My husband has now been in bed for 8 months and his care has been remarkable. Everyone is very kind and considerate with him and with me. I certainly couldn't manage him now.
Lately a minibus has come for me as I am wheelchair-bound, so cannot get out of the house without help in the form of using temporary ramps, which the driver (Andy) and his assistant have been happy to help with. Their company on the journey has been good and understanding, and Andy has tried route without many speed bumps. My husband's care and mine also is outstanding.

Well done everyone!!

I cannot speak highly enough of Barchester Cookridge Court Care Home. It is a truly beautiful residential home with wonderfully caring staff who go above and beyond every single day. Since my 91 year old mother arrived at the end of January this year, her health has improved immeasurably. The support from the carers, combined with the nutritious, home-cooked meals prepared by their brilliant five-star rated chefs has made such a positive difference to her wellbeing.

The whole team is exceptional, and it's clear how much they genuinely care. Tracey, Karan, Angela, and Precious are just a few of the amazing individuals who look after my mum with such kindness and dedication. Lynsey and Vicky have also been outstanding, helping me navigate what could have been a very difficult transition from independent living to residential care with ease and reassurance. For the first time in many years, I am able to relax, knowing my mum is receiving the very best care she could have ever wished for

It is a great relief and pleasure to me that my wife is in such a well-run, caring environment and that I am welcome to see her at any sensible time. She is very happy, and knows neither she nor I could provide for her needs without expert care. Whenever she has needed to leave the home for a hospital appointment or a family event that can be organised for us. The only slight weakness is that the lounge is not a sensible shape and size, but there's nothing the carers can do about that.

The staff were welcoming and made us quickly feel at home as my husband began his week's respite at Cookridge Court. He enjoyed the activities and commented on how nice the meals were. I enjoyed having lunch with him on one occassion too.
His room was clean and comfortable - he had a lovely garden view and appreciated that.

Our only concern was that unfortunately when we arrived home after his stay, another resident's night medication was in my husband's boxes too. I had to drive back with it.

My wife Valerie (Val) is a long term sufferer with Parkinsons Disease - it was becoming difficult to cope at home and a bad fall in June 2024 resulting in a broken femur and other falls following resulted in an agreed decision to seek care. We have been very pleased and this has resulted in a degree of independence and mutual benefit.

Well i really would like to say we have found a real gem with my dad's care home.
From the moment I walked in and had a look around I felt the atmosphere was perfect.
My dad is a bit of a loner which seemed to put me on edge but to be honest being in Cookridge court care home my mind is at ease.
I would like to thank you all for the care and respect you have for your elderly.
My dad seems so settled and of course seems to be enjoying some of the male company.

Big thank you to all.

After a fall at home we needed to find emergency care for my 95 year old aunt. It needed to be close to her home so family and friends could call in to see her.

Cookridge Court ticked all the boxes, and were very prompt when I contacted them. My aunt only stayed 4 weeks, but I now know how great the stay was incase she needs to return in the future.

My mum became a resident of Cookridge Court in 2019. From that day to her sad passing yesterday the staff at the home have all been amazing. The home is always kept immaculate and mums room clean and well kept. The group activities, including singing, dancing and painting, were the highlight of everybodies week. We as a family cannot thank Cookridge Court and all the staff for their help and support.

My wife has just returned home after her third respite stay at Cookridge Court.

She has previously spent time at several other care homes, and respite care is something she tolerates rather than enjoys.

However, following her two previous stays she was more tolerant of going in.

Once again, all of the staff were welcoming and pleased to see her. Her room was immaculate, clean and inviting. A proper home from home.

The meals were delicious, and the care she received friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and it made her stay so enjoyable that she is actually looking forward to her next "holiday" in 2 month's time.

I can't say enough how much more relaxing it has made my break, knowing that my wife is happy and content whilst I am away.

My thanks to everyone at Cookridge Court for taking such loving care of my wife.

I have just returned home from my third respite stay at Cookridge Court Care Home. The care I receive is so good. I got such a warm welcome from all members of staff when I arrived. My room was spotlessly clean, light and airy. The meals were delicious and varied - I even had a visit from the chef! The house keepers who kept my room so clean always made time for a chat as they went about their work, whilst the care staff really "do care" .
As I find sleeping in a single bed rather difficult, a reclining chair was provided by the home for me - I even met the handy man who checked everything was okay for my sleeping arrangements.
I am unable to comment on the activities run at the home. Despite being invited to join in on several occasions, I was happy to stay in my room and catch up with my reading.

I now can look forward to my next "holiday" there, it's so nice to know that my husband can enjoy his breaks, knowing I am so well looked after and happy.

The staff that we see are lovely, however I feel that they need more staff - there are a lot of residents in the home. Washing does go missing- however again a lot of residents to look after. Some toilets do not work properly - or the residents cannot push handle down - too hard for them - the shower floors are uneven so residents fall sometimes.

My wife suffers from Alzheimer's disease and was admitted for respite initially but it became apparent that permanent care was needed. All the staff were welcoming, professional and supportive throughout. However, my wife presented many challenges and management with my agreement, invited a specialist NHS team to review her care and this resulted in a recommendation that she be moved to a more intense nursing dementia care. Throughout this difficult time, the management and staff were very supportive and caring both for myself and my wife. I appreciate the efforts of all concerned and would wish to place on record my sincere thanks and appreciation.

Sandra RocheJob Title:General ManagerJoined: 2026

Hello! My name is Sandra Roche, and I'm the general manager here at Cookridge Court.

I am a social worker by profession and passionate about upholding the rights of older people. I have 30 years of experience in social care across a wide variety of settings. I first became a registered manager in 2001 and led a demolition and rebuild project for a not-for-profit provider whilst achieving the top rating of Excellent at that time. I returned to statutory social work leadership in 2010 and progressed up the ranks to Acting Assistant Director of Adult Social Care, responsible for all adults in the borough and a budget of over £40 million. After nearly 2 years in that role, I realised I was losing contact with older people and their families, the reason why I came into social care in the first place and made the decision to return to the front line.

I joined Barchester in 2021 as commissioning manager of Peony Court, a new build home in Croydon, South London, where we achieved a CQC good rating and three Top 20 Care Homes in London awards. In 2026, I made the decision to transfer to Leeds to be nearer to my parents, who live in Barwick in Elmet. Our ambition here at Cookridge Court is to be Outstanding, and we do this by placing our residents' wants and needs at the heart of everything we do. We care for our families as much as our residents and value them as partners in care. Whether you are looking for respite care or a more permanent home from home for your loved one, you are assured of the warmest of welcomes, a luxury environment and bespoke, personalised, loving care from the highly motivated and friendly team at Cookridge Court.
