Cookridge Court Care Home is a lovely, friendly place.
The staff are so caring and look after the residents so well.
The home is welcoming, modern throughout and exceptionally clean (like a five-star hotel).
Always plenty of activities and always plenty of food at mealtimes.
Well recommended.

Visiting my cousin after she had settled into Barchester Cookridge Court Care Home after being ill myself I am amazed at how well she looks and seems so happy with you.
She tells me 'always something going on' and has company!
On each occasion, I am amazed at the ratio of staff and kindness of all
your lovely staff.
Yesterday she didn’t expect me and I went onto the top floor where 2 staff members were with a lovely lady, they were very caring key helping her drink with a straw and I saw the tenderness showed by the lady herself, wrapping her hands around the nurse concerned as a way of thanks.
After taking my cousin for coffee in the entrance, which she loved! We returned to her floor and again I saw the same nurse gently encouraging the lady to drink some water, again with the same kindness.
It is so reassuring that my cousin has the wonderful care which she truly deserves in this later stage in her life. Knowing she is treated with dignity, and care which is so very genuine. Thank you!

I visit my nana weekly and it is a pleasure visiting this care home. The staff are so friendly and you can tell they genuinely care about the residents. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home and enjoy your visit, so much so that even my two children love visiting. I feel relieved that
my nana is in such a lovely place and I'm reassured she is getting the best care. The care home is always immaculate and doesn't feel like an 'old people's home' which makes it so much nicer to visit.

We are very pleased with how Mum has settled in since January this year which is very much down to the excellent care she has received from you. Better now that she is receiving full-time care and she is eating and sleeping well. The communal areas are beautifully furnished. The bedrooms could do with
a little refurbishment.

On my visit, I was made to feel very welcome and relaxed by the friendly atmosphere, both the staff and the residents all seemed to be happy and content. It was very satisfying to see my mother-in-law so content and enjoying her new surroundings and company. Thank you very much Cookridge Court for the
care and professionalism you show, long may it continue.

I made the very difficult decision of putting to put my mum into a care home. I now realise it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. My mum has settled very well, she is more energised and motivated than I have seen in the past few years. This is due to the care, professional and dedicated
staff. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them, whether it's just chatting, entertaining them or encouraging the residents to get involved with the activities. Cookridge Court is the care home I would highly recommend.

Although there were some good care staff at the home, our experience was most disappointing, with my father having a fall on his first night at the home. Unfortunately, he was found unattended and had no working alarm in his bathroom. His care plan, clearly stated he needed help mobilising at all times,
unfortunately, this was not the case. He was found by a member of the family laying in bed in urine-soaked clothing. He was served ham and tuna sandwiches witnessed by family when a strictly vegetarian meal plan had been instructed.

My mum moved into Cookridge Court Care Home in December after being very independent in her flat. She was greeted with a hug and kiss from the staff. Her first comment was this is like a hotel. The care that has been shown towards her has been phenomenal. Whatever she wants or needs is there nothing
has ever been too much. I really can't praise this home enough. You have all made my mum so very welcome.

A wonderful home with very caring staff.
We were quite concerned when Mum first moved here after being very happy in her previous home but any fears we may have had were quickly assuaged and it was a real delight to see how quickly she settled in.
The care is excellent with understanding and compassionate
staff so overall we are delighted to have Mum at Cookridge Court.

The staff at Cookridge Court could not do enough to help. I needed lots of help with my mobility and the staff were there to help whenever I needed them.
Midway through my stay, the staff worked so hard to put on a barbecue for residents and their families. They ensured that all residents who wanted
to attend were given all the help they needed. My family were really impressed with the efforts each and every member of staff put in to ensure the residents enjoyed themselves. I would certainly recommend Cookridge Court to anyone needing respite care for themselves or a loved one

Everything about the home is fantastic. The staff are caring, attentive and always willing to help and go the extra mile for my mum. The activities which are put on for the residents are frequent and entertaining and definitely make a big difference to the lives of the residents. The rooms are great
and a good size and the food is excellent. There are also morning and afternoon snacks, so Mum never goes hungry.

Mum has recently returned to Cookridge Court after three months at another care home. She missed the smaller homely feel of Cookridge Court, the varied activities and social aspects as well as the enthusiastic activities team, caring staff and hands-on management team. Mum lost a dramatic amount of
weight, and within a week, has already put some back on with the fabulous catering staff and monitoring of her food and drink intake. Mum can be anxious, and everyone is supportive.

My father came to Cookridge Court after a series of falls at home and a long stay in hospital. We knew he could no longer manage at home, but he was very reluctant to agree to this and saw himself only staying at Cookridge Court for a short stay. However, he very quickly settled in and came to say he
wanted to stay long-term of his own free will. The lovely staff have made him feel happy, safe and secure, and we cannot thank the manager and her staff enough. Nothing is too much trouble for them. They help Dad with his personal care yet let him retain his sense of dignity, and they encourage him to do as much for himself as he can. They have cooked him his favourite foods, which he was missing, and have bought things he has specifically asked for. We are welcome to visit at any time, and so have been able to see him very often. The manager said to me that they would help him live “his best life”, and I can certainly vouch that he is.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.852)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.852) out of 10 for Barchester Cookridge Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.887 for Barchester Cookridge Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (191 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 213 Ratings = 4.887
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.965 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Barchester Cookridge Court Care Home is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 96 registered maximum number of service users is 19.2. 19 Positive Reviews ÷ 19.2 = 0.99
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
