Norton house cared for my mum for 3 years. She was so happy with them, and it was such a relief for us to know she was safe, happy and cared for. The staff are so kind and thoughtful. I wish to book a room for my own care in a few decades time.
Reply from Jillie-Jo Carver, Registered Manager at Norton HouseThank you for such a lovely endorsement of our home, it's lovely to hear how happy you were with mum's care and that you would also like to come and stay yourself in the (distant!) future.

Ruth absolutely loves Norton house care home. She is really happy and is looked after. All the staff are so welcoming and friendly. We love being able to yake our dog as it makes Ruth's ad the other residents day.Norton house care home is the most perfect place and would recommend to any family.

We moved my " surrogate" mum in August this year after a bad experience in another care home. We came across Norton house, quite accidently and nearly missed out. Pure fate made sure that Ruth got a place here and we are so thankful. I don't think anything I write will be enough, because they are more
than excellent. I can't honestly recommend them enough. They are attentive and compassionate and the most caring people. Not once have I worried about how Ruth is, because I know they treat her like family and give their all! Other homes should take note and work to the high standard NH do!
Thank you so much for all that you for all the residents. Your making a difficult time so much easier and we feel truly blessed to have you be part of Ruth's journey.
You deserve all the recognition you get.
Reply from Jillie-Jo Carver, Registered Manager at Norton HouseThank you for leaving such a lovely and thoughtful review about our home. It's lovely to hear that you're so happy with the care that she is receiving from our lovely team and we will pass your feedback onto them.

My Mother was very happy in Norton House Care Home, and at no time did I have any concern over her care, quite the opposite in fact. The care and attention she received was outstanding; there was no doubt the staff knew her very well, all her little idiosyncrasies which they accommodated with grace,
dignity and humour. The communication with me, her son, was excellent, with regular care plans to review and comment on and phone calls when needed. At every visit, the staff greet you with a warm welcome and have time to discuss anythingv you need to be aware of or wish to discuss. They mirror the high standards set by Oliver, Jillie-Jo and Ruth in this home. The response to the COVID pandemic just illustrated the professionalism, with a heart, of this team in the face of a real challenge as they put residents first. My family and I consider it a blessing that, as care was needed, Mum lived her final years at Norton House, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.
Reply from Jillie-Jo Carver, Registered Manager at Norton HouseThank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review. We are so pleased to hear that mum was happy here, that you felt confident in the team and reassured by the care she received. It was a privilege to care for mum. Thank you for placing your trust in us to care for her, it means a lot.

I live 60 miles away and cannot visit as often as I would like but it brings me so much joy to see how happy and settled she is. She will be 93 in April and I haven't seen her look so well for ages. The staff are always friendly and supportive and they are also on social media so I get to see her playing
games and enjoying excursions. The house is lovely and beautifully decorated and spotless. I know they are going to give the residents a great Christmas and can't wait to see them on social media. Well done to all the staff.

Mum has only been here since the beginning of July but in that time she has become one of the Norton House Family. Mum has Alzheimer's and so unfortunately I had to make the decision for her to go in a Care Home as she wasn't able to look after herself properly and I think I made the right choice.
Because Norton House is a small Care Home, the staff work hard but still have time to spend with the residents, they are so friendly and careing, with plenty smiles and hugs for anyone that might be needing one that particular day. The food is good, lots of activities to keep everyone occupied and mum is no longer lonely. Unfortunately because of the nature of her disease she doesn't remember a lot of what she has been doing, but I know she is living her best life and have no worries recommending Norton House to anyone looking for somewhere to place their loved one.
Reply from Jillie-Jo Carver, Registered Manager at Norton HouseThank you so much for your lovely words. We know how big a decision it is to choose a care home, and we're so glad you feel reassured that Olivia is happy and settled here with us. She really is our little superstar, always up for a social media dance, joining in with every activity, and bringing a smile to everyone's face. We absolutely adore having her as part of our Norton House family.

Genuinely amazing!

My grandma had been living at home alone with carers going in, but it got to a point where that wasn't manageable anymore for anyone.

Norton House were welcoming and accommodating from the off.

The thing that I personally liked the most though was how straight forward they

felt, no pushy sales pitch, no promising the world, which was refreshing in the middle of running around care homes and trying to get a solution together.

Also there were (and are now) a few rooms being refurbished, which was nice to see.

The whole building has nice homely feel to it, not clinical.

My grandma raves about the food and staff, and her quality of life is night and day from how she was at home from my point of view and hers.

I can even visit with my grandmas dog too.

Its obvious the staff genuinely care about what they do and why they do it.

Reply from Jillie-Jo Carver, Registered Manager at Norton HouseThank you so much for your kind and thoughtful words. We're so pleased with how well grandma has settled in and she really is a treasured part of the family. It means a lot to us that you noticed the little things we try to do to make life feel homely and welcoming, and that your grandma is enjoying the food, company, and atmosphere. It really is the best feedback we could hope for. Thank you!

She has been with Norton House for 2 years, and has been so very well looked after. The staff are so caring and loving and have made her feel very special as a valued resident. The home is a pleasure to visit and we are always offered a drink and a smile. Her needs and safeguarding are very well met.
The staff, systems and support network appear very well thought out, and give confidence that her health and welfare needs are continually being assessed and delivered. Her room and the communal areas are always clean and recent refurbishments have resulted in high quality communal living space.
We know that she is in very good hands and fully enjoys her Norton House experience in all respects.

The staff at Norton House are really excellent. And I think that's what makes the home so special. Everyone is kind, caring and they go the extra mile for the residents, however challenging their needs. And always with a smile. The home itself is well kept, with a beautiful new extension and living
areas for the residents to sit and socialise, together or with relatives. As a family we have real peace of mind that my Dad is well cared for and happy at Norton House. I recommend the home highly!

I can't rate Norton House highly enough. They take time and effort to get to know each resident individually and care so much about their welfare. It's more like being part of a family. I can visit my mum and enjoy our time together without the worries I had before she went into Norton House. She is
so well looked after by such a friendly and caring team. All the rooms are kept clean and tidy and nothing is too much trouble. I am also kept well informed of how my Mum is doing.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.878) out of 10 for Norton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Norton House is calculated as follows: ( (231 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 262 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norton House is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
