to places like Yorkshire Wildlife Park, the beach, and local pubs.

There is a hair and beauty salon for hair and nail appointments, with a hairdresser visiting weekly, plus a jacuzzi bath for relaxing. A doctor visits weekly, and they coordinate health services like chiropody and dental care.

Meals are homemade, with residents helping to choose the menu. Favourites include fish and chips, pies, and ginger biscuits. The kitchen team also provide nourishing soups and milkshakes for those needing extra nutrition.

Residents have freedom here—they can move around, eat, and go out as they like. Afternoon tea party!
Lovely food with entertainment. So nice for the residents to have these afternoons. Special times spent with my mum. Memories to keep.
The room beautifully set out with small tables and chairs. Food beautifully presented.

A friendly, caring place to call home. Always clean and decorated to a high standard. Staff are great with guests and visitors. My mum has gained weight and is happy, so meals must be good! Special events are celebrated throughout the year. At this time, Christmas is the theme. The reception is spectacular
and very much in the Christmas spirit. All staff are very helpful when I visit and go out of their way to assist with any questions I have.

My sister and I visited on 26th November to see our mum. We were greeted by 4 elves, mother Christmas and Father Christmas. Needless to say, we were not expecting that! The staff and volunteers here go the extra mile to make the residents comfy, safe and well looked after. This in turn means as relatives
we feel that Cotleigh provides all we would want it to. Special thanks go to the staff and the volunteers who have made the place a magical grotto. Please consider rewarding your staff accordingly.

I visit my best friend of fifty-four years on average twice per week. My own father was a resident here for three years until his death hence I am therefore very familiar with this home. I also have experience over lengthy periods of regularly visiting three other homes in respect of my mother, mother-in-law
and sister-in-law. Of the four homes concerned, this one is, in varying degrees, by far the best. My friend and I have discussed every aspect of the home as listed in the ratings hence the ratings marked. He repeatedly informs me how happy and content he is at the home and continually praises the staff for how well they take care of him.

My mother-in-law has been at Cotleigh Care Home since October 2018 until October 2022. When she passed away, during her time at Cotleigh, she was happy, enjoyed all the activities, especially singing and dancing, loved by all the staff. Cannot fault the quality of care that Mum had during the last four
years, especially through Covid as well.

Admin staff are very helpful and care staff do a great job in testing circumstances.
Shortage of staff will always be an issue and I sometimes wish carers would sit with residents and communicate more often in lieu of sitting and looking at their mobile phones. This is not the case in most staff.

My mum has been at Cotleigh Care Home for a number of years and I can not thank the staff enough for the care and help she is given. We are kept informed of any health problems she has. She is happy at Cotleigh. All the family know she is in a safe and happy home and we appreciate all they have done
for her.

When we realised that Mum needed residential care we looked at reviews and found Cotleigh Care Home had very favourable ones. Since she has been in, Cotleigh has lived up to those reviews. Care has been excellent. We have been kept up with any developments. Mum has enjoyed outings and activities. There
are seasonal displays for example the current Halloween offerings are superb.

Our experience of Cotleigh Care Home has been excellent. The care and compassion for individual needs are exemplary and have been a real comfort.

Mum has stayed twice for respite, both times she has come home happy and said she enjoyed her stay. She says everyone is lovely and has made friends both times she was there. The staff all seem lovely and friendly.
Her room was nice and comfortable. She said she enjoyed the food also. Overall, Mum
was looked after and I would use again and recommend.
I can't comment on some of the ratings as I didn't spend a lot of time in the home and Mum can't remember.

My wife and I visit her mother at Cotleigh Care Home at least once a week for about 90 minutes on average. We are very pleased with her care at Cotleigh and know she is safe and well looked after. Other members of the family visit regularly as well and feel the same. Any questions we might need to ask
staff are dealt with and answered professionally and to our satisfaction.
There are failings in the wider care system that impact on all our care homes. In the immediate future, the Government and the Department of Health and Social Care need to act to reward the carers and other health and care staff, raise the profile of the profession and recruit more. Reward, those on the front line delivering quality care currently and then set about recruiting training and (long term) retain more who might be suitable for a career in care.

My mum has been in Cotleigh Care Home for two years and I have nothing but praise for the staff involved. They keep you updated on everything that's happening. It is a very friendly place and they organise lots of activities for the residents. I know my mum is safe there.

I would just like to say on behalf of myself and my husband if it was not for Cotleigh Care Home and the amazing care that Cotleigh provides, we would not know what to do. The management and staff are all truly amazing. We have peace of mind knowing our mum is cared for in this truly and beautiful care
home. And from the first day we went to view Cotleigh, we know in our hearts it was the best home for our mum as hard as it was for me as a daughter. I know my mum would have the best care. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

My mother in law was admitted into Cotleigh care home roughly seven weeks ago.
She has dementia and was not capable of living on her own due to safety reasons, apart from her confusion she was well and fit.
She had a fall at the beginning of July 2021 which was in the garden area. Nobody knew she
was outside, their response was they are allowed to go out but also the gates are left open for her to wander further. It's worrying knowing how far she could have gone and the staff not knowing she was outside.
Second fall 17 July 2021, they don't know how it was done and she had to go to A&E with severe head injuries. Now any person in their right mind would put some safeguarding in to protect her, but having spoken to the manager apparently, they don't because they don't know how she'd got these injuries.
Third fall 3rd August, she was found on the floor in her bedroom when they went in to wake her, we were notified at 07:45 am and again taken to hospital. Her injuries were that she had broken her hip.

I am not surprised in seeing no reviews on this care home. As I've been treated diabolically as a loved one's relative, that I can only assume that others like me have been intimidated so badly that they have only wanted a quiet life, from these unprofessional people that they dare not leave a review
in fear that their life will be made miserable, by having a voice for their loved ones, just like mine has been made! I can't believe this place keeps getting away with it.
No empathy, no compassion, and always on the defensive to everything and everyone!
I really could go on!
But all I would want to say is that this is the last place I would place my loved ones!
And that I wouldn't want anyone to go through what myself and my lovely poor mum has had to endure from this place. God forbid you don't ask any questions, or have any concerns because rather than deal with it, they would rather try and throw your mum out by trying to say they can't meet her needs anymore.
