The Review Score of 9.9 (maximum of 10) for Abbeydale is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Abbeydale in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.947 for Abbeydale is calculated as follows: ( (124 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 131 Ratings = 4.947
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Abbeydale is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:
3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4
Target of 7.2 positive Reviews (36 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 11 Reviews ÷ 7.2 Target Reached = 1
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My aunt stayed at Abbeydale in Ilkley to recuperate. Ten days earlier she had been rushed into hospital as an emergency case with severe abdominal pains and although the medical problems were sorted out there, when the time came to leave, she was not strong enough to return home. Abbeydale has been her salvation as when discharged, she needed round the clock care. The kindness and patience of the staff, the excellent food and activities available have done the trick and she is stronger and bright again. I have no hesitation in recommending Abbeydale as a place of comfort and caring.

At 93-years-old my aunt came to Abbeydale after a brief spell in hospital.
Having lived independently I was worried how she would adjust to living in the home but after a month she has found herself enjoying watching television in the evenings with the other residents and even joined in a couple of the activities.
To say I have been surprised would be an understatement but the staff are a delight, not pushy, just encouraging. The other main revelation has been the food. Oh my goodness, it is good.
I tend to pop up at supper time and there always seems to be an extra pudding with my name on it. My aunt likes to eat in her room so it is lovely that we can have a cup of tea and a pudding together.

Abbeydale is a very smart, well furnished and well-decorated home with all the finishing touches one would have in one's own home.
The food is exceptional considering the demands of differing tastes and needs - all freshly cooked with a good choice and not repetitive. The gardens are well kept and colourful and there are various activities that take place. Most importantly, however, is the staff. They are all, from the maintenance, the kitchen and housekeeping teams to the care staff, engaging, friendly and truly caring.

The Staff and Management at Abbeydale really do 'care'
It's a very big step to move an elderly relative out of a lifetime home but here she was welcomed into a new home and gained a new family. The standard of service including food and care is extremely high with a knowledgeable and passionate management team.

On Christmas day I had lunch here with my mum among staff as elves and Santa's who made this special day even more special for my mum on this occasion and for me too.
I refer to them as Angels of Abbeydale. My mum has been here 10+ years and is treated as if family. Which is reassuring and comforting to my mum and family.
Thank you so much.

Having visited many care homes, I know how outstanding Abbeydale is. It is welcoming, clean, fresh smelling and very smartly and comfortably furnished. The care provided for my very elderly and frail mother is exceptional and the staff are all so pleasant and attentive to the residents. The food provided is excellent with plenty of choice. The minibus takes residents on regular outings and entertainment is provided both in-house and by many visiting experts eg art classes, exercise, quizzes, games, singing etc. A warm and homely atmosphere pervades Abbeydale - there is nowhere like it!

I visit a friend on a weekly basis. The staff at Abbeydale are incredibly welcoming, polite, helpful and very pro-active. My friend struggled to leave her home and move into a home but she has been made so welcome looked after to a very high standard and has settled in and praises all the staff commenting they cannot do enough for her and she feels very privileged to be in Abbeydale. We are all delighted.

My mother has been a resident in Abbeydale for six months and we have been very happy with the excellent care at Abbeydale.
All staff are caring and friendly. The home is spotless and the ambience and food are first class.
It is more like a small hotel than a care home.

The care is truly outstanding at Abbeydale.
I have other relatives in care homes in Cornwall and Leicester and I have seen the quality there in great depth.
They got an outstanding and good rating in their recent inspection and could learn a great deal from the excellence at Abbeydale.
Mum is very, very happy at Abbeydale.
