Longroyds & Pilling is situated in 3 acres of parkland, up a sweeping driveway. Separated into two homes, boasting the ambiance of old world charm. There are independent living apartments beside the home, which offer close care for those who are not yet ready for a 24 hour care environment, but with the peace of mind of having help when needed.

Carers offer residents and their families the support they need during what many find some of the most trying times of their lives. Families are truly grateful for the personal support they receive, when faced with one of life's very difficult decisions and carers pride themselves on continuing that support to residents and their families from the moment they contact throughout the whole of their stay.

The approach to care is simple - look after the person and not the ailment/condition alone - Carers want to get to know their residents and their families, thus enabling them to look after the whole person and not just to concentrate on the task in hand. Staff get to know their clients, who they are, who they were and how they have come to be at the home. Carers get to know their families too and like to understand the dynamics within the family setting and how best they can support these as they build a relationship of trust. They understand that choosing a care home is not just about excellent amenities, but about a true and real understanding of relationships being nurtured, trust being built and a life being lived. Professionals believe in true, real and honest care and keep this at the heart of their approach.

We have family in Pilling House, she has been there since February 2025 and in all that time the care, professionalism, kindness and support everyone at Pilling House Care Home has given her and our family has been second to none.
Its a big decision when placing a loved one in a care home, you hear
so many horror stories, but then you find an 'amazing one' like Pilling House and count ourselves very lucky indeed.
They are so caring and get to know their residents so well, all their needs are taken care of and any medical issues that may arise, again they are on top of things - we cannot thank Pilling House enough for all their continued hard work and kind dedication they show. Its not just the resident that moves in, so do families (not literally).
On asking my relative out of 10 what would she give her new home, without a pause, she said 10 out of 10, we can't say more than that. Keep up the fabulous work you all continue to do. xx
Reply from Tracy Keenan, Home manager at Longroyds & Pilling House Care HomeJust wow, what a fabulously kind review, and we are so very grateful for the support you show us all the time, from standing on stalls and making things for us, it is absolutely our pleasure looking after your Aunt, and we love having you in the home, especially when you bring us little people to coo over, looking forward to the seaside trip, from all the team at L&P xx

An amazing team of staff. Everyone is caring, thoughtful and bring a sense of fun towards the residents. The activities co-ordinator organises a varied programme with visits from singers, local school, animals etc. They are taken out on visits and have celebrations of events as well as birthdays. The
staff know the residents so they receive the stimulus they need. My mother enjoys quiet times but also loves to dance and staff engage with her to take part in dancing and listening to music. Relatives are welcomed in and have plenty of opportunities to take part in events as well as visits.
Reply from Tracy Keenan, Home manager at Longroyds & Pilling House Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to give us feedback, this means a lot to us and we are truly grateful for all your support with events in and out of the home, your Mum is a lovely Lady and we are so glad that you feel she is in a good and caring environment, again thankyou, see you at the next event, love from all the team at L&P.

Since coming to visit Pilling House Care Home, before my auntie became a resident, we have been really impressed with the care the residents receive. The social activities available to the residents is excellent from baking, craft activities, themed events and even visiting pets. My auntie was in a
poor way 14th February, two years ago, now she is thriving!

Pilling House is a lovely building and has recently been redecorated downstairs. The staff are all caring and supportive of the residents. It would be lovely if there was better use of a quiet room and classical music. Also needs games/activities the resident can use when sitting would be good. They
do organise activities out of the home and have visits to the home which the residents enjoy. Overall it is a good home with caring staff.
Reply from Tracy Keenan, Home manager at Longroyds & Pilling House Care HomeThank you so much for your review, we appreciate all feedback about where there may be room for improvement, but we do offer a quiet lounge in the sunlounge area of the home, where our lovely residents can go for a little quiet time if they choose to, and the games and activities live there too, so that anyone not wanting to join in the hustle and bustle of the home can spend time in this lounge with music of their choice, or none at all if they prefer, please ask a member of the team when you next visit and they can show you the space allocated to this. Thankyou once again from the whole team at Longroyds and Pilling.

