My mother is in Aden View, initially a discharge from hospital in April 2020, then a longer stay for full assessment of her needs. This review is taking place during Covid-19, so I have not been able to visit my mother in the home. It is based on my interactions with staff and comments from my mother. My mother is not easy to please and is not shy to make her views known!

The manager and her staff had to be our fathers family in his final days. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
Taking and caring for him when we, his family, could not be there for him. Never felt I was pestering when ringing up to see how dad was doing. We were able to see dad on video link. He was in his room getting cared for with lovely classical music playing.
The manager said she would sort out the undertaker when the time came. When that call came the staff were so caring and were checking to see if I was alright. Before she went off shift the lady staff member called back to see if I was doing okay and to say the undertaker had come to take dad.
Aden View was dad's home for nearly 6 years. 6 happy years. It’s a happy home full of fun. Dad was very happy and settled.
Covid 19 the deadly virus meant we couldn’t be with dad, but never once over the past week think dad was not getting care his family wanted.

The manager and your staff thank you for taking care of our dad.

Although I have not been able to visit my aunt at Aden View during the period she has been there, because the last five weeks have coincided with the Coronavirus lockdown period, I would like to say thank you to all the staff I have spoken to on the telephone.

They have always been very polite and courteous, and of course, very professional. This is just a general impression I have received from speaking with them. They have been quick to pass the telephone on to my aunt, emphasizing always that this was no trouble. They were always prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that family members were able to keep in contact with my aunt during this difficult period. The Manager has been very polite and kind, and I am sure that the empathy they have shown in my telephone conversations with them, is reflected in the high level of care and compassion they give to their residents. Thank you once again for doing such a good job. Excellent staff and management.

Mum really likes spending time at Aden View.

The manager is very motivated and this shows across all aspects of the home. The staff are kind and attentive, the routine in the home is engaging for its clients. The home is being renovated and the renovations are being done to a great standard. Dad breathed a sigh of relief when I told him mum was going to Aden View.

Dad has only been at Aden View for a short time but has settled in well and he enjoys talking to the staff, likes his room and is very happy with the full English breakfast and plentiful cups of tea!

As a family, we are always made welcome and any concerns are immediately dealt with.

The difference the staff have made to my mother's life is wonderful. I can't thank them enough. I myself was a carer for over thirty years and I know it is a thankless job but this place I feel is outstanding.

My mum has been in Aden View since the beginning of September 2019, and from our very first visit to view the home and every subsequent visit all the staff have been nothing but friendly and show all the residents both respect and care. It's good to see mum being so well looked after both in terms of meals and her personal appearance. Mum has been diagnosed with dementia, and even though it is advancing the care that the home is giving hasn't diminished. All of the family that have visited mum have commented about how friendly the staff were with them.

Both my parents are in Aden View they have been there for 2 years they are really well cared for any problem with them they ring straight away.

The staff are all really welcoming and are happy to help and provide any information you ask. I didn't want them to go into a care home was really anxious but now I have peace of mind they are so well looked after and cared for.

Nothing seems too much trouble for the staff including the management. My 91-year-old mother was put at ease at once she now has no fear or troubles from the past. The staff seem happy and content with their place of work and this transfers to the guests.

12 months ago I had the hardest decision to make about putting mum into care after weeks of searching I placed her in Aden View. Mum has dementia so was placed on the dementia side of the care home. The staff are fantastic nothing too much trouble for them always make you feel welcome always keep you updated about mum when I visit.

Her great-grandchildren love to visit as there is so much fin in the room with singing, dancing and activities not forgetting office and managers who are fantastic. Keep it up you are all doing great.

The new manager is very pleasant and approachable. She seems very caring and appears to enjoy her work. All the staff appear friendly. My dad is still relatively new to the home and finds it difficult to socialise however, the staff are aware and do try to coax him. I am hoping in time dad will eat with the residents and start to mix.

My Mum has been a member of the Aden View family for just over two years. I visit her most days and have got to know all of the residents and staff through this time. I like to spend lunchtime with Mum, the food is tasty and well presented. The care and other support staff are always welcoming and supportive to me, and I can always tell that Mum is well looked after. I also have a little chat with other residents when I visit, and everyone has a smile for me, they are lovely people. The atmosphere is one of calm and the lounge feels comfortable. The care team do what they can to keep everyone happy. There are sometimes organised entertainers, and the staff also get involved with adhoc singing and dancing, or ball games, which go down well.

When I've had concerns, the manager has always acted promptly and I have felt reassured. The home is not standing still and I can see good changes happening - some redecoration and using a wireless speaker for music.

Friendly, caring staff.
They gave my grandad reassurance when he thought he had lost his glasses but the had gone for repair.

All staff in the home, including domestic staff, knew about the new, red bag policy and were able to explain it in detail to us.

Before my father entered Aden View for 4 weeks of respite he kept himself to himself and was not very sociable, but with the staff and residents being so friendly it really brought him round. It has been a while since we have seen him so happy.

Overall Experience
The manager and staff team at Aden View are outstanding in the care they provide.
They have been first rate in their handling of a recent serious health issue that led to my mother being admitted to hospital. They recognised when she was becoming unwell and acted with urgency and professionalism. They also worked extremely hard to enable her to be discharged from hospital as early as possible as my mother just 'wanted to go home' where she feels safe and cared for.
The Aden View team have also worked extremely hard with my mother and all family members to help my mother in her desired goal to lose weight. The whole team and particularly the kitchen staff have been amazing in their commitment and person centred approach including individualised menu planning,
Communication between the manager, staff team, residents and family members is first rate and I always feel reassured that any worries can be discussed and will be acted upon.

An excellent care home!
