We have found that all the staff are fantastic and very caring with residents and visitors alike. Very friendly and helpful, the manageress, there's nothing that is too much trouble for her. She must be one of the best managers in your industry.

I visit my cousin along with my wife on a weekly basis. We had visited her in her home prior to her going to live in Norton Lees Hall and had noticed her gradual declining over the last months of her living alone. It is good to see her so happy and content and to witness the care she receives from all
staff. They have an excellent rapport with her and we can see they understand her.

My sister is looked after very well. She was reluctant to join in and mix at first but has now settled in. I feel better knowing she is being cared for. The staff are very friendly and helpful. I have visited many homes and this is by far the best.

Our experience has been a very good one. From visiting to find a place for our mum to present day (10 months) we cannot find anything negative. The whole team are wonderful. They are all very caring, friendly, helpful, approachable and professional.
Our mum is settled and content. We cannot thank them
enough for giving us peace of mind.

The people there were very patient with my husband, saw to his every need with him being blind, did not get nasty with him when he didn't want to get out of bed. Made sure he was bathed and looked clean, in all they were as I say very good and my husband says he would like to go there again.

I was lucky enough to get my aunt into Norton Lees Hall in July 2015. It is a very well run and cared for home, very clean and the staff are all wonderful with the patients. There is a doctor who calls into the home twice a week on a regular basis and also attends if anyone is needing attention in between
those calls. I call to see my aunt any time of the day, morning, afternoon and evening and it is never any different, always friendly and very attentive to patients and visitors are the staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. My aunt tells me that the meals are all very nice and she really enjoys them always leaving a clean plate. She is amazed that when she gets out of bed at night one of the carers is with her almost immediately. She doesn't understand that the little carpet she stands on sets a buzzer off to alert the staff she is out of bed. Fabulous!!

Current Review Score: 6.4 (6.424)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 6.4 (6.424) out of 10 for Norton Lees Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 2.986 for Norton Lees Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (22 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 2.986
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.438 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norton Lees Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.188
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