My Father has been a resident in Pilling House since September 2025 and the care he receives is absolutely fantastic particularly with dementia.
Pilling House has great staff who really care about the welfare of the residents and all the residents are well cared for and happy.
The home always
has activities going on every day with the residents such as baking, games , trips out and the home has a lovely homely feel about it.
The activities over Christmas have been fantastic from Carol singers to Christmas fairs my father has had a great time.
The food is really good and I would recommend Pilling House to anyone who is looking for a care home for an elderly relative.

I feel very reassured that my grandad is being cared for by well meaning, kind people. The team are led by someone who clearly wants the best for everyone involved. The staff and the residents appear happy and settled whenever I or my family visit. Those with capacity have good feedback and those without
show no signs of neglect or harm. My grandad is doing much better in Pilling than he was at home and we as a family are less stressed.

Mum became a full time resident at Longroyds & Pilling House Care Home during October after no longer being confident enough to remain in her own home. The entire team from the outset have been wonderful, caring, compassionate and understanding. Mum is known and cared for as an individual, not a room
number and has settled in remarkably well considering she'd lived in her marital home for almost 60 years. Mum's room is beautifully decorated in a homely style with good views of the leafy grounds full of bird life and squirrels, however she spends most of her time in the lounge and dining room in the company of the other residents. I couldn't have hoped for a better place for Mum to spend her twilight years in the knowledge that she is being well looked after, is safe and has good hearty and varied food. There is always something going on in the home with plenty of arranged activities and it's lovely to see so many smiles on the faces of both the staff and the residents. 100% the right place and highly recommend.

The team at Pilling House provided respite care for my father for 2 1/2 weeks in May 2024. They were wonderful from start to finish. They provided a fantastically high level of care of my dad throughout his stay and made sure he was safe and comfortable. His medication was delivered accurately and on
time. His room was very recently redecorated and was a really lovely bright and clean room. Thank you so much to the whole team there and we wouldn't hesitate to use Pilling House for respite care for my father again in the future.

My mother went to Pilling House Care Home last year for respite care but is now a permanent resident due to needing more care. We also knew that after being there before, she was relaxed and happy, so we had no regrets when Mum had to be permanent. The staff are kind and pleasant and very welcoming,
this has made my family feel that we have made the right choice.

I live close to the care home and there is always something fun and enjoyable going on for the residents and their families.
Each year they plan event days like a summer fayre, which includes different stalls and bake sales, as well as face painting and visits from the ice cream van! - always including
the village community where possible.
After attending the events myself I can say there is a variety of activities to include the whole family.
I am sure the residents enjoy these event days as it encourages their loved ones to visit their home.
10 out of 10 for the effort that goes into the planning and preparation to make sure everyone attending has a great time!
Reply from Tracy Keenan, Home manager at Longroyds & Pilling House Care HomeThank you for your great review, we look forward to all the people who visit our homes and enjoy the diverse programme of events, and especially enjoy the events that involve coffee and cakes but we recently enjoyed learning how to do flower arranging through a very kindlLady local to the village.

My dad has been in Pilling House since Christmas 2022. Originally he was at Longroyds. The staff have been friendly and supportive throughout this time, especially as we recently struggled with the death of Mum.
Such an upheaval and change in circumstances was bewildering, scary, and unsettling for
us all. Dad in particular has taken a long time to calm, feel safe, and stop trying to return to his childhood home. During this phase I cannot fault his management and the kindness and compassion and acceptance he is given.

My mum has had a lovely Christmas which is down to the staff and care she got in Pilling House. She has settled quite quickly which I also think is down to how she is cared for and looked after. She seems to be getting involved in the activities and looks happy whenever I come to see her. She looks
well and is always in clean clothes which is nice to see. Staff are always pleasant and helpful even in the stressful time we are still in because of the pandemic.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.592) out of 10 for Longroyds & Pilling House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.792 for Longroyds & Pilling House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (120 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 144 Ratings = 4.792
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Longroyds & Pilling House Care Home is based on 12 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 registered maximum number of service users is 10.4, which has been reached with 12 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
