The staff at Norton House are always so pleasant and helpful, although at times they do seem short-staffed.
I know time is spent chatting with my Aunty when possible which I appreciate as the more stimulus and sensible conversation she has will help her mental health and keep her awareness.

The staff are absolutely amazing there. Always there on hand to help and to tell us to allow them to care for my grandpa. Grandpa is soo much better since moving there and is having a better life. There is always staff around offering tea, coffee and biscuits. Nothing is too small for the staff to do,
and they will always find a way to help if there isn't something already there to help with a situation. Norton House is a little bit dated, but the owner is currently doing it up, and the work, so far, looks great. Was very unsure about moving grandpa into a care home, but since he moved there, I have had no doubts whatsoever. I wish every care home could be like that. Norton House is absolutely outstanding.

My grandpa has been here for over a month now, and I am very pleased with the way the home is run. The staff are so friendly and helpful. My grandpa has everything he needs, and all the residents seem happy when we visit. Very well run and has lovely staff, who make you feel very welcome. The home is
undergoing some renovations, and this is being managed very well with minimal disturbances caused. Thank you, and couldn't recommend this home enough!

My mother-in-law stayed at Norton House for eight days of respite.
I have to say the staff are absolutely fantastic. My mother looked so clean and was visibly very happy whilst staying there. She made lots of new friends and seemed to form good relationships with the staff. The food always looked and
smelt great and there were constant refreshments being offered every time we visited. The staff team are all very good with all residents and can't seem to do enough. It was nice to actually meet the manager and see she got stuck in too!
Overall we are extremely happy with the care our mother received and most certainly will be booking at Norton House again in the future.

I have been a regular visitor to Norton House for a few years now and I absolutely love going in to see the ladies and gentlemen. The staff and management are all wonderful and very caring and patient, as well as very professional and very hard working. The food always looks and smells delicious too.
I do think that some areas of the home may need a little updating however it's still a lovely clean and cosy place to visit. The activities, including hairdressing and regular singing and dancing, with the ladies and gents, are wonderful to see and hear as well as playing on the piano. Overall it is a brilliant home and every member of staff is brilliant.

A high standard of care and attention to detail. Although Norton House is in need of improvements in decor and bedroom/communal area facilities, this is more than made up by the positive attitude and care shown by the staff.

My gran has been staying here for a few months now, and I have to say I cannot praise the home enough. The staff and management are just wonderful, and it really feels like they are going the extra mile to make sure everyone feels included and valued. The kind words of the staff have helped my gran
get through some difficult experiences, and I am very grateful for this, especially as none of the family could be there for her at this time.

I've been very impressed and reassured by the staff especially but also the facilities. I especially appreciate the games that we can play in the conservatory or the quiet room. My friend is always content and happy when I visit and the staff are always so welcoming of any and all visitors! The toilets
are always clean and my friend's room is always tidy.

It was my mums birthday in February but unfortunately, the care home had gone into lockdown again. However, after a phone call and a shopping trip, I delivered some party food and the caters went all out to put on a birthday party and dancing that lasted into the evening. Caters are paid to do a job
but the carers at Norton House really do make a difference!
Outstanding on a different level.

Norton House is a lovely home. My mother resides there and she's very comfortable. The staff is very efficient, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is excellent even though my mother doesn't eat too much, she enjoys what she eats. The home itself is very tastefully decorated and it's
homely. I wouldn't want my mum to be staying anywhere else and l don't worry about the care she's getting as nothing is too much trouble for the staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Norton House to anyone.

Mum spent four months in Norton House in Elland and she loved her time there. The staff were very attentive and Mum enjoyed the laughs she had with the staff! It was good that we were able to window visit even during lockdown and the indoor visit felt very safe. Thank you.

I do not feel like I can give a full review. I visit my mother once a week if possible usually around 6pm. At this time the residents appear to be in the TV room, telly blasting out and no carers in view. They are usually in the dining room. Residents have asked me on numerous occasions to find a carer.
There are no activities at this time of day. My mother is often in someone else's clothes, even though hers have her name in them.

It is always a worry when looking for a home for your Mother, you worry about how they will be treated when no one's looking. Will they be happy, what will be the atmosphere in the home be like?
I needed not to have worried - I can not imagine a more caring, friendly home. The owners and staff are
superb, thoughtful, helpful and caring - I cannot praise them enough. They give me peace of mind that my mother is being we cared for in her twilight years.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.878)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.878) out of 10 for Norton House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 22 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.878 for Norton House is calculated as follows: ( (231 Excellents x 5) + (30 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 262 Ratings = 4.878
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Norton House is based on 22 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 22 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
