Although my relative was only here a short time, she was made very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Her room was very comfortable. The place was very clean and she enjoyed her meals. Excellent all round. Thank you.

My grandma has been in Victoria House for a couple of years now, the home is always clean. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Any problems are dealt with in a fast and professional way. My grandma enjoys taking part in any day trips and the daily activities that staff do and she also tells me the food is lovely with plenty of options to choose from. Overall, I feel my grandma is very well looked after here and she is happy to be here.

The staff at Victoria House do an excellent job of caring for my mother, she can be awkward to deal with. She regularly refuses to go to bed on a night, insisting on sleeping in a chair in the lounge. The staff show great patience in dealing with her because this habit of sleeping in the chair causes her neck to be painful and her bottom to be sore both of these areas are treated appropriately and her doctor is always called when necessary. Due to my mother's great age 100 and independent, awkward nature she occasionally falls. I am always notified and reassured that she is ok.

Reply from Eduard Lavelle, Manager at Victoria House Care Home

I'm disappointed to hear that you are not happy with the management team at Victoria House. I have been informed that this is partly due to the management team deciding not to provide a £2.4k bath hoist in your chosen bedroom. We do have three communal bathrooms on our ground floor all of which have bath hoists fitted.

Mum in care home from 4/9/15 to 1/2/16 when she passed away, mum had dementia and from the start the care provided was brilliant, they played games, motivational and music and TV. When mum wasn't able to eat much and her appetite was not good they would try her with different food. Palliative care was needed and the home was able to provide this without moving mum to a nursing home which was great as with dementia it is difficult for them to get used to different people. Palliative care was brilliant they couldn't have done any more than they did and also cared for the relatives.

Mum has been here for 6 months and enjoys the home. She says the meals are sometimes repetitive but I think she's a bit fussy! The staff are always happy and helpful from managers to the cleaners. The care staff are always around. Mum's hairdresser goes to the home and uses the salon. The reception area looks lovely, security is good and ample care parking. I'm always informed of appointments and if the doctor has been called. Really happy with the care mum is receiving here.
